Uncle Bo's Pupu Bar & Grill

Everything we had was great. Huge selection of pupus, main dishes, and desserts. Huge bar and TVs for watching games also. Parking in the lot across the street is only $3 for 2 hours, can't beat it.

The front was too cold for my wife, so they sat us in the back of the restaurant, which turned out to have a better atmosphere for what we were looking for. The service was great and the food was good. My wife had the crabcakes, and she enjoyed them. I had the S.O.S. which is pan roasted clams, scallops, shrimp, calamari, and fresh fish. This dish is delicious. My son ordered Uncle BO's seafood catch. It has clams, scallops, calamari, shrimp, and fish jumbled in a creamy tomato linguine net. This is also a good meal, but I liked mine better. I also ordered a bowl of clam chowder soup to share with my son to have a taste. This was good also.

We didn't do a full meal this time but instead tried a bunch of different apps; the cheese bread is fresh, not too doughy and loaded with cheese. Also seasoned quite nicely. The calamari is breaded but not overly deep friend. Also very fresh. The dip it comes with is almost a soup like consistency but is very flavorful and unique! Not normally what you get with calamari but was absolutely delicious. A really nice atmosphere as well if you want to get dressed up

I love visiting local restaurants when traveling. Uncle Bo's popped up in a search for dinner near Waikiki. From our hotel, which was a few blocks from the beach, we had about a 15 minute walk. Not terrible by any means, and the walk was safe, well lit and there were sidewalks. From the outside, Uncle Bo's doesn't appear to be the nicest of places, but looks can be deceiving. When we walked in to the restaurant, we were surprised to see a lovely establishment. Kind of gave me speakeasy or high end supper club vibes. I made a reservation ahead of time, which is what I always recommend whenever traveling. We were seated right on time.

The staff were friendly and attentive. The menu is very diverse, plenty of options. We ordered the Spinach Dip to start and the Chicken Alfredo and Crab Salad for entrees. All of the dishes were excellent. I would say some of the menu items the prices can be quite steep, but we for sure had leftovers that we saved for another meal. They also have quite an extensive drink menu.

Great for a chill evening out and wanting a large variety of food options. The boca rota was my groups favorite that we had to order two! Parking is convenient and across the street

The SOS was probably the best I had during our vacation. The seafood inside, from the clams to the scallops, it was cooked perfectly, soft and clearly fresh. The sauce had no reason to be that good and was made even better when paired with the rice. The ceviche was above average and well balanced. All in my group loved the drinks as well. Overall, am excellent meal.

Best food we had while in Waikiki. Have told our friends who will be visiting to eat here.
We had crab cakes, calamari, dynamite shrimp, caprese toast bites and pig sliders. Hobos for dessert. We couldn't fault a single thing.

Honestly we came here on a recommendation from one of our vendors. We ordered a bunch of food to share for a party of 7. EVERYTHING tasted so good. I'm not kidding. The staff is really nice. Bookmarking for next time.

Came here with a party of people that recommended this place. They said it’s a staple and they come here almost EVERY week and let me tell ya…. I UNDERSTAND WHY!! The service is AMAZING! I wish I remembered the name of the young gentlemen with dirty blonde curly hair that’s upbeat and just a positive vibe to him that took care of like 12 of us! He was FAST & EFFICIENT with food when we had a limited time! I had the chicken Marsala pasta and I think it was easily the BEST PASTA I’ve ever had in my life. This place is amazing! Do yourself a favor, and dine in! This is a new *Favorite* on my list 🤗

Just plain some of the best food I've ever eaten. This is up there. Recommended by a local and this did not miss. Seems like a little bar, but the food blew my mind with how good it is. I had the S.O.S. and my wife had the prime rib and with every bite of my dinner i was blown away. The atmosphere is chill but a little loud though we were sitting at the bar. Lively, but nice. If you're in the area, do yourself a favor and have dinner here.

2019 - I am missing the food already!! The choice of fresh local fish and grilled veggies or seafood pasta while listening to GOOD music I haven't heard in years?? Hawaii is amazing and so is the food at Uncle Bo's. Contact Tillman Fertitta so this concept and master chef's food can be in Vegas, Louisiana and Texas! I would post a picture, but it doesn't seem to let me do so.
October 2023 - visited Uncle Bo's again post meeting and brought a colleague. So glad that Uncle Bo's survived the pandemic, and the food is just as good as I remembered. I had the local fish (Opah) with vegetables and white rice while my colleague had the shrimp tacos with french fries (tasted one of the really good fries!). Fertitta needs to know about this excellent food and master chef 😏. Enjoy the photos.

Excellent food, had the caeser salad to start, had a lot of dressing with great flavor. We then had pupis of Dynamite shrimp, Bo's nachos and Boca Rota. All 3 had great flavors and were quite large and shareable. The shrimp was lightly breaded. The nachos are wonton chips so having the teriyaki sauce on them makes sense and some do get soggy while sitting there but I didn't view it as a problem. We had the hobos for dessert to finish it off and they were pretty good and worth trying.

Uncle Bo's, A must go and experience. I had the blue crab cakes and the calamari appetizers. Amazing! The crab cakes were crispy on the outside, moist and savory on the inside, drizzled with an Asian fusion glaze. Nicely done. The calamari was just as amazing. Served with a sweet chili dipping soup, wow! The atmosphere is friendly, several customers enjoying each other's company. Also try the Hawaiian ice tea. I will head back to experience more of the menu

Awesome meals!!! Our first visit but we WILL be back. Boca-Rota was off the hook good and a MUST HAVE.

Great service. Ask for a table in the back if you would like a little quieter atmosphere.

Food really delicious the mussels were some of the best we have had all over the globe. Pork belly great. Nicely stocked bar and wine . Ceviche could have used a little more seafood the only criticism. We had a bunch of appies but many dinners looked phenomenal. Pricing was reasonable.

We had a going party here, they helped put together a great menu so everyone just had to pay per head. Which made it easier to focus on enjoying our time with each other with great drinks and even better laughs! Highly recommend, go to enjoy great staff, the great food, and the drinks!

Grab some friends and grab some Pupus. You need some folks with you to try it all! My favorites are the Boca Rota, seafood trap, Bo’s Big Nachos and dynamite shrimp.

When I first tried the Boca Rota I thought heavenly breadsticks. I was reluctant at first to order just “breadsticks” but the tender prime rib and sautéed mushrooms are a wonderful meal! I’ve since tried the Boca Rota pizza but I prefer the breadsticks. They just have the right amount of everything.

The seafood trap is delicious from shrimp to octopus, everything is cooked perfectly.

I often get just pupus, but their ribeyes are equally to die for. It’s the perfect amount of juiciness with a great cute of meat.

The dessert menu should be overlooked so save some room. We love ordering Hobo’s. The beignets are warm and wonderful with the vanilla ice cream. These are not to be missed!

Overall lots of food and very reasonable prices for Hawaii. I’ve also tried Uncle Bo’s on the North Shore and loved it!
