It definitely shows its age in some ways, but it's really well maintained. The rooms were all really big, the air conditioning worked well, and the wifi worked fine at least on my phone. The staff was very friendly. It's super close to the main street in Waikiki, so in a 5 minute walk there's a ton of things to do. Rideshare was always there really quickly.

There were only 2 real downsides to this place. The first is the windows were kind of thin, so they didn't block a ton of noise. The second is there seems to be a bit of nightlife on the same street, so it was a little noisy at night. Blast the AC and you won't notice for too long, but if you're a light sleeper this may be a little too centrally located. And a minor annoyance, but the bathroom sink is the type where the water is too close to the edge of the sink, so you're rubbing your hands on the sink and only cleaning your fingertips. It wasn't a big deal because the kitchen sink was fine instead.

I would definitely stay here again. The rooms were clean, they all had kitchens, it was definitely a good place to stay.

Our week-long stay at Ilima Hotel in Waikiki with our family of 8 was awesome! The place is super clean and has a modern vibe. The WiFi didn't give us any trouble, and the beds, though a bit on the firm side, were surprisingly comfy.

We went all out and snagged the penthouse, which turned out to be a great move. Picture this: one room with a king-size bed, another with two full beds we cleverly pushed together to make a queen, and a third room with a queen and a full bed. The living room was so spacious and perfect for our family hang outs. Bonus points for a fully stocked kitchen, complete with dishes and utensils and even a rice cooker. Oh, and did I mention the washer-dryer combo? Major win!

The hotel staff was super nice, and our ocean views were on point. The pool, tucked away in the back, wasn't exactly a tropical paradise, but who cares when you're a short 10-minute walk from the best beach spots? Plus, loads of restaurants around for those lazy evenings.

Oh and a heads up, the parking spots were readily available but on the tighter side , so maneuver carefully. But overall, Ilima Hotel made our family getaway a breeze! 🌴

We stayed here in October, and had a great time. Staff was friendly and helpful, the rooms were large, comfortable beds, and LOVED the kitchenette. A touch dated, but really clean, and super good price for the area. Good restaurants and not far to Waikiki beach. I appreciated the free parking, but a heads up: we drove a minivan and while parking was doable it was a TIGHT fit and definitely a two person job to squeeze in. Parking was limited, and filled up quickly in the evenings, but free parking was hard to find anywhere else so no complaints there! Would definitely recommend!

Have stayed here several times for weeks at a time. Large rooms, not fancy, but clean, comfortable and quiet.
Have to be aware of the bar just down the road. Hope it’s gone some day soon.
Free parking awesome.

Free parking, friendly staff, dated decor, great location. You'll get a parking spot if you get to the hotel before 7pm. The hotel feels very old, with open air hallways, but the kitchen is updated. Roomtop deck available but limited in hours. Additional resort fee applies.

We stayed 5 nights in this hotel. Our room was very spacious. The pool is rather small. Location of the hotel is very convenient, just 10 min walk to the Waikiki beach and steps from the canal.

We had a wonderful stay at the Ilima. All of the conveniences of an airBnB but in a hotel room. It was centrally located with an easy one minute walk to shopping and restaurants, clean, nicely appointed, has free hotel parking (a huge plus), a full kitchen and in-building laundry. The bathroom is not updated and could use more counter space. But the rest of the room makes up for it.

Our room had a King and Double, perfect for our family stay. The deck had incredible sunrise views overlooking the canal and hills. Love the pop of pink.

Kitchen is equipped with a full fridge w/freezer, microwave, place settings for 4, knives/cutting board (hello pineapple!), toaster, coffee maker, 2 burner stove. Everything worked well.

We would stay here again. Be sure not to miss the lobby art! It’s something!

(+) Pros: Location, Price, Friendlessness, Cleanliness
(-) Cons: Outdated Rooms, Cramp Parking

I stayed here for a week in August 2021, when there were still some pandemic restrictions ( although it has been more relaxed compared to earlier in the same year).

Location: This hotel is located in Waikiki, the heart of tourism in Honolulu. This hotel is near many popular places - including Maguro Brothers (sashimi & poke), Marugame Udon, Kona Coffee Purveyors, Basalt (get the charcoal buttermilk pancakes!), Heavenly Island Lifestyle, International Market Place, etc. It takes around 10 minutes to walk to Waikiki Beach.

The only con is that there is a small tattoo parlor and bar on Nohonani St., which I did feel a bit hesitant to walk past at night.

Price: For the area, this hotel is a good option for budget-friendly travelers who don’t want to shell out a few hundred dollars a day on a beach-front hotel.

Please note that there was a $27.45/night resort fee.

Service: The staff at the hotel is amazing! I have stayed at nicer hotels, but some haven’t even come as close to the service here.

Cleanliness: Housekeeping services were provided every day without any prior request. I was immensely surprised at how clean it was considering the limited time they had during the day.

Rooms: When I stayed, the room was clean, albeit a bit outdated, but it looks like based on the recent reviews, they have done some remodeling. The beds were large and comfortable to sleep in. Compared to other hotels I was searching in the same area, this hotel has a kitchenette ( including a fridge, microwave, sink, coffee machine, and burners). They had more kitchen utensils in stock than I expected. However one morning, I smelled and heard a nearby occupant making breakfast.

My room has a balcony with a view of the city, but I rarely go there because the furniture isn’t that pleasant to see. If you’re lucky/paid more, you can get great views of the mountains.

Parking: There is limited free parking. The staff will provide a parking pass to hang in your car throughout your stay. As long as you come back and park around 5:00 P.M., you should be able to find a parking spot. If you arrive later, you will need to pay for parking nearby. I would recommend renting a compact car because the parking spaces were a tad narrow.

All in all, I would come back here again if I ever visited Honolulu.

This is a great spot, I've stayed here a couple times over the years. Clean, spacious rooms. I love the bright pink wall. Close to the international market and about a 15 min walk to the beach. The best part is the lovely staff, can't speak highly enough of them. I always look forward to my stays.

We stayed at the Ilima for the second time as a family of four. It is clean, friendly and a very good value in Honolulu. 5-10 minute walk to beach and they will provide beach towels (very helpful). Rooms have kitchens which really help with the budget. Room was renovated since our last visit - a delightful surprise. Parking is included if spots not full. Very tight soaces so small car will fit better. We’ll stay again if we return

A short stay before a cruise. Every staff member greated us with Aloha and smiles. We loved the chorus treat on Friday morning! Location was perfect for walking to all things! Thank you Ilima!

We loved our stay at Ilima Hotel! The staff is incredibly nice and accommodating, the rooms are sparkly clean and the location is just a few blocks from the water. We didn’t experience any days where parking was an issue except on Sunday night when we were getting our luggage we noticed the lot was full so I’d recommend arriving early to your hotel on weekends to get a spot. The resort fee was about $27 per day and I believe that includes the coffee, towels and parking. To add, the kitchenette is a great deal if you want to cook while on vacation and save some money on food.

Friendliest, most accommodating staff I've ever had at a hotel! Housekeeping services were provided every day during my stay and I never had to request it, which is something I haven't experienced at a hotel since before COVID. It was clear that the front desk staff are happy to be there and are eager to ensure a pleasant and comfortable stay for their guests. The location is also very convenient to the downtown Waikiki area, and it's a short walk from the beach. The exterior of the hotel could use a bit of a facelift and a fresh coat of paint, but other than that I have no complaints. Would definitely stay here again!

Stayed a night here after spending the previous 4 nights at a hotel literally 5 time as expensive. I could have stayed the whole time here and had a great time. It is about a half mile from the beach, but it is surrounded by fun shopping and delicious eating places that are less expensive than what you get closer to the beach. There was a refrigerator, stove, microwave, and it was stopped with plates bowls cups utensils toaster and pots and pans. And it was super clean!

The staff is always friendly and helpful. With the new renovations the rooms receive a 5 star. Love having a kitchen. I have stayed here for many years and the location and staff help make this hotel an excellent choice. Not on the beach but easy walking to it. Quieter than some other hotels on the main streets. Lovely balcony and large rooms.

I’m giving this hotel 5 stars for the wonderful staff and really relaxing atmosphere. Some of the rooms have been renovated and some are a bit shabby but the hotel itself was delightful and super friendly. I especially loved the pink balconies. Our room has lots of Hawaiian style bamboo furniture but maybe this will go with the renovations. The website warns of construction work but we only heard it once for about 20 minutes. The rest of the time the hotel was very peaceful. Location is perfect for beach, shops, restaurants, buses. If you like longer walking you can stroll all the way to the Diamond Head beaches or walk the other way along the canal towards Honolulu convention Center. The canal is said to be very polluted but I saw so many fish in there, including giant puffer fish, and they were friendly too!

Third time to Hawaii and although this was the cheapest hotel of the three trips this was my favorite hotel of all. The room I was was large, very clean and towels were great thick large towels. Staff was friendly and helpful, laundry room in hotel and even had a small pool for the kids to enjoy. This will definitely be my choice when I come to Honolulu. Hotel has a great location and although it’s a older hotel this place is a gem with its kitchenettes. Thank you staff for being so accommodating to me and my large family. Truly enjoy this experience as I sit on your balcony writing this

The hotel itself is older, but we had a newly remodeled room with a kitchenette which was clean (especially compared to outrigger east), functional, and spacious. The free parking garage never filled up during our 4 nights but apparently it usually does, so if you want to avoid hunting for costly public parking you'll have beat everyone else to the spots.

First time in Oahu and couldn't be happier with our choice to stay here. The rooms are large, have everything you need, and we had a lovely view of the canal and mountains. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The location is fantastic, a quiet street and a very easy walk into central Waikiki and the beach.

The atmosphere is really relaxed for as many rooms. I felt very welcome, every time I came or left the front desk acknowledged me and was very helpful. The room was perfect, loved the kitchen and patio. The couch was extremely hard, and it was also a pull out and my step daughter had to sleep on it and was very uncomfortable. The location is great. Hope to stay again in the future.
