This place is amazing. I did the columbine loop trail and the much shorter technical loop trail which can only be reached by walking the majority of the columbine loop. It was probably a bit over 5 miles because it took me about 2.5 hours to do. All I can say is the photos speak for themselves. This place was beautiful and full of some hidden gems. There is a paved walking path that leads from this trailhead to another trailhead area to the south closer to lake olathe but I recommend doing the columbine loop trail if you really want to be in the heart of some nature. I saw 7 deer total, a woodpecker, tons of other birds, some snakes and even some type of salamander or newt. There is an old car out in the middle of the trail and I passed by two little ponds as well. The technical loop is very short but don’t miss it if you are doing the columbine loop. It was beautiful and very interesting. Not too hard for anybody to do. Just be prepared for this and bring water and snacks. Maybe a first aid kit in case you get hurt somehow and always keep your phone charged up. I never lost cell signal out there and it is relatively in the middle of an urban area but still, play it safe. I was mostly on my own the entire time except for being passed by some mountain bikers from time to time. I wish they would just slow down, use their feet and enjoy nature up close but we all enjoy different things I guess. They are missing out on appreciating the smaller things in life, more for me to enjoy. No matter what though, if you like to be outdoors this is the trail for you while in the Johnson county metro area. Have fun and stay safe.

Fantastic trail with some gorgeous views. Just enough foliage between you and the road to make it feel somewhat isolated. The path is well maintained, mostly forgiving, and fairly long. Make sure to bring water.

I was happy that the dirt trail was open. I hiked it with my dog on leash. Was very relaxing in the fully wooded areas. I was looking at it for ideas on my trail system on my wooded acreage. Lots of mountain bikes.

I come here for the walking trails they're very nice like a little miniature road it even looks like they're going to put Center markers for the 2 way traffic.

Very nice trail. Good for adventurous bikers, I had quite a few go by as I walked. It's a very long trail and doesn't really loop, so you might want to have someone do you off and pick you up somewhere farther down. Bring snacks and water because you will probably be out longer than you think. Nice peaceful trail, well maintained. No water or places to sit along the way, so come prepared.

Nice trails for hiking or MTB. Generally easy, a few segments more difficult.

Parts of Cedar Niles Park were where the Sante Fe Trail passed through. Travelers camped on Cedar Creek near the 127th St bridge. Many headed out up the hill located toward the SW of the bridge. Makes sense as the Mahaffie farm house is due east, about 4 miles.

Enjoyable trail through the trees. There are a few challenging hills in case you are looking for a flat trail.

Small but the lot has enough space for 10 cars at least. Trailhead walked into the woods which is very cool.

This is the place to park and drop in for the recently-completed (6/21) mountain bike trail. There’s a porta potty, and, as you enter the trail, a map. The trail is a 4.5 loop, and can be ridden either direction. The terrain is flowy with some rock, roots, and smaller climbs.

Great trail for an easy walk. Over five miles of paved walk ways. Well manicured, good parking and away from the noise of Johnson county

Great for beginner to slight intermediate mountain biking. Always close to pavement on the mtb trail, if that's important to you for emergency purposes.

Great mountain bike trail for riders looking for something slightly more challenging than beginner level. Nothing crazy, but a good workout.
