One of my favorite places to meet for a quiet drink is Fox and Hounds Tavern at the Cheshire Inn. It’s been around forever and still has not lost the charm of a tiny pub you discovered that is dark, mysterious and strangely comforting. Grab a pint, a plate of chips and enjoy! 😊

Stopped in on a Friday evening and the small bar was full. Since it was just us 2 we were able to snag a table. There is seating outside the bar area in lobby if you have a bigger group or want a more quiet place to chat. You just order food/drinks at the bar and they'll bring it to you. The cocktails were good and we split the lamb sliders and meat/cheese plate.

Really nice pub atmosphere; excellent bartender; super fish and chips. Thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Highly recommend this place.

I REALLY love the cozy tavern feel. The drinks were just okay, but the atmosphere, service, and food were all really good, so this still gets 5 stars. We got fish and chips and Shepard's pie.

The Fox & Hounds Tavern is an awesome place. A St. Louis landmark. However without Mark Pollman it's like Graceland without Elvis - RIP my Friend. All who tipped a glass filled by you still miss you.

The bar itself (inside the hotel) is like being in an old timey den. It gets a little crowded on weekends, but it's a fun change of pace and the bartenders are great.

If you would like an affordable, relaxing true British style pub, this is your place! The bar-tender is a scotch enthusiast and respected my budget while finding delectable scotch! Not a scotch person? There are also a variety of complex cocktails and beer! I love how this place doesn't have tvs, instead it offers chess boards, leather couches, and conversation. The food was lovely, authentically british, and well flavored. An amazing and relaxing night out!

Cozy. Wonderful tavern with lots of atmosphere and charm. Feels like rustic England. Dimly lit room. Dark wood, oil paintings, and taxidermy with a homey hearth. Music was a much-appreciated blend of classic tunes, post-punk, and other goodness: Beatles, Motorhead, The Cure, Joy Division, The Smiths, Radiohead, etc. Local brews on tap from Heavy Riff, Civil Life, and others. Excellent location for a fireside conversation with friends.

This tiny British themed bar is located just inside the entrance to the Cheshire Hotel. My wife and I happened to stop in on a Saturday night and it was full of people. A fine 3 piece jazz band was playing in the far end of the room. We happened to get a small 2 person booth in the back but we were lucky because space was limited that night. The room is dark and cozy and provided an interesting backdrop for a drink. Cocktails, wine, and beer are all available. Limited food menu options, mostly pub fare.

Great Bangers and Mash. The Oatmeal Stout was excellent and well. Wonderful old pub atmosphere.

Unique, old-world moody vibe with top-notch drinks. It feels like you are in a speakeasy tavern in 'Downton Abbey'. A whimsical place in the middle of St Louis.
Service was quick, friendly, and easy. Fantastic spot for cold winter nights by the fire

Atmosphere is first and foremost here, really unlike any bar I’ve been to before. Definitely cozy and moody, and seating can become scarce quick if there’s a crowd, but the food is tasty and the drinks get the job done.

Chris was our bartender and he was fantastic!!! So hospitable and very knowledgeable about his drinks. My girlfriend got a chocolate martini and really enjoyed it. Very cozy place and I really liked the decor! We'll be back again as this is the perfect place for a drink in the cold weather.

I have yet to see the coziness of this traditional English Pub aesthetic matched anywhere else in St. Louis. Very small space though, so try to time your visit accordingly.

Very cool atmosphere. Great drinks. Expensive, but worth it for a special occasion. My husband and I had a pre-dinner drink there for our anniversary, just to check it out and kill time. We then brought our friends back with us for a night cap after dinner and a comedy show. They were also into the atmosphere. Great memories made:-)

Cozy, dark bar styled after a retro British pub. Located on the ground floor of the historic Cheshire Inn. I stop by often for an after dinner drink or two. Knowledgeable staff. Nice selection. Friendly service. It’s small, but perfect for date night, on your own or with a group of four or less. Large group seating could be a challenge. Casual bar food offered. Recommend

If you want an old world, cozy, lodge/pub feel this is for you! It is a small space and can get crowded late in the evening. Staff are friendly and prompt. Well made drinks. A small menu to choose from but good food. Both tables and comfy seating and a fireplace.

Wheelchair Access: Valet or self park accessible spaces are located in the lot at the Cheshire. Ramp to get in front is off to left of front door, near valet stand. Space is small and power chairs might have difficulty getting through when crowded. Manual chairs can fit, especially with helpful staff. Public, restroom has wheelchair accessible stall that is big enough for power or manual chair users.

My parents truly enjoy staying at the Cheshire Hotel (retired English literature professors) and looooove coming to The Fox and Hound Tavern / pub. They have date nights here. Dimly lit, candle glow, framed paintings of favorite dogs, chessboards, flat screen TV's, and cozy chairs in the corners. It's a great place to catch up with friends and family in a place that isn't too loud. There's also a small patio for summer evenings. **It's a great place for being a solo diner/traveler.** Just bring your book or your laptop, and sip your pint in a chair.
