Serra Sculpture Park

I took my dogs for a walk here. It was like walking thru an oitdoor art exhibition but vibrantly full of people, mainly kids, and peaceful all at the same time. Nice little oasis in the middle of the city.

Take a walk to this sculpture and go inside! You will be immediately transported to somewhere else. Just know these space inside the sculpture rarely gets mowed or groomed, so be prepared for some rustic tall grass, bunnies and bugs! It's okay, that's part of the experience. Relax.

The Serra sculpture, known as Twain, has created controversy from the beginning and was proposed by the St Louis Board of Alderman to have it removed. What is art? There have been many critics of this sculpture, mainly because of the stark nature of the shape and material. It was also considered a waste of precious downtown real estate, although being in the Gateway Mall, it was never zoned for a building. However that didn't stop the Peabody Plaza from being erected in the 1980's, much to the chagrin of the St Louis architectural community.

Artwork is constantly kept in check and changing. This downtown park sees thousands of tourists a day except in the winter. Always fun to see it active.

Love all the creativity. Money and love could use a tree trim hard to see at any angle parking is free on sunday

This was obviously constructed with the distant future in mind. It almost seemed like this was set up to eventually become what we recognize as an ancient ruin as we find all over Egypt.

I love this contemplative, sublime space. St. Louis is fortunate to have a work of such magnitude, historically and aesthetically.
