Beautiful place and the rocks look like they are covered in glitter because of all the mica

A stiff hike. Beautiful in fall with the changing foliage. Steams with gorgeous woods all around.

Be prepared to go up and down some serious hills.

One of my favorite trails has a new look since the flood, but don't think for a second that this isn't still one of the most beautiful trails in WNC. There may be new things to look out for and a slightly different view in places but this trail is definitely worth a visit. You can go for miles so be prepared and aware.

Beautiful hike along the river and lots of places to get down to the river.

We come spend a day here every summer with the kids and bring swimsuits and a picnic lunch. Spots to just walk in the shallows or swim in deeper pools.

Good camping along the river too but bring bear canisters (required beyond recommended)

While the trail isn’t well marked just stick to the river

Great hiking. The water was low but fishing was great, catching was a little slow.

Great views of Yellowstone Prong River. Scenic Trail all the way to Greasy Knob Trail.

Loved this moderate hike, plenty of camping alcoves, nearly all of the hike is along a beautiful river with some swimming and fishing holes, not well marked but fairly easy to be close to trail.

If you enjoy trails along Rivers, and are not a novice hiker, I recommend this trail.

Great hike, moderate to HARD hike because trail is not well marked. We followed along river as suggested in ither reviews. There were times we had to climb down the rocks to river to climb back up to grab the trail again. If you don't go too far in you will still be able to enjoy and even get close to the water with no problem. Very beautiful

Great hike out to the small pond. Take lunch and enjoy the out back hike with lots of places to trout fish.

This is an easy hike beside the river. It's a great place to camp, hike or just come with a lunch and enjoy. Time before last we found great amount of mushrooms!!!!

This place is amazing. Camping right on the river. Ten minute hike in.

Great trail along the Pigeon River. Rocky but no extended intense climbs. The parking area here is small so you can park at one of the larger parking areas slightly North on 276. Also, don't be fooled, this is the Big East Fork trailhead. The trailhead where the big NFS sign that says "Big East Fork" is actually where the Shining Rock trail starts out.

Absolutely love this area of NC. Every year sometimes 2 times a year hiking and camping in Pisgah. Can't wait until next year.
