Gus’s World Famous Fried Chicken

The food was hot and made right after we ordered. We ordered the chicken dinners while our daughter ordered chicken tenders. Everything was delicious and fresh. Service was good as well. It was a little pricey but I believe it was worth it. It also a good place to bring the kids. I recommend this place if you are looking for something that is different from your average chicken dinner.

Without being too ostentatious, Gus's has one of the best burgers in Westloop (considering Au Cheval and Kuma's are around the corner)

You seat where you want, the tables and chairs are part of the southern decor, in addition to the plates used for the food.

Their Arnold Palmer is so but so good! (ony of my fav), simple and to the point. They give you refills that you can take out.

The Fried Chicken here is spicy, crunchy, tasty, delicious (this one has better quality than Harold's, imo). The garnish has the same quality, the green tomatoes are a must! Coleslaw is fresh and juicy.

Cool they have Texas Pete (yeah, it is not from Texas).

The Staff is effective, and your food is served quick and hot.

The price is reasonable and relatively cheap, considering the quality, the refills, and quick way to get your food.

The hamburger has pickle and the dressing they use pairs so good with the Chicken.

They have high chairs.

Was in the area and saw this bold statement of worlds best chicken had to check it out well they nailed it was amazing also had some fried pickle spears amazing also will definitely be back. You can taste the Tennessee in that chicken. It has that Hattie B's love to it

I visit here every time I come to the Chi! Best fried chicken. Recommend the cold slaw, baked beans and greens as sides!!!! Fried Okra was good as well! Honey mustard top notch.

Extremely flavourful! Portions were plentiful. The atmosphere was that of a southern gem. The fries weren't the best; but the okras definitely made up for it. I definitely would recommend giving Gus a try! Street parking only.

Outstanding Chicken! Got it DoorDash! Delicious!! Went to main place too… awesome atmosphere! So crunchy and full of flavor! Went to Gus’s in Knoxville, TN too. Same incredible flavor!

I'm so glad I found this place. It's one of those casual places where you know what to expect when you come in. Plastic tablecloths, the chairs don't match, everything is served on disposable plates...but that's the charm of it. It's good food done well at a reasonable price. And you can't beat that. It does say hot chicken but since there's no levels, it's not scorching. It has a kick to be sure but it won't burn your face off. (Although it does build as you eat more...so be careful) The chicken comes out scorching hot, the breading is light and crisp, and the chicken is so juicy. So good. And I always swap out the beans and coleslaw for Mac and cheese and their seasoned fries. 🤤 (They put some seasoning on top the Mac too...it's a nice touch) I wish I could remember the name of the waitress I had last time but she was great. My buddy was meeting me there so I ordered for him. It came before he showed up so she goes "I gave you the bigger pieces as he's not here yet." I busted out laughing... especially as he was walking in the door at the time. 🤣 Love coming here if I'm by Fulton Market.

Great service Kelvin!!!! Friendly staff! Food was fresh and hot! The chicken tenders are awesome and my husband and neighbor enjoyed their 2 piece dinner (breast & wing) with baked beans and slaw too! If you're ever in the west loop and you have a taste for some fried chicken go to Gus's!

Great southern food. Chicken is incredible. But, the chocolate chess pie was very tasty. A real added bonus

Not fussy, just freaking good. The chicken came out fresh and was so crispy with great flavor. The chicken breast was so juicy and cooked perfectly. The seasoned fries are delicious. Will definitely come back!

Maybe I just haven’t had a ton of fried chicken in my life but this place has me looking no further. The first time I had Gus’s there were actual tears in my eyes. I didn’t know fried chicken could be so good. Fries? Seasoned to absolute perfection. Whatever they are putting in the fries I need the recipe for.

Gus's is a must stop food spot when visiting Chicago. 1st time here and wasn't disappointed. Chicken had a lot of flavor with a nice kick of spices. Chicken was extra crispy without asking for it to be extra crispy, just like I like it. Mac and cheese was extra cheesy with the extra touch of shredded cheese they add. Definitely be back next time in town.

My friend invited me here for his 36th bday to start the night of his celebrations. The restaurant has nice clean and cool looking interior with plenty of seating for guest. For a spot in Fulton market area it still kept the classic chIcken joint style with some flair

Our server was a nice person with a good sense of humor. She was very attentive to our needs, making sure to take care of us whenever we needed. Our food was served promptly which was good because IT WAS AMAZING!!!!

i had the chicken tenders with cole slaw and mac & cheese. The tenders were super juice with a crispy exterior , the honey mustard sauce was a nice touch. The mac & cheese was ok....but it hit spot.

Overall good place to check out will definitely go again.

This place is my go-to as a southerner in Chicago. The chicken is awesome. Only two complaints would be that they just do NOT have good sweet tea. So as a southern food chain, I would work on that ;)
Also, I wish they didn't put wet sides like greens in their to-go boxes, as those boxes are not waterproof. So the box has a couple hours max before it eats through. Otherwise, love their food!

Definitely some of the best chicken I ever had. It had a good spicy kick to it. Fresh hot crispy chicken with a crackling sound when you bite and pull the flesh from the bones.

The staff is cool and polite asking if they can help and or could they get something for us.

Got some thighs to go. Super easy and fast. This chicken is fantastic hot but I think it sings as cold chicken. Just crazy good stuff!

Delicious chicken! Comes out piping hot and super juicy. The breading is light so the chicken doesn’t feel too greasy at all.

Service was quick and for dining in, you just choose a seat for yourself.

I walked in casually to check the menu for some quick snack. The kitchen is open and you can see a lot of chicken being friend.. it smelled so so good! The staff was super friendly and I decided to order some fried chicken and beer from their limited but good draft list. The fried chicken here is by far the best fried chicken I have ever eaten! Also, I got fried orca as a side which was delicious and crispy too. This is going to be in my regular places for sure! Yummmy!!

Grabbed 2 quick fried chicken thighs for about $10 - they were phenomenal. They’re effectively battered, almost like English fish and chips. Super crispy, juicy and a fantastic taste.
