We dined at the Cellar at Duckworth’s on Tryon tonight, and although it's been a while since my last visit, the exceptional food and service remain unchanged. Our meal included steak, candied bacon, Brussels sprouts, clams, and a salad, all enhanced with some delightful cocktails—a combination that's hard to top.

First time cellar visit was great. Has the speak easy vibe with a great selection of drinks and good service. We split three smaller plates: the PORK STEAM BUNS, BRUSSELS SPROUTS & BANDIED JALAPENO BACON FLATBREAD, and BURRATA CHEESE SALAD. All were great and enough to fill us up. Had the EAST VILLAGE for a cocktail and it was smooth. Would come back and try a main plate

I cannot recommend the Cellar at Duckworth's enough!! The food was absolutely amazing. The drinks are incredible. The vibe is fun. The restaurant itself is awesome. Overall it's a neat place to visit and we'll worth it. They have a long list of cocktails and beers with bitters/syrups made in house. The staff dress to fit the setting and music is played from the era. The furniture and bar are decorated to match the time frame too. It's a speakeasy with friendly employees. I highly recommend checking this place out, you won't be disappointed.

Tucked beneath the unassuming exterior of a typical sports bar lies a hidden gem known as The Cellar, a charming speakeasy that effortlessly captures the essence of vintage New York City. Stepping into this clandestine locale feels like a journey back in time, with its dimly lit ambiance, exposed brick walls, and a decor featuring barrels and adorned wine bottles, all contributing to its enchanting atmosphere.

The Cellar’s allure extends beyond its nostalgic setting, boasting an impressive drink menu that showcases over 40 unique cocktails, alongside a generous selection of wines and beers. Whether you’re a cocktail connoisseur or simply seeking a refreshing libation, there’s something to satisfy every palate.

What truly sets The Cellar apart, however, is its exceptional service. The friendly and attentive staff go above and beyond to ensure that each patron’s experience is nothing short of memorable.

To order drinks, they offer the convenience of using their iPad, a brilliant idea. With it, you can view all the ingredients and a photo of each drink. It would be ideal if they extended this feature to include the dinner menu, as reading the paper menu under dim lights can be challenging. For starters, we indulged in smoked salmon flatbread and short rib gyoza dumplings, both of which were delightful. For my drink, I opted for “Where There’s Smoke,” a spicy tequila with smoked citrus juice, which paired perfectly with our appetizers. My wife chose “Tiki Punch,” served in a unique bottle with a cork. However, she found her second drink, the Margarita, more to her liking. For dinner, we savored a perfectly cooked 14oz ribeye, a dish I highly recommend. It arrived sliced and complemented our drinks impeccably. To conclude our meal, we treated ourselves to the Nutella Cheesecake, a light and delectable dessert option.

In conclusion, The Cellar is more than just a bar; it’s an experience. Whether you’re a local or a visitor passing through Charlotte, a visit to this hidden speakeasy is an absolute must. So, step into the past and let The Cellar transport you to a bygone era of elegance and charm.

Great experience! It’s connected to duckworth, you just go downstairs. Small area but intimate & romantic. Wish there was more appetizing food options. The caprese was unique but a little too salty with the pecans plus added salt on the burrata.the cellar burger with fries was good & the dumplings were delicious. The server from a place near Ethiopia was amazing & so beautiful! Will love to be back!

Such a hidden place with a completely different atmosphere than upstairs. If you haven't been and are looking for a speakeasy type bar, this is it. Everything was so good and a lot of options for tapas style food or large plates. I need to come back and try more. The shrimp and grits and Nutella cheesecake are essentials to order!

My first visit here was to celebrate my birthday and it was absolutely fantastic! Brittany served us so well and was very attentive. Our waters were always full and as we finished, our plates and drink glasses were removed promptly. To top it off, the steak I ordered (Dry-Aged Prime NY Strip) was without a doubt on my top 5 list for the best steaks I've eaten in my whole life! It was seasoned very well and cooked perfectly. You get what you pay for and this experience was worth every penny!

*4 stars for atmosphere only because it was not overly busy on a Sunday night, but it was a bit loud and difficult to hear. The mood was very dark and romantic, but hard to see and read the menu.
***The 1920s Prohibition theme was on point and made for a really fun and classic vibe!!!

Definitely a 10/10 different vibe factor and would recommend it to anyone looking for a great dinner in the city. Service was tremendous and the food had so much flavor! (Personal favorite was the pork steam buns + grits that the pork was served on)
My only complaint is spending around $20 per beverage and not feeling A THING after. Great taste, but no alcohol. (One of us was drinking whiskey drinks and one was drinking recommended margaritas) We had to go to another bar nearby just to catch a buzz for way less.

Found this highly rated gem here on Google maps, and we decided to give it a try on a Monday night.
Entrance is easy to find, and Duckworth's also has an upstairs that is more sports bar feel, with TVs and what not- but nice and not dive-y at all
You get to the Cellar by going right downstairs, which are in front of you when you walk in. It's a beautiful, intimate, dimly-lit space, that once was a speakeasy and at times hosted many famous individuals. Our server (male, raspy voice), explained the history of the space, thoroughly explained the menus (food and drink both), he was excellent.
I got the grouper, served with risotto, carrots and artichoke, and I added 2 scallops. The risotto was AMAZING, my favorite part of my plate, though it was all delicious. The scallops could have stood to sautee another 1-2 mins, but were still delicious.
My husband got the regular ribeye, which comes ala carte except for a small amount of greens on the plate. He also added shrimp, and a side of the truffle mac and cheese. The sear on that steak was just incredible (we were informed it goes into an 1800 degree...an open flame broiler, I believe (or something to that effect). Med rare/medium temperature.
Berry wontons/dumplings for dessert, perfect texture outside, my only thought is that the filling inside could be a little sweeter, less savory. The compote/sauce around them was perfect.
For drinks, I got mules and asked to add their fresh peach puree, and they were perfect, made with fresh ginger instead of ginger beer. My husband got beer, one of his favorite IPAs on draught.
Everything was just fantastic, I highly recommend and would love to return to try allllll the delicious looking/sounding food😍

EVERYTHING WAS AMAZING!!! I recently went with my husband for our 7yr anniversary and it was our first time going to this place. The atmosphere and decor was calm and romantic. The food was the best! We ordered Ribs with gritz and sweetened veggies with a side of fries topped with grated parmesan cheese. Shoutout to our server Ifrah! Loved her, she was so nice and sweet, gave the best recommendations for drinks! Not only she served us dessert, but it was on her for our special night and I can’t thank her enough! Also the manager there was so nice and attentive!
I recommend this and will be going back 😊💯

5 star experience all the way around! I had a friend in town and we came here for my belated birthday dinner and they did not disappoint. Often touted as one of the best restaurants in Charlotte, I can absolutely see why.

Aesthetic: this place is a whole vibe! Conjuring up all the feelings of a speakeasy because this place actually used to be a speakeasy with very famous artists of the prohibition era frequenting this basement. I absolutely love the vibes down here - dark, moody, vintage - it's all perfect. And the bar is stunning.

Food: I got the bone-in filet and my friend got their fish special and both were incredible. My steak was cooked to perfection and tender and the Mac and cheese was the perfect accompaniment. I tried my friend's fish and it was fantastic. They have an extensive cocktail list and it was overwhelming but our server helped me pick out a bourbon- based cocktail that I loved.

Service: top notch as one would expect for this experience. Our server was friendly, attentive, and offered great suggestions.

Very happy with the experience here and well worth the price tag. This makes for a great place to celebrate something special or for a romantic, intimate date night. You won't go wrong with the food or the cocktails - can't wait to go back!

Great atmosphere, excellently crafted balanced drinks, amazing food, and attentive service.
Order "My Bitter X", the grilled oysters, and the short rib and thank me later.
10/10

Wow! This place is great! The service was the best I've had in a long time, the food was amazing! Everything we ate was better than the last. Probably one of the best meals I've had in a long time. If you are thinking about don't wait, do it!

The Cellar...top notch across the board. They promise a gastro pub experience and I think they deliver. We started with a two cheese/one meat charcuterie board. Then we both had the scallops. For desert, the Nutella cheesecake; described as more like a mousse which it is...either way, yum. Go soak up the atmosphere and enjoy the food. We cleaned our plates.

We absolutely adored our first experience here at Duckworth’s. The second you walk down the stairs it feels like walking back in time. The ambiance is so welcoming, there is amazing service, and the menu is incredibly accessible and tasty. It stays updated because it’s electronic which is awesome. I requested a sour drink and they did not disappoint. HUGE HUGE shoutout to our server, Gillian. She has an organic confidence that’s hard to come by, is very professional while also being extremely warm and personal —-and she knows her stuff. So easy to talk to and truly made our experience really special. We appreciate you Gillian!!

I've lived in Charlotte since 2005. This was the best meal I've eaten in Charlotte. Period. Awesome food. Awesome drinks. Awesome service. A++++++ experience.

Also, I loved the atmosphere and the vibe. It wasn't stuffy like some other steak houses I've been too uptown and the steaks were better!

Highly recommend their cocktails. My buddy and I went with a recommended Manhattan. All of the food was great, but the jalapeno candied bacon (we ended up getting 2 orders), the steaks, and the short ribs stand out. Can't rave enough about them. My buddy ate every single bite of his ribeye and his wife and devoured the 8oz filets. The seasoning was on point. My wife got the braised short ribs. Ridiculously good.

Make a reservation. Go here, eat and enjoy!

This is the third time I’ve been to The Cellar at Duckworth’s. The first time was during Covid, so this was a very different experience. The place is super cute, it’s downstairs from the duckworths taproom. It was extremely dark down there, probably really good for a date. We ended up sitting at the bar because we couldn’t get a table reservation which was fine. Brett, our bartender, was incredible. He made a really great martini, was attentive, friendly and accommodating. We ended up ordering a bunch of sides and apps and then shared a burger. The food was OK. I remember it being better but it also could’ve been what we ordered. We ended up getting the charred romaine salad, the char-grilled oysters, the brussel sprout and jalapeño flatbread and the burger. I’ll start with the burger first. My friend wanted it medium and I would never eat it that way. I think if it was medium rare, I would’ve liked it a lot better but it was good overall. The other apps were pretty good. I thought the oysters were soggy but the salad had a good taste and crunch. The flatbread was pretty good too even though I feel like it was overpowered by all the arugula on top. Not sure how this happened but we ended up getting the brussels sprouts instead of the salad and then we asked for truffle fries with the burger and it came with regular fries but they brought us the salad and the truffle fries and didn’t charge us. All in all, it was a great experience and I would definitely go back!

The ambience, and food were great. The tuna tartare was off the charts amazing. Service was good. We were there celebrating our anniversary- there was no recognition of that which I feel was a miss. The drinks were made to order with in house made additions which made the drink really taste refreshing. Must go again for sure!

The atmosphere and aesthetic was on point and really felt like the prohibition era speakeasy.
Our server was super friendly and kind too.
The food was amazing, incredibly flavorful and filling. Personal favorite had to be the candied jalapeño bacon 🥓

Yes to the Mimosas. Drinks are good. I tried the fajitas and they didn’t bring the tortillas. The brisket was not that big/tasty. There’s room to improve.
