Great park for dogs & little ones! They have swings and slides for children of all ages. They have trails for runners, bikers or just for a small walk! Great places for your dog to run around on a leash! Awesome park close to the city to get fresh air.

A great little park behind Charlotte Prep and Charlotte Christian schools on Sardis Road. This park connects to McAlpine Greenway but you don’t even have to go on the Greenway for a long walk or run. There are many trails hidden in the woods that you can meandered through and sometimes get lucky running into herd of deers. There are owls that live in the woods here but I have not been quick enough with my camera to get the picture. There are Soccer and baseball fields for family, a playground, and bathroom. I hate to even review this park because I’m afraid I might not be able to park here now. Lol!

McAlpine Greenway connects with trails to explore for miles and plenty of open meadow space or woods! It's kind of busy dog-a-rama on weekends and they really love it here. We saw eight or nine does with young as close as could be. My Phoebe went nuts but I held on!

Great place to practice bicycle, soccer and baseball for kids. The fall color in the park is so beautiful.

In the last few months, I have been to the mountains of North Carolina several times. Specifically I have hiked around Stone Mountain North Carolina and South Mountain. They were great hikes, but I also wanted a local option. I have been to many of the different parks around Charlotte, and the issue I keep running into, is the trail's either have too few sudden elevation changes, or they tried to fit a long trail in such a small area that the trail doesn't feel naturally made. This is not so with James Boyce Park. It is a true hidden gem. Many of the paths are unmarked for the most part. But that is what makes it feel like a adventure to explore. And it feels like your in the foothills, even though you are in the middle of the city. Some parts of the hike actually look like you are in the mountains (the small variety). Additionally, you are far enough away from the main road, that you don't hear cars passing by. If you are looking for a wooded trail, with enough ups and downs, to get your heart pumping, even if your not trail running, and you want a trail that doesn't feel like its going out of its way to make itself longer; If you love that sense of adventure that comes when there's a fork in the path, and your curious where each route will lead next, then James Boyce Park is the place for you.

I used to come to this park when I was a teenager and went to McClintock Junior High in East Mecklenburg High School. My parents have a house in the neighborhood and long time ago and decided to bring my 7yr old daughter and my nephew to my old stomping grounds and they loved it! It's got lots of trails picnic tables BBQ soccer field just a great neighborhood Park

So nice and beautiful walk through the woods. Some noise from the park /sports area nearby but not too bad. Good place to take a break.

Perhaps my favorite small park in Charlotte. Great trails for biking, running, or a walk in the woods. Lots of wildlife as well including deer, raccoon, and tons of frogs.

Even better it now connects to McAlpine Park through the greenway.

This park has a great playground the kids spent hours enjoying, with several things to climb, multiple slide heights, and swings. A large patch of turf near the playground seemed odd to me, but the kids loved doing gymnastics on it. There is a secondary nature playground across the way from the parking lot, in the shade. Fishing is allowed, and there is a path around the pond and through the park for walking, running, and biking. There are turtles, fish, and ducks in the pond and feeders available for them.

Looks like a great place for a little bit of hunting. It's time to stock up the freezers again. Real men and women eat Bambi

I've have been running & walking with my dogs here for over 30 years at this great park. Plenty of trails and in general is not too crowded. Since COVID the park is much busier but the rougher trails are still quiet for the most part. Beware that many people hike with dogs OFF leash in this park. It is very common here to run into dogs off leash especially on the rough trails. There are bathrooms & water most of the year although in winter the park shuts off the water & closes bathrooms.

Its a neat little park, tucked behind the school. If you're looking for a place to burn a couple calories or eat during your lunch hour, I would definitely recommend. There's a playground, baseball field and public restroom as well as walking trail through the woods. Its very quiet despite the busy area - great place for those working in the area who need a moment to think.

Beautiful park with wide, well maintained shady trails for hiking, open fields for sports, and clean bathrooms. It's nice to get a little workout with the elevation changes on the trails without leaving the city! This park also connects to a greenway for longer walks or bike riding.

Great equipment for toddlers and preadolescent children. Nice open fields and landscape for sports, dogs, picnics, games, etc. Walk/bike paths, wooded areas, ample parking.

It's got it all: baseball and soccer fields, nature trails, playground, covered shelter, restrooms. Our homeschool group meets here regularly and there is space and variety for kids to do many things here.

If you don't have time to go to the mountains then this little park is jammed with nature walks. My dog and I did 5 miles of walking around. The park connects to a Greenway if you want to walk more, but I prefer the nature walks inside of Boyce Park better than the mostly straight line Greenway walk.

This is a lovely park for the wonderful, hilly hiking trails, streams and more. It's one of our go to places for me and my puppy.
