Mace Bluff Recreation Area

I found this place on what is probably one of the busiest weekends in the calendar year. It's off the beaten path, but easy to get to from the immediate Nashville area. After a hilly, winding, scenic drive of about 25 minutes from downtown, various brown road signs directed me to this recreation area and several others. All were annoyingly busy, the parking was tight, the access roads were narrow and there wasn't a New York or Midwest accent within earshot. These areas are clearly used predominantly by locals, and the pickup trucks and oversize American flags were in abundance, just in case you were confused about exactly where you were. 🤔 Lots of rafting and tubing was going on, and when the river has more water in it (levels were especially low), there's several canoe outfitters in the area, as was evidence by dozens of canoes, most of which were unoccupied and idle. There's a better time to visit, but 4th of July weekend isn't it. Though if you enjoy crowds and loud locals, this is JUST the place!
