One of the best thrift stores I’ve been to! The staff is so friendly and informative. There are so many beautiful vintage items. The prices are great, and they support the community. They also give you a punch card. Will be coming here regularly now.

Update. Finds are still there. The prices have increased and appear to be aligned more toward retail discount and discontinued prices for the good stuff.

Not sure how inflation hits a merchant that has products with 100% margins.

I'm a merchant too. I sell retail.

I love this. It's still the best around. Yet the basket size didn't increase, the basket value did and as did my anxiety.

Meaning my target $20 budget was a $50 sale.

A tip and a hope. Most of us are impulse buying or looking for targets of various categories.

As a merchant. The goal is to get us on the first pick up. Setting it down is natural but if it's priced right and you are staying busy.(5 to 8 customers inside for a shop this size) There is real threat to loosing the item to someone else watching you shop. We do this instinctively and as merchants we capitalize on it by getting the customer to attach to the product instantly. We pick up the items with our eyes first. If pricing is standardized by category, location or color coded stickers. Our eyes can shop more efficiently and wind up to a mentally aerobic rate. Diminishing our nature to be reserved in purchases with risk.

Along with the bait and catch, standardized or simplified pricing that is not tied to the item itself makes sorting and pricing much more efficient.

Like a stock market. We can speculate a price point for anything but betting on your instinct in sales only works sometimes. Multiplied over hundreds of transactions, the odds are you are loosing more than you gained more then you gained enough to offset the majority of your open and staffed hours.

We have a void in Denison with the dollar tree now costing $1.25. A branding nightmare for the sake of a substantial increase on margins of products who likely have not been impacted enough to justify a storewide increase.

No other store would raise prices on everything to cover the cost of 2 new employees.

They likely do not need federal requirements for insurance access.

Long 3 star small business lesson for raising prices relative to Amazon.

We know it's donated.

The real win in thrift in the end is carbon reduction through reuse, repurpose or retain.

What you want to see in a thrift store is full at open. Empty at night. Refilled by morning and sell the rejected items in mixed bulk mystery boxes by category.

We will buy it all. When we can.
