Big D BBQ & Catering

A great place for the hubs and I to wind down with a chilled beer in hand. We are so excited to be back at Big D's again. This place feels like home sweet home and the food definitely hit the spot. The menu has slimmed down but I prefer it this way, straight to point and guides you to Big D’s favorites. Hubs had the brisket and I ordered a cheese steak brisket. Yum! Plates come with 2 hefty sides of your choice. I chose max n cheese & potato salad which was more than enough to share. We left happy and stuffed! Service was hands down the best part. Indeed, a rare gem in Mansfield. Planning to return with our friends and family for more awesome BBQ, beer and next time board games. Thanks y'all!

I went there to grab a to-go order, I had arrived right when they opened so no one was there yet. This was a 4pm on a Friday, it was nice though that I got to chat with the owner, Gary. He gave me a bit of history from how they started, to where they are at now. Good guy, doing what he loves.

We had ordered quite a few things:

- Brisket
- Ribs
- Texas Brisket Cheesesteak
- Jalapeño Sausage
- Mac & Cheese
- Beans
- Potato Salad
- Skillet Potatoes

Honestly, everything was good. Our favorites were the brisket, sausage (which also had cheese in it), & mac (which had bits of sausage in it). The pinto beans had that flavor set in with little spiciness in the sauce, there were also bits if meat in there as well. For The cheesesteak, Tammy had but the cheese on the side so we could pour it on when we got home. She was also super nice & carrier everything to my car for me. House BBQ sauce, excellent.

I felt a bit sad that it was empty while I was there, I probably waited 15-20 minutes or so for my food while we were talking. Even though I had gotten there at open but prior to the time most people get off work I wish they had more customers. When talking to Gary I got a sense it wasn't as busy as he'd hope for, we think part of it is the location... people don't know they are there. I really only knew about them because I had been going to the bakery next to it, which closed this year. This isn't my first time getting BBQ from them, but prior orders were from when they were on Door Dash. They had closed for a little bit, leased the space, then opened back up after their tenants had left.

Wonderful customer service, prices are fair, & fantastic food. Definitely give them a shot!

We tried two different three meat plates. Our favorite was the burnt ends. The chicken was juicy and everything was tasty. We tried brisket, sausage, pulled pork, chicken, ribs and burnt ends. Sausage Mac and cheese was our favorite side with the Big D pinto beans coming in a close second.

7/22/22: Stopped here with a friend, who lives in Mansfield. From the outside, it looks pretty ordinary. Once inside, the smell of BBQ hits you, and you're transported to a time when great service and great food come together! I had a two meat plate, with pulled pork, brisket (which was sliced in front of me), burnt ends, jalapeño stuffed with brisket then wrapped in bacon (firecracker), fried okra and green beans. The gentleman and his wife take great pride in their food, and make you feel like your family. They checked on us a couple of times to make sure everything was ok. The food was awesome, and they also have a spicy BBQ sauce which has a nice kick! The brisket didn't need any sauce, the pulled pork was great, and the burnt ends were very good. I'd definitely stop by again!

Great experience eating at Big D BBQ this evening. We were visiting from out of town and decided to give it a try.

We ordered family style meal with brisket, Mac n cheese, green beans, and bbq beans. Would love for this place to stay in business so give it a try if you’re in Dallas! Definitely worth visiting.

Staff was very friendly and helpful, and the food was great! I got the brisket grilled cheese, which came with 2 sides - went with the mac & cheese and potatoes.

My first time there today. I went on my lunch break and as soon as I walked in I was greeted with happiness and joy, the place smelled amazing. I ordered to go and it was so fast and friendly. Tasted amazing. Definitely best bbq pulled pork in dfw.

Great food. Great service. Local restaurants have been slow since Covid, and this one took a hit too. However, their BBQ is really good! Try their burnt ends! If Gary is there, he'll too make sure you're taken care of. #EatLocal

My son & I came here for lunch after a swim meet. Friendly staff who offered a tender & delicious brisket sandwich. The sides (mac & cheese, potato skilkets) were tasty as well! I'd love to come back to try their other menu items.

Incredible barbecue!!! Easily the best I’ve had in DFW. Ribs and sliced brisket were so good. The sausage Mac and cheese and honestly all the sides were really good, which is a pet peeve of mine. Most Texas bbq joints just can’t seem to get the sides right, but Big D does! Not to mention local craft beers on tap!! This is my new bbq place for sure!

Great customer service. Food was so good! We had peppered sausage, pulled pork and my favorite was the brisket. The sides! AMAZING, I could really eat all sides and very little meat. The Mac and cheese is SUPERB!!! We loved the corn bake. To me was almost like Mexican street corn with no Chile. The taters were so flavorful and tasty. And the spicy barbecue sauce was the cherry on top! Will definitely return!

Was completely surprised at how consistent the great barbecue is here. My first trip I tried the chicken and brisket and the chicken was so moist as the brisket was too with great flavor and very tender. I did not want to rate yet until I tried the ribs because I am a huge rip connoisseur and if you have eaten at Angelo's in Ft. Worth then you know what good ribs are. I am one to believe that the best pork ribs do not need any sauce whatsoever, and the ribs at Big D met that test and are awesome as is. Great smoke ring & flavor, tender and meat came nearly clean off the bone. Was a great two visits. It is so nice to have this place this close to home.

1st time here. Let me say that I was welcomed as if they've known me for years. They gave a sample of the turkey, and lord oh lord. Definitely will be ordering for Thanksgiving. The brisket is moist and full of flavor. Their okra is definitely something you should try. I can go on, but my food is getting cold.

Come in, you won't regret it

BBQ was delicious. I got it to go. The wrapping was so good, it didn’t leak at all. That was impressive since I made a few stops before going home. The bun was the best tasting bun that I have ever had. Staff is very friendly. Sauce was really good. I highly recommend the pulled pork. Best ever!

Fall apart tender, absolutely delicious and the staff is just great. Worth the trip every time. The cupcake place next door is just icing on the cake too

Wow!! Wow!! Wow!!
I went in google just looking for a barbecue nearest to me little did I know that my taste buds are in for a savory treat. Not only did I have impeccable service provided by the lady up and young gentleman up front I wish I had the gentleman‘s name to but Tammy went above and beyond. I was greeted when I walked into the door. And personally catered to. I’ve never been here before so wasn’t sure what all they had to offer about they got me just right. I had sausage, turkey and all of the sides. And then the sourdough bread OMG. I’ll definitely be back!! once I placed my order and my food was ready Tammie personally walked around the counter and help load and deliver my order into the car. Not too many people go above and beyond which is why I was blown away. Great service great food I will definitely be back.
