The pool has a great view, comfortable seating and all the restaurants have a phenomenal menu.
Fun sitting in the lobby at Goldie’s and people watching. Definitely a trendy place to be and the lounge seating is so comfortable.

What a wonderful hotel staffed by the nicest people! I have to shout out the valet team, particularly Luke and Nolan, for starting off every visit with a smile and a kind word. These interactions set the tone for a great visit every time. They are both great assets to the Proper team and I am grateful for their quality of service.

Austin proper is one of the most chique hotels I have ever stayed at! My boyfriend and I really enjoyed the room as well as the restaurant downstairs. My favorite part was the service. I felt like I was treated like royalty.

We had a magical stay. I can’t say enough how wonderful this was. From the staff at check-in, who were warm and friendly, to the room and welcome gifts, the amenities, the room service. I was so impressed!

Everyone is looking to be luxury, and it’s easy to miss the mark, but Austin Proper knows what they are doing, down to every detail!

I am an infrequent reviewer but a frequent user of reviews. However, the Proper Austin tops the list!

My wife and I are both well travelled and are accustomed to knowing what we like. We stayed at the Proper Austin for a small conference and i can say unequivocally, that we will be back. SIMPLY PUT THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST HOTEL VIBE AND SERVICE VENUES I'VE BEEN TOO ANYWHERE IN THE US.

The experience started with a massive thunderstorm that routed us in air from inbound Atlanta to Austin, but grounded into Houston for Thursday night. I called Proper, they picked up on the second ring, "no problem sir we'll update your account and check you in on Friday and won't charge you for the Thursday night" "Is there anything we can do for you in the meantime"

I mean what hotel actually asks that and means it, so far only the Proper!

Arrival on Friday - bellmen asked for our name, took us to check in personally. They checked us in probably under two minutes, room was ready, offered champagne and water with a quick overview of hotel.

We went to our conference late. Conference facilities were quaint but spacious and decadent. We ended the afternoon at the pool with excellent service.

The entire experience just keeps getting better, from the smells in the hotel, to the decadent spa and amazing Massage by Sky. The coffee bar in the morning, the service was outstanding. We went to dinner at Lenoire (another amazing restaurant in Austin) then returned to the hotel to find a line for getting into the hotel. Bouncer/Doormaan "sir I noticed you are a guest, please come this way and enjoy yourself, you do not need to wait in line" no hassles.

The bar scene is incredible, interesting people and all friendly and willing to engage in conversation. The second night i didn't even need to place my order, the female bartender (never got her name, apologies) already knew what I wanted and elegantly delivered it.

We dined at the breakfast restaurant (ground floor) on Sunday of our departure. They have Shakshuka, which is hard to find and is amazing. They ran a little over on the order and without even asking or complaining the server said "I apologize it's taken so long, the meal is on us" Personally, i didn't feel it was that long. Then i went to tip the server because they didn't bring the bill and she said, "No Sir, I'm already taken care of"

Outbound the doorman Luke from LA asked us about experience, encouraged us to come back and helped quickly load our bags into our Uber and bode us farewell.

I'm not sure what Operating System they are working off of, but as a business owner I admire there secret sauce. I/We will definitely seek out Proper Hotels and more particularly Austin as we move about. I cannot express how impressed i was with Austin as a town.

To the staff and management "bravo, job well done"

I initially used to visit JW downtown during my trips to Austin, but after it recently started becoming overcrowded, I decided to give Austin Proper a try, and I am very glad that I did! The hotel has so many great restaurants, the staff are so welcoming, and the spa as well as gym are very luxurious. I also rented a Tesla for a night, which was something really unique that I haven't done at any other hotel. I’m glad I made the choice to upgrade after my first night because the suite I stayed in was very nice and open, with beautiful views of Austin’s downtown. The rooms are all decorated very nicely, and it’s clear that they invested heavily in design and technology. I would highly recommend and will definitely be coming back!

Amazing Drinks! Wonderful Food!
We had a late lunch at the restaurant La Piscina on the 5th floor.
The food is amazing, we had some oysters, tuna tartare(fabulous!) and some steak and shrimp fajitas.
Everything was outstanding!
Got a drink that would totally recommend, El Fantasma,
we Sub tequila with Mezcal and it was delicious.
Great Staff, very attentive and caring!

My family and I recently had the pleasure of dining at Proper Austin on Christmas Eve, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with a warm welcome and seated promptly by the attentive staff.

The service provided by Shea, our server, was nothing short of superb. She was knowledgeable, friendly, and went above and beyond to ensure that our dining experience was top-notch. She patiently answered all our questions, made excellent recommendations, and ensured that our glasses were never empty.

Now, let's talk about the food. The menu at Proper Austin offers a delightful variety of options, and each dish we ordered was a true culinary masterpiece. From the appetizers to the main course and dessert, every bite was bursting with flavor and expertly prepared. The presentation was also impeccable, showcasing the chef's attention to detail. Overall, our experience at Proper Austin exceeded our expectations.

My favorite hotel in Austin. Everything about this hotel is elevated. The service is excellent. The rooms are a great balance of modern, leaning towards swanky, but still warm. The restaurant and bar options are delicious- love Peacock and main bar is a vibe. The spa was an enjoyable and relaxing experience. Not a cheap stay by any means, however, this is the type of property where you get what you pay for. Overall, a feather in the cap!

So far this is my favorite hotel in Austin. Being a Marriott Bonvoy hotel makes it even more enjoyable. The property is top notch and has great amenities. The dining options are great and there is a fresh and lively atmosphere. It is quite a hot spot in the evenings.

My favorite hotel in Austin, and also my favorite place to hang out. The downstairs cocktail bar is absolutely amazing - ask for Marshall! He is a master of his craft and when I can never seem to make up my mind, he always impresses me with new, inventive cocktails and great recommendations. I was in town for business recently and took a group of clients there for a pre-dinner drink. After an issue with our dinner reservation elsewhere, the manager, Jordan, worked some magic and was able to get us a table for 9 people last minute at La Piscina on the 5th floor. The food, ambiance, and service were incredible and we had such a great time. Will definitely be back!

I only had coffee there, as i was just passing, but I loved this hotel. Gorgeous decoration, lovely looking restaurants, and swimming pool! Charming staff.

A Heartbreaking Betrayal: The Vanishing of Honey Roasted Carrots

As a loyal patron of the Proper Hotel, I never imagined I'd be penning such a scathing review. Alas, the unthinkable has happened: my beloved honey roasted carrots with zaatar seasoning and avocado cream sauce have been unceremoniously removed from the menu. This devastating news has left me reeling, my heart heavy with sadness, dismay, and depression.

The honey roasted carrots were a symphony of flavors, a culinary masterpiece that brought joy to my taste buds. The sweet, caramelized carrots harmonized with the earthy zaatar seasoning, while the velvety avocado cream sauce elevated the dish to heavenly heights. Now, all that remains is a void, a carrot-shaped hole in my soul that no other dish can fill.

What's worse, the hotel never bothered to notify me of this tragic decision, despite knowing it was my favorite menu item. This blatant disregard for my feelings is a slap in the face, a betrayal that cuts deep. I feel disrespected and violated, as if the hotel has ripped away a cherished part of my dining experience without a second thought.

In conclusion, the Proper Hotel's decision to remove the honey roasted carrots from their menu is a severe and significant disappointment. The lack of communication only adds insult to injury, leaving me to mourn the loss of a dish that once brought me immeasurable happiness.

Probably the best hotel in Austin, the style of the decor it's spectacular, the restaurants are amazing and they have a beautiful Whiskey selection. Rooms are beautiful and the location it's perfect to walk around downtown

The Austin Proper Hotel is the best hotel in Austin. I only stay at the Austin Proper when I come to Austin -- 7 stays this year -- some for business and some for personal. The hotel is beautiful, staff is friendly, pool is incredible, the spa is top notch, workout center (love the pilates reformer machines) and all of the food at Proper's restaurants (Peacock, La Piscina, and Goldie's for drinks) are great. I look forward to continuing to stay at the Austin Proper the next time I'm in Austin

Gorgeous hotel with staff you normally don’t find in Austin but rather in bigger cities. International, well trained, experienced staff. Custom-interiors well appointed.

Excellent experience. Definitely a happening place. The staff is helpful and friendly. The rooms are comfy, stylish, well appointed with high ceilings and large windows. Everything is automatic to the lights and shade but very intuitive to use. The area is great. Lots of restaurants within a block. Food at the hotel is excellent. Grocery store 2 blocks away. Enjoyed riding the electric bikes along the river. Pool was nice and warm.
