Moontower Saloon

Menchaca Road has slowly been transforming into a place where popular Austin hangouts have been opening new locations. I live nearby it and was time to see it again where my first place was the Moontower Saloon.

I brought my wife during the day for lunch. The place had that Texas country feel with the gravel parking lot, rustic bar, outdoor seating under huge live oak trees, small stage, fire pit, food trucks and to my surprise sand volleyball courts. The place had a wonderful atmosphere.

First we ordered food at one of the food trucks called Hot Texas Grills where the other was Fried Heaven but was not opened. While I waited for my Buffalo Chicken Quesadilla, I walked inside the bar to order a local beer. The bartender was nice and admired all the stickers behind her. This place looked like it had been here for decades with its old wood look almost like a dive bar.

We sat outside on the deck checking out the place. The volleyball courts was located at the far end and was busy. This place was also dog friendly too. It was a very relaxing atmosphere to enjoy a beer and food at.

Attentive service and great crowd. Hosted a trivia night and had 🤩 Thanks for letting me be a DJ for a bit :) Grilled cheese with pulled pork was so good I forgot to get a picture 🧀

Plenty of tables, great beer selection and music. Very reasonable price. The food is rated on the food trucks. Must spend at least $20 to get free parking, at night anyway. Highly recommend the tater tots if the food truck is still around.

Wanted a fun place to bring the dogs and this was the spot! Made so many new friends and my dogs got lots of pets from workers and patrons. The drinks were delicious and pricing wasn't too bad. Food from the BBQ food trucks was delicious and made very quickly. I would definitely be coming back here very soon!
Back a few weeks later and like it still!

I enjoyed the half outdoors, half indoors set-up and casual vibe about this place. There were picnic tables and food truck outdoors. Indoors you find the bar and funky signs in the washroom indoors. This place is a fun experience when out with a group!

Went to meet a friend for coffee... Was delicious... Added bonus was the kid's event and band happening out back at the venue... So fun to watch the kiddos playing and having fun and the parents enjoying the music and watching their children at play...

Great outdoor venue to enjoy a beer. Lots of trees and fans. Volleyball games are fun to watch annnnd the best part....its dog friendly!

Beautiful outdoor, great service.
The food truck outside $15 per baked potatoes were horrendous.
The atmosphere here is amazing.

This was a very positive outdoor/indoor/ covered & opened area. Good vibes and I highly recommend the Jim bean peach lemonade.

Really cute, relaxed outdoor space. Great beer. There are some sand volleyball courts and grilling stations made from an old car part if I remember correctly. They have beautiful rusted lighting in the trees and lots of LED fairy lights. Great place to catch up!

Highly recommend Moontower for creating such an enjoyable and welcoming space that offers some of the following:

-indoor and outdoor seating
-beach volleyball courts
-outdoor games (corn hole, connect 4, etc.)
-pet & child friendly
-food trucks
-photo booth

The ambiance during the evening was spectacular, highly recommend! 🌝 🍻

Super dog friendly! Great outdoor space, tons of seating to choose from. Could spend all day here.

What a wonderful atmosphere this place has! It's not like being downtown for a drink. Friendly, is the best word to describe it. There's also a bonus, the food trucks are good.

Great atmosphere and fun even in the heat. Big oaks provide shade for spectators and the misters helped cool me down quiet a bit. People are nice and it's pet friendly! They had good food and drinks too. I will go back again!

This place is great. Large area with lots of places to sit. We went during a cold night and they had 3 or 4 fire pits, heaters and a warm enclosed area. They have one food trailer which serves yummy bar food. Beers on drafts, cans, cocktails, non alcoholic beverages as well. Live band was performing. This place is also fun during the summer. They have volleyball courts and outside bar games.

Such a chill, dog friendly spot! It's fun to watch drunk volleyball while listening to awesome live local bands!

Atmosphere is super chill and fun. I love the Adirondack chairs around the fire pits and the cool café lights. The food and drinks are awesome. The cucumber watermelon chiller was outstanding and that brisket grilled-cheese thing was killer.

Great times, fun events, huge outdoor space with three volleyball courts and super dog-friendly. Beautiful space to take a break from urban Austin and enjoy a little slice of country Texas away from the busy streets. Plenty of parking, fun locals as well, live music sometimes - check the schedule.

Great Saturday night venue. Laid back. Under the trees. Listening to a band.
