I really enjoyed hiking here. It was my dogs birthday so I brought her out and Thankfully there was just enough water for her to lay in and enjoy while cooling off.

Most excellent off leash area with beautiful trails along the creek! Massive cypress trees ❤🥰

The Onion Creek Greenbelt is the result of flooding in 2014 that wiped out a subdivision. Nearly 500 homes ended up being bought out and demolished and the area allowed to return to nature. It is so peaceful as the park is lightly used. There are decomposed granite paths as well as the streets that were the subdivion's thoroughfares. The entire area is off leash walking for dogs and the dogs just love it. One can easily get 3-5 miles in if you use all of the pathways and roads for your route.

The whole park is like a Pokémon adventure. From open fields filled w/ trainers and their sidekicks and poopy landmines, to creeks with mysterious birds, to breezy forests where a legendary ??? animal resides that some say may be a pig that makes sounds like Lee Majors. Dont forget to top up on health and goji berries at the doggie food truck there before you set off for some major XP gains!

Doggie diarrhea rating: 2/5!!!

Ugh. I've been putting off this review for years. Not because I don't love this place but because I covet it. And this is the truth : this is the absolute, hands down, best dog park in Austin. It's definitely the biggest. Dig this, it's 555 acres. I know, right! Who knew?!?! And onion creek is like eighty something miles long. It's crazy. It's been getting more popular since the last of the houses got bought out by the city and then they put in trails and gazebos and grills and whatnot. This place floods so the city bought all the houses in one area. There's other parts of this place that still have a few holdouts. Maybe 5 or 6. And since covid there's usually a few RV people living there. They ripped a lot out to build the trails but all the driveways are still there. It's a little weird. But this place is hardly ever crowded and desolate in the morning. They even have a dog treat food truck now. Pawstin bakery, pretty cool. I want so much that this place stays a little southeast Austin secret. Most people pass it up because Mckinney falls park is 2 minutes away. That's fine. This park is off leash and free and I love it. I've been going there with my dogs since '03 or so. It's a great place to train your dog socially because it's not like other dog parks with 200 dogs in a small area. You can spread out here. Anyhoo six stars if I could.

Hidden gem for a great spot to bring your pup and stroll along a nice waterside trail.

Really shouldn't have slept on this trail for so long. Butterflies, bluebonnets, horses, total jungle haven ! So lucky to live near here

Great park for a walk, well maintained trails go thru lush vegetation and fields of flowers. Convenient ample parking with restrooms. Also, it’s interesting to walk along former streets of flood mitigation area, where all the great trees are still in place, but houses are gone and streets turned into wide alleys with rest areas and playgrounds on the sides. (Talking about Onion Creek Metropolitan Park, if it's the same)

Always a peaceful time at this hidden gem. As much as I've grown to dislike the off-leash Emma Long trails, these trails are able to be off leash and not annoying since frankly not a lot of people know about it.

I have not been here in some years, the place is getting much better. My dogs LOVED it!! They love being off leash and this place lets them run all their energy off.

Off leash dog trail with plenty of water entry spots and lots of room for your dog to run around. Not a challenging trail at all-barely any incline ever. Can be VERY muddy after raining so dress accordingly.

Best part of the greenbelt if you're hoping to enjoy nature and not so much the interaction with the masses. Sprawling, well landscaped/clean trails and ever improving on the upkeep, public park restroom playground and covered picnic tables and access to water make this an unequalled slice of greenbelt for you the dogs and even the kids. 10/10.

There are some fairly well maintained wooded trails her that are excellent for running if you don't mind some minor elevation change and water crossings. There are also gravel and concrete walkways if you prefer staying neat the parking area.

This place is amazing.
Even though it's near Town but it makes anyone feel as if they are far from civilization far from civilization it is just a comfort peace and tranquility away from all the hustle and bustle.

Yes there was a recent rattlesnake attack at this park resulting in the death of a Min-Pin, so BE CAREFUL. I also saw a CORAL SNAKE on the trail past the creek crossing. It was a big one, on the move into the brush, so dog walkers and riders be aware, be careful! Some off leash dogs, and runners but everyone is very nice about sharing the trail. Dog people please be aware horses can get spooked by dogs that run up on them or behind them. They can also kick so please be aware and let riders know you are approaching if coming up from behind.Trails are a bit overgrown in some areas, still lots of work going on in old neighborhood. Creek was low but running!

Easy parking, great trails, perfect for my dog. The stream isn't too deep most of the time so the dogs can play hard. It can get pretty crowded on a hot day but it's big enough that the crowds thin if you are willing to go for a walk.

The trail is loose sand so if you bring a cooler with wheels it may be a hard pull for some parts!

Fun dog park with a large play area near the parking lot. A few access points to water. Trail can be narrow at times
