Wow ! I cannot say enough good things about Grass Roots Energy! Max was the lead tech on the job who did a fantastic job with replacing my 30+ year old gas direct vent to a more modern direct vent fireplace. Max and his team were courteous to our house, polite, and didn't cut any corners while installing. These guys just got down to business to get the job done in 2 days ! Amy was so nice and patient answering my many questions over the phone. She is a big part of the reason I decided to use Grass Roots. Mark the owner was also worth my mention. He was calm and never tried to pressure us into a decision. He assured us of what the plan would be and spent time explaining what the project would entail before we even made a decision. They even were able to use the same mantel per our request. This team as a whole is just awesome. I cannot thank them enough for just getting us what we wanted. Wish they could have seen my wife's face when she got home from a hard day's work to a nice roaring fire 🔥 🔥. Thanks Grass Roots Energy and we look forward to a long association together.

Mark and his crew did a great job transforming our fireplace. Mark was very knowledgeably and gave us sound design advice. They worked tirelessly, tidied up after themselves and were great to work with. We love our new wood burner. We would definitely recommend.

Mark and his team are great. They do not push you into expensive features or add-on's. They care more that you're happy and are very responsive to email and phone calls. The installers are friendly and take extra time to walk you through operating the unit and answering questions on-site. We plan to order a new hearthstone next. Happy to spend money at a local business!

AMAZING EXPERIENCE FROM START TO FINISH!!! Mark returned my voicemail promptly, was willing to take a deposit on a stove until we could pick it up (since we live an hour away). The whole process was so smooth, everyone so helpful, and the pickup experience was so easy and quick too! I don't often leave reviews but this place deserves one. Great price, great customer service, A++++ !!!!

We bought a chimney piping kit from here. The quality is amazing, the transaction went great and smooth. They are very knowledgeable and very helpful if you have questions. They have pipes in the showroom for display as well as stoves.
I'm very impressed with this place. I would recommend it to anyone.
I went to another distributor and I paid double. So I will be returning the more expensive ones, also they were cheaper quality.

Excellent experience with Grass Roots! I was looking for a wood stove that would qualify for the federal tax credit and was able to find what I needed (Ambiance Hipster 14). Andy & Anielleo were pros who did a fantastic job with the install. They uninstalled the old fireplace, including all the 1960's venting, and got the new one in quickly. It looks great and and is extremely efficient! Mark was very helpful with the quote and the right size of stove for my space. Amy was great to work with regarding the financial bit. Recommend Grass Roots without hesitation!!

I had a wood burning insert put in a old home. Everyone at Grass Roots is very professional. The installation went great. They did a excellent job on making the existing stone work so we would still have the arch.

I was greeted by Andy who was very knowledgeable and patient and explained the workings of gas and wood burning stoves.

He answered all my questions in a way that I understood what he was talking about and Im a complete novice with stoves.

The prices for everything installed was more than I was expecting but Im not saying they're expensive, it is what it is for quality product and pro installation.

I would recommend them.

Amazing Company, product and service! Purchased a Lopi Freedom wood burning insert from Grass Roots at least 17 years ago. We were so pleased with how helpful they were at that time. We had them install the fireplace insert and we used it every day in winter for years. When we relocated from Mchenry County to Kane county we had them remove the lopi and install it in our new place. Again, they were wonderful to work with. After 17 years we needed a few replacement parts and Mark in customer service listened to what I needed, gave me a fair and reasonable price, and even though it was obviously a busy time at the shop, made me feel understood and appreciated. This is "small business" at it's best. You will not be disappointed - come here for quality products, replacement parts at fair prices, and excellent & knowledgeable customer service

I liked my fireplace and the service and craftsmanship that Grass Roots provided so much I got a 2nd fireplace put in my home the next year. Both fireplaces they installed are beautiful and they have actually lowered my gas bill this winter. Every time I work with them they are responsive and very respectful of my home and my time. Thanks Grass Roots, I've used my new fireplaces every day this winter and have stayed warm and cozy!!

I had them do some work on my chimney, and they did an awesome job! Very knowledgeable staff that is there to get the job done. They were very courteous and have reasonable rates. Also looked at getting an insert, and they were able to help me sort through the options.

We’ve used Grass Roots for several family homes over the past thirty years. They’ve provided wood burning stoves, wood burning fireplace inserts, and ventless fireplaces. I also use them for chimney cleaning. They are always easy to work with, never any pressure, really knowledgeable about their products, and have done a superlative job with every project.

I'm not sure why the previous reviewer had a bad experience, but I have dealt with Mark from Grass Roots on a number of occasions and have always found him to be very professional. In fact, our company provides complimentary services and we've referred Grass Roots to own our customers for some of the services that we don't provide. So the bottom line is that we've nothing but good experiences so far and I would not hesitate to refer Grass roots again.
