We LOVE Carlos River Cafe! Delicious food and fast service. Pro tip—their breakfast entrees are delicious but it’s BYOC—Bring Your Own Coffee. Prices are low! We come for the food and we stay for the decor and cheerful service! Enjoy the authentic Mexican music and immersive ambiance! They make their own chips and three salsa. Go here, eat, and be happy.

We had not been there in quite a while but recently ordered take out and I'm so glad to say it is delicious as it ever was. I ordered the chicken nachos and they do not scimp on the meat. It's well worth every penny. My husband said his steak burrito was so good. I recommend you try this place

Nice little Cafe style restaurant. Food tasted great. Service was good. Next time I'm trying out other dishes. A gem in crystal lake.

Grew up down the street from here. Never had them much and haven’t had them for a while. Wanted Mexican food so I went in and ordered. They have a great menu. Got chips, guac, salsa, a burrito and some quesadillas. Everything was great. Will be back.

Great service. The server was so nice and patient with my daughter with special needs. The food was really flavorful. My wife and kids all enjoyed their meals. I ordered the Chicken Chinichanga. Crispy and full of flavor. Their salsa Roja is one of my favorites. My wife likes their salsa Verde.
Chips are very crispy and fresh from the frier. We'll be back.

This place is great if you like steak and cheese, get the steak burrito dinner you won’t be disappointed.

Found this spot through work and it has become my go to place for tacos and everything else. The absolute best chorizo tacos around. Flavor is on point every time. The sauces are good and the portion sizes are just perfect. As Authentic as it gets!

Someone forgot to put my order in, but the food was so good it was worth the wait. Great red and green salsa. Taco salad was yummy!

Still our favorite takeout, but we miss dining in. Always great food.

My family and I eat dinner out only 3 times a month. Carlos is almost always a monthly choice. Our order is always made correctly. The prices are affordable. The service is friendly. We really really like this place.

I've been going here for years with friends and we'll continue to go back as we get older. Amazing chimichangas and just great food overall. Prices are reasonable for the quality of food you receive. Carlos is a really nice guy and I will always be happy to support this business. There is a lot of great Mexican food in the area but this place is my favorite.

The atmosphere was quite unique, small room with the menu on the wall above the cashier. If you're looking for a small place to get a quick bite with 2 or 3 people then this is an excellent choice. The service speed was as one would expect from a small cafe (Around 10 minutes, closer to 5) and the Mexican Sunshine was delicious. Not bad at all

Great place to eat and their food is spectacular. Best burritos and tacos I've ever had. I've been eating here for years and the food is made fresh and right and front of you. It is a family friendly place you can eat there or take it to go. Love this place and oh the staff there are GREAT!!!! Can't say enough good things about this place.

We live nearby and this is a regular stop, our favorite for Mexican food. So good that my son had them cater his wedding. A great menu and a friendly crew. If I had to pick a favorite, it might be the steak burrito. We are lucky to have them just down the road.

Very nice clean place, you are welcome with always fresh chips and salsa food is always good. I enjoy having a Shrimp cocktail from this place, very tasty. I recommend any dish on the menu. Highly recommend this place to everyone.

Probably the best and most authentic Mexican food you can get anywhere around here. Always made fresh right in front of you, even the chips are fried fresh while your meal cooks. The guacamole and the salsa are to die for. I have tried everything on the menu, and everything is absolutely awesome. Love this place and will never go anywhere but Carlos'.
