They’ve installed Night Fision fixed lower 1/3 night sights co-witness to my Holosun RDS on my Sig Sauer P365x and my Sig P365x Macro TacOps. They’re are spot on and perfect. Then I brought my dad’s childhood Springfield Model 15 .22lr and they serviced it! Very happy with this local business. Angela is the best, too.

All I can say is WOW...WOW...WOW!!!

I brought in a Walther PP with an inoperable safety on a Tuesday afternoon. Less than 48 hours later, I received an email from Gibbs that the pistol had been repaired and was ready to be picked up. That's fantastic customer service and the charge was a more than reasonable $60.00.

I've used Gibbs for multiple FFL transfers and it's always been an easy and flawless experience. They may be a small shop, but they're in a really convenient location right in the middle of town, and they're always friendly and happy to help their customers. I highly recommend them to everyone I speak with!

I had been away from shooting for several years. As I got back into the sport I found myself dissatisfied with most of the "gunsmiths" in the south suburbs. I kept hearing about Gibbs in Manhattan, Illinois from other people.
Bringing an old Colt, series 80, 1911 to them, which had confounded a few of the local gunsmiths I met Paula and Jeffrey Gibbs, the family that runs the business.
We spoke for about forty minutes. The level of professionalism, sense of humor and warmth I found was impressive. I turned my 1911 over to them and they were able to easily fix the broken weapon (an old style buffer spring laser had broken the slide release). After further discussion I had the weapon cerakoted, replacing the old slightly rusted factory finish. When I got the weapon back, not only did it look great but the "factory" weapon had been masterfully tightened leaving it better than the day I had purchased it. It now shoots better than the day I bought it decades earlier.
When I went to pick that weapon up another discussion ensued and I bought an Armalite M4 from them. Since I'm a lefty Paula suggested that the scope that came with it might be blocked by the original fixed sights and made recommendations that would improve it - it did. They have worked on several weapons since then and It never fails to amaze me the level of customer service received.
Most recently, Jeff mentioned how well the Glock 40 functioned and two weeks later he had fixed one up for me with extended slide releases and left handed magazine release.
There may be competent gunsmiths out there. However, every one I spoke to was too busy, not able to answer questions or in one case told me I should learn to shoot right handed to make it easier - for him.
The Gibbs made me glad to get back into this sport again. Look them up, it is definitely worth the trip.

Since they’ve opened, I’ve used Jeff Gibbs & Gibbs Gunsmithing for multiple FFL transfers, some scope/custom work on my AR as well as replacing sights on a couple handguns. The shop may be small & hours atypical, but I can’t say enough about how honest & easy to deal with all the people I’ve encountered there have been.

I stopped using my old FFL because of some dishonest tactics. I’ve experienced none of that with Gibbs Gunsmithing. Very reasonable cost for FFL transfers & great communication and quick responses from Paula or Jeff whenever I’ve reached out.

If you’re looking for an honest, trustworthy FFL or custom gun work in the South Suburbs (Manhattan/New Lenox/Frankfort/Mokena, especially) you should give Gibbs a try.
