We stopped here for breakfast and they were very busy!! The seating was limited due to the patio areas being closed because of the cold weather. Despite this, they were able to see us relatively quickly. The service was great. The food tasted fantastic! Overall an excellent experience. Would definitely come back!

100% recommend if you're visiting Mackinaw or the upper peninsula. The wait wasn't bad even during peak time and the food came out hot and delicious! This was the best meal we've had. Joe was walking around talking to everyone which was awesome. And Sandy knows how to run a restaurant and make everyone feel welcome and taken care of. We had such a great experience. I'm very glad we stopped by!

On our four day vacation in the St Ignace are we had breakfast EVERY day here. Joe walked around greeting everyone and discussing their vacation plans and offered tips. His advice made our day trip to the Soo Locks much more enjoyable. My family of four loved the food so much we want to visit the area again soon. The coffee is excellent and the servers keep your cup from going empty. The waffles and pancakes are perfect.

Had a vegetarian frittata with sausage on the size. Very generous portions. Seems like they add only a little bit of salt and leave it up to the diner to customize salt and spice level — which is totally understandable. They have an extensive menu and I barely scratched the surface. Will have to try the crepes and pancakes next time.

This my first stop here in over 10 years, and nothing has really changed (that's a good thing). The food was great, I had the traditional Eggs Benedict. It wasn't too busy, but I was in before the lunch crowd and after the breakfast crowd.

Java Joes has always been a family favorite. I have gone since I was a child and it has never failed to disappoint. The atmosphere is great. They have the best hot chocolate and pancake variations that you can find. Crepes are a hit as well. I can confidently say that Java Joes is my absolute favorite breakfast place I have been too. I took my wife there for her first time and it is now her favorite breakfast restaurant as well. It is a must go!

Love love love this place!!! So much so, that we ate here TWICE while on vacation!! We don’t usually eat at the same places twice. I will say the service and server were better the first time around…not so much the second time. The coffee was awesome…my hubby had just plain coffee but I had the caramel nut latte and it was DELICIOUS!!! I had the banana nut pancakes with hash browns. My hubby had bacon, eggs and pancakes, and we shared an order of biscuits and gravy! Everything was delicious! They have the cutest collection of tea pots also…lots of interesting decor inside! We would definitely come back again while visiting the area!

Best restaurant we ate at on our trip. The restaurant is small but it's cozy and it's family owned. The owners are so nice, always ask where you're from and very attentive. It's so nice and cheerful, the employees act like they've known their customers for years! My apple cinnamon pancakes were so good! Will definitely come again.

This place was an overall great experience, if I could give it a 6 star review I would. Better yet I think I will, because you, Java Joe deserve it!
6 star review coming up!
The most import thing I want to say is that the food was top notch, good quality food and great presentation! Tastes even better. If you don't have time to read the rest of the review then all you need to know is don't cut yourself short but not eating here. Don't read another review you have found your place to eat!

From the outside this breakfast joint looks like a hippy shack painted a bunch of colors with no parking place. This is the moment where you need to realize this place is worth walking a mile. Go in, don't turn around. I definitely think they need a bigger building, however we where seated in under 5 min. And the place was packed. The older lady who is the grease to the wheel was 1/4 of my experience at this place. She was funny, direct and did not mess around with her restaurant standards. Thanks unnamed old lady for all you do! The menu was huge and had unique options. I went with 4 grown men and we each ordered two entrees. Get the hot cocoa, then get another, and another because it is free refills! Yum! We had the coconut French toast, biscuits and gravy, banana nut French toast, light morning breakfast, raspberry crepes, Hawaiian omelette, hobo omelet, blue berry pancakes.
Everything was amazing!
Our waitress Nam was great and friendly. The cook Jackie deserves an award, mind blown, how can such good food and variety of food, and quality be made so fast in that small of a space. It was like magic! I really do wish this place had a new building with a few more seats, but stayed small to keep the experience. I am from Minnesota but will definitely go out of my way to fit this place into my travel plans.
Thanks Java Joe's for exceeding all of my expectations!!

Absolutely LOVED this place! We stayed close by for a girls trip and ended up here twice. Joe was super friendly and chatted with everyone and is even the one making the coffee! Other staff were very friendly as well. The decor is super fun and cheerful and you can't help but smile and be happy! I also got my future told by the Java Joe fortune teller out front, which was actually spot on and fun! The menu is HUGE and there is definitely something for everyone! We both loved what we ordered both days! If ever in the area again, this will be a stop for sure! It is a very busy place and rightfully so, but they get you seated as fast as they can and our wait was never too long.

This is the best cafe for having breakfast in St Ignace. Their staff service is just awesome. We felt like we are having our food in our home. Dishes were just awesome.
We have tried grilled cheese sandwich, chocolate chips pancake.
Service: 5/5

Definitely a breath of fresh air in an area full of tourist traps. Breakfast is great and fairly priced. The owners and staff make every customer feel welcome and appreciated. Would highly recommend coming here for a meal or coffee. Has a small gift shop as well.

When I looked up what to do/where to eat in St. Ignace - Java Joe's Cafe came up as a popular destination, so popular that you have to arrive early to get a table. It's true! It's very popular and rightly so. The decor both on the exterior and interior is very colorful - in a fun way. (Even the floor is painted in bold designs & colors - I found out the artist is the owners' son.) Not only did I meet the proprietor, I also got to sit at his table for breakfast - he went around to all of the customers and asked where we were from. Java Joe's menu is extensive and known for unusual selections - I went with a more traditional fare (corned beef hash)which was delicious.
P.S. The menus detail the origin of "Java Joe's Cafe" that is just as colorful as the current incarnation and namesake.

By far and single-handedly, one of the best cups of gourmet coffee I've ever had.! It was our first experience at Joe's today. And definitely will not be our last! A wonderful, small hometown feel coffee shop/restaurant with one of the most friendliest people I believe I've ever had the opportunity and pleasure to meet. 10 out of 10 and I will definitely recommend to anyone who will listen.

Love the place and staff’s energy! They were so kind. Food was okay, we had the most basic options though . I was so happy and satisfied that I bought one of their mug, it makes me remember that nice morning whenever I use it!

Awesome food, lovely service and great location.
We stumbled upon this place to grab a quick bite and fell in love.
Service: Joe and Sandy are fun, warm and welcoming. They do have a small kitchen - so make sure to budget enough time when you visit the place.
Food: We ordered a bunch of omelets which were tasty and had sumptuous portions. The menu has something for everyone. Highly recommend for a hearty breakfast/brunch before you head to the Mackinac Island.
Ambience: the place has a very nice, cozy ambience. The outdoor dining area is great for lete groups

Overall - awesome experience. Great food.

This was my boyfriends and I first time visiting this little establishment and I must say, it didn't disappoint!! Amazing, friendly and attentive staff, they made you feel like family and the food was amazing! I ordered the ham and cheese omelette and my boyfriend had the traditional breakfast. Food arrived to the table in a timely manner, even with them being very busy. We waited maybe 5 minutes for a table and the colorful decor of this little place, I just love it! It has a very home town and welcoming feeling, so another great little spot to visit for sure!
