Taco Universe at Black Creek

Sanford Michigan is probably the last place you would think to yourself "I wonder if there's anywhere around here to get some good tacos"? Well I have an answer for you, and the answer is yes you can. My wife and I tried this place tonight and it was fabulous. Nothing fancy, just a small little place on West River Road. No, you can't get a margarita or a beer there. But the tacos are first rate and seriously delicious. Some will complain that the tacos are small, but seriously, they're only $2 each, what do you expect? I had a sliced pork, braised pork and the chorizo tacos, all were excellent but the braised pork especially shined. The salsa was fresh, flavorful and not very hot (could have been hotter for my taste) and the chips were freshly made. We also tried the beans, which were outstanding. Seriously, do yourself a favor and go try their tacos. This place is the real deal, I thought I was in Tucson or Southern California. I will return, again and again.

Hidden gem! My lady and I ordered chicken and G tacos, as well as couple veggie options. All were equally delicious! Service was quick, tacos/salsa were fresh, and we left comfortably full. Shout out to Steve and Rich. Swell dudes!

Definitely one of our favorites. Great for dine in and an absolute wonder for catering. He came to my kitchen and served us tacos all night. Very friendly and the food is ALWAYS delicious. We have never been disappointed. 10/10 recommend for dine in or catering.

Best tacos anywhere! Not just tacos, though. Everything is fantastic. Highly recommend. You'll swear you're in Mexico City.

The food here is deliciously authentic Mexican. Not Tex-Mex by any means. If you are familiar with southwest flavors and marinated meat this is definitely a must try. The atomic salsa...fantastic! A true hidden gem in Sanford.

Absolutely incredible tacos! I never thought I'd find amazing Mexican food out here but this is a serious hidden gem. They are also are awesomely mindful about food allergies.
The "G" taco and fish tacos are out of this world! 10/10 - highly recommended.

A hidden gem of restaurant in Sanford!! The food was amazing and the service was top notch. I definitely will be coming back here the zucchini taco was phenomenal thanks taco universe for a culinary delight! I would give 10 stars if I could it's really rare to find a place like this and never would've expected it in Sanford it was just all around great!!

Hands down the best taco's around! Personally for the quantity of the food I would say its pricey, that said they are well worth the price as they are premium tacos! Staff is always friendly and even with a small mishap the last time we were their the owner was ready to make it right.

This was easily the best taco I’ve ever had in my entire life. I’ve never tasted something so beautiful before. It literally brought me to tears. It was a life changing experience to eat this taco and I wish everyone in the world could have this.

AMAZING! If I could I’d give it 10 stars, I would. My only regret is not getting the pork taco, the owner (who is so friendly, and helpful) had us try a sample of the pork taco, and omg was it good! My husband had the sliced beef tacos ( delicious), and I had the shredded chicken taco (delicious). We moved to the area last October, and I’m so mad that it’s taken us this long to try this place out. After being very disappointed with all the Mexican restaurants in the area, we’ve finally found our favorite spot! Can’t wait to go back.

So first and foremost: the have really good food. Like seriously get some of their tacos, you'll be happier.

All around the table no one had any issue, and in fact we all really enjoyed our meals. Thought the price was more than fair for everything.

That said the execution is rough in some spots. A lot of it felt like the things that a new restaurant irons out with time. The staff was friendly though and walked us through everything. We're planning on going back.

Went here for taco Tuesday last week on my wife's recommendation. OMG.. this place is a gem. Service was a tad slow, but it was well worth the wait. Food was seasoned perfectly, flavors were on point, and the variety is definitely there. Prices are definitely reasonable. my wife is obsessed with the chips and salsa as well. Give it a try!!

Black Creek Kitchen has truly excellent gourmet tacos, the likes of which are hard to get in the Mid Michigan area. The menu and interior is pretty spartan, even for a hole in the wall restaurant, but the flavor is real. We sampled all their meat options and had high praise from the 5 of us present. I'll definitely go back!

Wow what a hidden jem! We got the carnita "G" tacos and I can say they were honestly the best taco I've ever had! Super nice staff, and very helpful making suggestions.

Chips/red and green salsa were very good. Gourmet tacos and flautas were excellent. Rice was also quite tasty. Be aware it is BYOB if you want adult bevs. Some items can be gone already if they have sold out, but still well worth seeking out this hidden gem.

Awesome chips and salsa. I encountered them at the Midland farmers market. My mom liked it so much, she bought three bags of chips back to Texas. I don't think I'll buy store bought tortilla chips again. Planning to go to the restaurant next.

This might be the last place you look for Mexican, but it should be the first. All the dishes we've tried are full of flavor. I do not believe there is a better option for Mexican in mid Michigan. Their pork dishes are some of the best flavors I've ever had period.

It's like a food truck, inside. Hands down, the best taco I've eaten in a restaurant. And Richard is a great and friendly guy. We visited recently, for the first time since before the quarantine, and he absolutely recognized us, and greets us like old friends. Well worth the drive.

Cool little taco place off the beaten path. This establishment might be run by aliens who just want to blend in and experience human life while serving delicious tacos. The signs are there, and the flavors were extra terrestrial. Try the G if you like space pork.
