From the pleasant atmosphere while coming in, to being seated and then waiting to be served the best Indian food in town…hands down worth waiting for and diving into! Mouth watering food that will leave you coming back to this place again and again many times in the future! :) bring your family and friends to try this new experience because you won’t regret it! Worth a Google! :) Do it!

I did not have high expectations going into this place. Thought it would be like 50 other Indian places in NJ. And Boy was I wrong.

Ordered Masala crab, pepper chicken, Chicken Biryani, Ceylon parotta and Malabar parotta.

The Masala Crab, man o man, the yummiest crab curry I have tasted. It comes with a lot of gravy. It's expensive but it's worth every penny. The gravy is so flavorful with a distinct crab kick. The crab meat is well cooked and delicious. I could give 5 stars only for this dish.

The pepper chicken is a cherry to a wonderful sundae on top of a regular sundae called the Masala crab.

Sadly, the Biryani lacks flavour and Malabar parotta lacks the distinct flakiness, Both of them are a let down to an otherwise spotless dinner.

The ambience is traditional South Indian, which is rare and the service is good. Overall, a must visit.

Lunch & Veg review...

Food was just great, lovely taste. Staff was friendly. We ordered Rasam, Malabar Parrotta, Kofta, Idlyappam with Korma & Kuli Paniyaram. Malai Kofta was outstanding.

Restaurant was clean, including restrooms.

There's street parking available.

I rate this place 5 star only for my experience recently. Although I have seen some low ratings but mine ended up well.

Lunch buffet is a better option I feel as you get to taste a large spread. The price for a lunch buffet also makes it a good deal given the distance and the location.

The ambience is very good but I felt there are a little too many tables and can get a bit cramped when full. The food taste offsets the space aspect.

We went to Arusuvai Indian restaurant from Philadelphia to explore their kitchen. The neighborhood was beautiful, people were sitting outside and enjoying their food outdoor. We liked it. Probably due to the pandemic there were fewer number of servers and a birthday party or something was going on. So, the guy on the front desk was doing all the work! He greeted us, helped to get us sitting and took our orders. I would say food was okay and didn’t take long to serve. Biriany and Dosa was great. Chicken noodle was not as good as rest of the dish. However, our overall experience was great 👍.

Great variety of food options spanning across North & South Indian cuisine. Friendly staff along with amazing ambience which is within 15-20 mins driving distance from Basking Ridge NJ. If you are in and around Somerset county do visit this place for a perfect experience that you are looking for which is worth each penny you pay for it!

Arusuvai has the best Indian lunch buffet in NJ. Their spread is elaborate consists of both North Indian and South Indian items. The vegetarian spread is also quite extensive which I really appreciate. If you love Indian food, don't miss out their buffet. Only one suggestion I would give the Management is to change their serving ladles and spoons, they are lined with plastic and placed over hot dishes, some people would be uncomfortable to use them. But nevertheless their food is awesome and they had a special Thanksgiving buffet and I ate Thirunelveli halwa and spicy Vathakolambu after a really long time.

Tasty kottu poratta and biryani. Could have done better with dessert though. But that probably just me being picky dessert eater.

Visited on the Thanksgiving day and they had special buffet with plenty of South Indian food options. The desert table itself was impressive. The blue crab curry was really flavorful. I wish I had a bigger mouth!

Very good samosa! Delicious Paneer Pakora. Known for South Indian flavors. Ask for "no spicy" because "mild" is actually spicy.

Posting my review only because I see them dip below 4 stars. They have been the only restaurant in NJ which reminds me of home. Have ordered and dined in multiple times. Never had a bad dish ever. Best Tamil restaurant in NJ.

Update: Went recently in Aug 2022. Looks like management / chef changed. The old taste was not there.

I went to to this place after 4 years today, they have stopped their daily buffet so we tried different Biryanis like chettinad chicken biryani, Hyderabadi chicken and mutton biryani also veg biryani.
All the Biryanis we're delicious and perfectly cooked. Specially meat was fresh and tender which is rare in restaurants now a days.
Service was good staff was friendly and guided us well.
Will definitely try their other south Indian cuisine in next visit.
Best Biryanis I had in new Jersey till now. Made my day.

The food was good. The place had a nice ambience as well. We ordered aalo kulcha, paneer masala, mushroom pepper fry and kothu parota. The first two items were super fresh and yum. Mushroom pepper fry was good as well. Kothu parota could have been better. We also ordered rose milk and mango lassi. They came in small glasses. (They were only $4) but tasted good. The Staff were friendly and attentive.

Overall, I would recommend the place to any looking for good Tamil/ south india food

Really delicious and authentic Indian food. They have different spice levels for their dishes so you really don't have to worry about getting hotter/milder than you expected. 10/10 chicken tikka masala that I now crave all days of the week.
