King Tut

Absolutely fantastic! Food here is incredible. The chef sat with my spouse and I and explained all their specials and the traditional ways they're prepared. Everything we had was delicious, will definitely be back to try even more of the menu! The staff were all very nice and helpful, the environment was cozy but not too dark.

Highly recommend! This place far exceeded my expectations. From the hummus to the calamari to the shawarma to the scallops... everything we tasted was delicious! The service was excellent and the waiter and chef made us feel like family. You can tell that the staff is deeply invested in what they do and love to provide a great meal with a great experience. I will be going back for sure!

It's my first time actually having Egyptian food but it was very good. I do enjoy experimenting.
The menu is very simple and the service was good.

My date and I both had the koshari because we are plant-eaters. It was the best of its kind I've ever had, and I've had quite a bit. Amazing textures, flavors, presentation, and solid portion size. I asked for it as spicy as possible; it was not spicy enough, but nothing ever is for me. As it was, it had a very nice flavor with a dash of spice. My companion got hers mild and it was just right for her. Super-nice people work here. The owner, Khalid, introduced himself to us. And the Mediterranean coffee (much like Greek or Turkish, but this was Egyptian style, technically), was literally amazing and it was made right in front of us.

We went for a late dinner and wound up closing the place! With 5 of us, one being vegetarian, one vegan, and a couple of picky eaters mixed in, we were immediately put at ease by the owner, Kal, who listed some impressive specials, then listed all the meals he could create for vegans. I should have taken more pictures of the food, but the decor was so charming! We got the sampler platter for appetizers, with hearty portions of hummus, baba ghanoush, falafel, pita, spinach and cauliflower cakes, tahini sauce, and more. We had to stop eating all the deliciousness to save room for the meal. My dad got a seafood/pasta dish that was easily enough for two hungry people. Everything was delicious, but the eggplant special- an eggplant scooped out, diced, sautéed with a variety of seasonal vegetables perfectly seasoned and baked to mouth melting perfection in it's eggplant shell- was a feast of flavor that will live on as the perfect bite in my mind for some time.

What an amazing experience, Friendly service, Food was delicious. had a lot of flavor, specially the grableave as an appetizer. Mixed Grilled and Mix seafood wes cooked to perfection.
Finally the dessert was so delicious and fresh.

Absolutely the best meal we've had this year. Can't wait to go back. Highly recommend this place. The seafood was perfectly cooked and was more than enough for two people. Fig, Strawberry and goat cheese salad was brilliant.

My family and I had an absolutely wonderful dinner here. The atmosphere and service were superb, and Cal, the incredibly friendly and charming chef/owner, created some beautiful, off-menu dishes for us. The fresh juices were also delightful. We will definitely be going back, and bringing friends!

I cannot give enough stars, everything was absolutely delicious!! My husband took me here for my birthday dinner and it was a meal that I will never forget. We practically licked the plates clean.

Make sure to hear about the specials. If they have mushroom soup, do yourself a favor and get it. And then get another portion to go. Everything we got was so fresh.

New favourite place!! The owner is very charismatic and friendly. One of the best service experiences I've ever had.

The food is good. The desserts are even better. Many are homemade by the owner's wife. He's particularly proud of the baklava. I had the King Tut lamb shank and apricot and almond tart.

The environment is quite dark, akin to Cheesecake Factory (when we went at night). The decor is very ancient Egyptian with hieroglyphs across the walls, from portraits of pharaohs to the eye of Horus.

Amazing! Absolutely beautiful dinner place for friends and family. Will definitely be returning. Owner is a gem and very personal. Felt welcomed and a warming atmosphere.

I went to King Tut with my girlfriend and another good friend of mine, completely devoid of expectations, and we were blown away. Everything was delicious. DE-LI-CIOUS. Seriously just wow! The cheesecake was AMAZING. I don't even like cheesecake and I ate most of it.

I tried the Turkish coffee and I will say it wasn't what I expected. To be fair it was definitely authentic but I didn't know what I was getting myself into as Turkish coffee apparently is very grainy. So if you don't like drinking small grains of coffee maybe don't go for that. But everything else was perfect!

I had the mixed grill and the meat pastry (forget the name). And everything was cooked to perfection. The gravy that came with the pastry was excellent as well. I can't say enough good things about this place. I'll definitely be coming back!

Absolutely fantastic! We love this place and the food and service are both top notch. Love the MANY daily special options and the chicken cleopatra- my favorite standby dish from the regular menu. Highly recommend everyone check out this little gem of a place!

Great food and service! Who I'm assuming is the owner was very welcoming and charismatic! Everything was super clean and presented nicely.

One of the best dining experiences I’ve had in a long time. Ambience, food and service were all top notch. The mixed appetizer was a great sampling of baba ganoush, hummus, and grape leaves. Lamb shank and branzino entrees were exquisite and generously portioned. Owner Khalid prepared Turkish coffee while regaling us with accounts of the fine art of coffee ground reading. And the baklava! So delicious! A wonderful dining experience and we cannot wait to visit again!

We went here for dinner with our kids tonight. Knowing that we are vegetarian, the Chef came to our table and with full patience & love suggested a few customised dishes for us on top of the one’s in the Vegetarian menu. And we enjoyed some of the best Mediterranean we ever had. We are definitely going there again!

Excellent service, food as well as great ambiance in the heart of Somerville, NJ. The food was well prepared, tasted great and the customer service was exceptional. The “mix platter” is highly recommended for a nice variety of Middle Eastern meats/tastes. The owner, Khalid, was very friendly, professional, accommodating and courteous.

Food was so delicious which was made so much better by the warm hospitality of the staff.
