A great place to eat! The service was really great and the people were friendly. Lots of choices to pick from on the menu. Some of the menu items are time specific, so for example, some breakfast items are not all day and end at 11:30. A really quaint place to grab a bite to eat if you are in town!

We really enjoyed the food and service at The Kernel. The portions were huge with very reasonable prices. Service was very friendly and fast. We will eat here again soon. The Beef Commercial was fantastic!

Good food at very reasonable prices. Friendly service. Have been traveling to Mankato for the last 3 years, wish we had discovered sooner. Hash browns we're nice and crispy.

Kernel Restaurant has good food, and it's a nice place to meet your friends for dinner. The menu has a good variety, and they will accommodate special dietary needs if possible. Staff is friendly and service prompt. Prices are average for sit-down service.

I really like the breakfast I had at the Kernel. It was so good! We went the day before Mother’s Day and it was so busy! The food was terrific! I had French toast with ham and I was so happy that they had ham! No one has a slice of ham to offer with their breakfast’s and they did and it was excellent!!! My daughter had a cinnamon roll with her breakfast wow, they are huge and really really good! I highly recommend this place for breakfast!!! I only wish I had taken pictures of all the food we ordered that morning!

Is the building dated? Yes but is the food and service great? Yes it is! Many yummy options and the prices are good. The ribs were tender and the flavor was great. So many pie options too. So glad we tried them. We will be back.

I always come through this place while I am in Owatonna. Breakfast is always delicious and the price is extremely reasonable. They probably have the best bacon in town, which is why I come here. Service is always fantastic and I never have any problems.

Smothered hash browns & corned beef hash and eggs. Great food, very affordable, and our server had a great personality. Obviously everyone is here on a Sunday morning

Loved this place. They have their own baker on site! Delicious bakery fare. My friend and I wanted a place to meet and have a good chat. No one hurried us. Plus it's seating capacity helps with that. Our waitress was very nice. Was there when we wanted her...so attentive but not annoying. Good location right off 35W. We will be back. Thank you Kernel's.

New owners with the same great staff. The new owners seem to have done some work to makes the Kernel look a bit better.
I had the rib special. They were wonderful. Not overcooked so they fall off the bone, but not so tough you need to gnaw them off the bone.
Our party ordered pie. The the Raisin Cream was great. The Strawberry Rhubarb was very good as well, but the Carmel Apple was AMAZING.
I'm probably going to dream about that Carmel Apple pie!
The next time I get my oil changed at Owatonna Ford, I think I'll stop in for a piece of pie.

Great breakfast place. I know they have lunch and dinner as well but I haven’t had those yet.

They seem to do a pretty good job with eggs. I have had bad experiences when I ask for over easy and the eggs come back over cooked.

Biscuits and gravy hit the spot and then some. I could even finish the plate. Staff was friendly and prices were right in the ball park.
