Kumo Asian Restaurant

We bumped into this place by accident when we were on a way to sushi palace which we frequently visited. But it was worth exploring!
This sushi buffet is priced right, has plenty of food, polite staff and bring you own bottle option!
It’s not as crowded as sushi palace, so you are more likely to find a bigger table if you bring a large party.

Loved this place! I eat vegan/vegetarian and had no problem here. There was a little food leftover but they weren’t fussy about it. My first time at a mandarin style restaurant.

I went with my cousins and their friends (on Christmas day eek) they said one of the sushi with meat/fish went bad but i wouldnt know.

Our new go-to sushi place in Somerville. Good sushi selection. Much nicer atmosphere than Sushi Palace (the competition around the corner). The restaurant is roomy and there is actually space between the tables so you don't feel like you are sharing a table with your neighbors (eg Sushi Palace). The staff did not pressure us to leave which allowed us to have a relaxing meal.

8/22/18 update - Went to Kumo for lunch. The lunch menu is limited (no sushi or sashimi) but the rolls are still good.

2/16/22 update - Still our go-to sushi place. Good food and service.

I usually come here once a month for dinner, but today decided to come for lunch. Lunch cost 15 dollars, and their menu is quite different from the dinner. I actually like the lunch one more than the dinner. Some options I like that isnt offered I believe on the dinner. My friend and I ordered all these rolls, and finished all. I was quite full, and that was the only meal I ate the entire day because I was stuffed!
Good service, good prices, and the rolls were made pretty good. The only complaint I have is that for the eel rolls, they used tiny pieces of eel and you don't really taste it. :( Other than that, everything else was pretty good!

The food is amazing here for all you can eat, it’s also a BYOB area so i truly enjoy coming here with my friends and the yestercades is right around as well . The area is just so nice, at times they may even have a car show or a band playing on the weekends by the yestercades area. After reading some of the reviews .. The staff are truly really nice and deserve to be treated with more respect. It’s understandable after working long shifts with little to no tip at times how it can take a toll on them .I’ve been here several times during busy and none busy days to observe what’s been going on. Overall great service and great food. Been coming here for over 4 years, best sushi spot so far .

As someone who frequents sushi buffets often, I would say this place is great! Great selection of rolls (both regular and specialty), sashimi, and kitchen items. Their hibachi items which are part of the buffet makes this place unique, as it great food not found anywhere else. Would definitely consider going back here again.

Great place...plenty of space for those who enjoy private, intimate, quiet setting. 4 star for service because unfortunately there's no fountain drinks so no free refills but when asked for another of the same drink...they forgot to give me ice. A drink at room temperature is a no-no but other than that...no real complaints. Just want them to be aware to bring a new glass with ice when a drink is ordered, even if its the same drink.

Their lunch eat-all-you-can is worth every penny. The rolls and sushi were fresh and the combinations are tasty!

Kumo offers a surprisingly good AYCE sushi experience here in Somerville! This place is an excellent date spot if you plan to hit up places like Yestercades (or just walk around the very cute town) as well.

Always great food and service! I recently moved almost two hours away and still make a special trip just for their love rolls!!!!!

I used to go to Sushi Palace which is 3 minutes (walking) away from Kumo because of the reviews. However, I am glad that I give Kumo a try. The place is great. Food quality is comparable to Sushi Palace if not better. The atmosphere is nice because it's never too crowded so you don't feel like you are being rushed. The space is nicely organized and neat. There are actually space between the tables. The only thing is that the service can be a bit slow, but it's not bad. The chef takes his time to make the rolls. I have been here twice now and the food is consistently good. I wait about 10-15 minutes to have the food in front of me. I love tuna and the place has tuna sashimi. The servers are nice and friendly. As a person who eat sushi at least once a week, I believe this place deserve a lot more business.

All you can eat sushi that's fresh and delicious. They get very busy so sometimes what you order can be slightly off but I wouldn't be able to keep track of all the rolls the dozens and dozens of people order. Best thing to do is go in with a game plan before you hand in your order. It's BYOB so pour some wine or crack a beer and figure out what you can eat and want. Great way to try new things with a big group. Get some of the appetizers to start off and then a few rolls for the group and you'll be set!

A Nice Place For Sushi

Stopped in with my wife for an early dinner and everything was just perfect. Nice diverse selection of sushi and Japanese fare to meet a wide range of tastes and likes. With the all you can eat option we did not leave hungry. If you like sushi I would recommend stopping in if you are out and about in Somerville for a sampling, you won't be disappointed.

Excellent food n service for my birthday

This place is super underrated. Used to go back when it was a Chinese buffet. The atmosphere is really pretty. It is strange because my family has gone probably 10 times or so. And 9 out of the 10 times, the place was dead. I never understood it, because it is such a pretty restaurant and the food is great. Only once have we gone and the place has been busy. LOVE this place though. Whenever we can afford it, we go.

Under 15 dollar lunch special ALL YOU CAN EAT SUSHI. plus appetizers. and drinks and dessert. It's Great quality sushi for the price. Usually 8 pieces per roll, and I can barely clear 4. FRESH!

We usually go to Sushi Palace around the corner but we actually found Kumo to be a lot better. It is endless sushi, similar in price (maybe a couple bucks less), and different rolls which was a nice change. It was not as packed so we were able to sit fairly quickly and not right on top of another table. Great place.
