Mr Hines is a great psychologist and one of the best in the city if not in the State. Never had in issue with counseling but great results that still help me still today without seeing him. I would strongly would recommend him to anybody but would advise Be VERY VERY WISE ABOUT READING THE CONTRACT. JOHN WILL FALL BACK ON IT IF HE GETS FRUSTRATED LIKE A GIANT COMPANY OR CORPORATION THAT DEVALUES THE PERSON FOR MONEY.

As a private owned business his contract is not unfair or unlawful. If you miss an appointment such as hospitalization that day or any situation without 48 hours of notice that technically still counts. I have personally experienced this and paid full amount because insurance won't cover it. John was unwilling to waive the part he could and not the John I knew how he responded. I stopped seeing him after that appointment until I believe 2 years later. I personally wouldn't let a small amount of money get in the way of treatment with my patient. Especially under the circumstances provided.

Also as private owner he has the right to waive fees and issues as long as they do not tangle with insurance. As a person in the mental health field, John is fairly competent to see if a billing issue is legit. Knowing my bills were being returned and me having no knowledge of it he still continued to tack on fees each time.

I did however know have a balance but thought if there were any issues John would contact me via phone or email (neither has changed) and knowing if he tried to through mail it would not work. Why John did not use other methods to reach out I'm not sure. When mail gets returned either the current resident sends it back or the address is not valid (usually because a mistake with apartment letters or numbers and I loved in a townhouse complex that had letters). The residents there did not send it back because they are my old roommates and friends who never received any mail for him.

After we talked and we both understood the issue at hand and a pretty clear understanding of what had happened, John gained frustrated and I do understand because of the late hours he was been working due to the times he called me from his office. I asked him to waive the late fees because we both know I did not get those bills. We also talked about me knowing the balance that if there were any issues to contact me. John and I before the previous issue stated above didn't have issues about money because I was always good for my word and as he stated he trusted me. Even If I didn't have the full amount at the time I'd set up a payment plan.

He stated "WELL DID YOU SIGN THE CONTRACT OR NOT?" and I responded with yes I did but you as the owner have the right to waive it. He then continually fell back well you signed it and you have to pay it or it will go to collections. Letting a known infraction in which I had no knowledge of it if he could please waive it/ He refused to wave it knowing as stated above the negligence of this bill. I told him I would pay it either way. John was rude and not himself similar to the hospital incident when it came to money. He then had the audacity to ask if I was drunk.

I hope this not a pattern of John's conduct and I'm the only person that this has had to deal with it. Although we all know the chances of that happening are VERY rare unless its a new business. Its sad to see a good psychologist let money and fees that SHOULDN'T have been there or waived after discovery of the situation interfere with a good mutual relationship at the time. Especially in the mental health field.
