If I could leave more stars I would. This place is awesome! I stayed here a total of 13 nights while working (and playing) in Summit county. I spent nights in both a bunk room and a private room and both were great. If you want privacy, get a private room, but the bunk rooms are all part of the adventure!

First of all, Alma is one of the coolest little towns in CO and really is “Good for the Soul.”

Second, the rooms and bathrooms are very clean and have all the modern amenities you could ask for plus a full kitchen and living room setup on the main floor.

Lastly, but definitely not least, Max (the owner) is a chill dude who cares a lot about everyone who stays with him and is a great bartender at his speakeasy downstairs. Try the marg & the agave mojito!

I stayed here on 3 couple stormy nights and it was warm and cozy. The staff was really nice and hospitable. It has been renovated so feels new and clean. Had a great time here. Thank you.

You can’t beat this place for a lot of reasons. It’s in a great place close to Breck where you can stay for a great rate. The bar is top notch and Max and Belle take care of everyone. It’s also a fun vibe, with a different crowd possible depending on who’s there.

What a bonus to our week long trip! We had a private room and we were fortunate enough to spend time with Max, the owner, and a few locals in town (mayor included)! Max was very hospitable and cares about his business. He also makes a mean marg! (There is a bar in the basement where Max also bartends —he does it all!). From someone who has spent a lot of time in Breck, it was nice to soak up and spend some time on the other side with the locals of Alma. Definitely don’t miss out on a chill (and safe—for those unsure of hostels) place like this! It was perfect for our night/two stay (we also had Mojos in the AM for our coffee/Ottos for our dinner —but ALMART across the road/Treeline makes it easy for you if you want to cook your own meal as Max’s place also has a kitchen). Thanks Max!

Other hostels/bars should take a page out of Max’s playbook. This place is one of a kind. If you don’t have a good time and meet some cool people you’re doing something wrong

My favorite place to play and stay!!! Max is the best! Treeline and the Bar are an absolute must experience if you are in the mountains. Clean safe and hospitable!

We stayed for one night before hiking. Timothy and Ryan are fun and thoughtful in all aspects of the hotel: making sure you have what you need, providing a friendly vibe, and taking care of the property. It is more modern that we expected, clean, functional, and has great perks: games, space to chill out back, and lots of parking. Sleeping rooms are simple, but beds are 5 star comfortable. Having 3 clean and modern bathrooms available for guests sets this hostel apart from others. Great spot, and we'll be back again.

Our stay in the summer was very nice! Met the owner who was very nice and passionate about his business. Stayed at the top with a nice view. Could lay in bed and look out the window directly up at a 14er. Across the street is a grocery store and nice creek. Cute, authentic, not pretentious Colorado Town. Great Basecamp for hiking and skiing without a lot of crowds or breaking the bank.

My friend and I stayed at this hostel for 3 nights for a ski trip to Breckenridge, and we would totally stay again.

The drive to Breckenridge is about 20-30 min. Definitely rent an AWD car; we had a Ram 1500. The road between Alma and Breck is quite step, windy, and can get slippery with the snow, but drive slow and you'll be fine.

The best thing about this place was the host. He was super helpful with all the recommendations on where to park, when to leave, and which runs at Breck to check out. We hung out with him just chatting, and he was super fun!

We stayed in bunk beds, and the host was able to separate out the groups so we had a whole room to ourselves. Beds are what you'd need or expect: good for sleeping in between the skiing. The showers and bathrooms were large, clean, and nice. Kitchen was nicely stocked, although we didn't use anything other than coffee mugs and water glasses; had breakfast, lunch and dinner while in Breck. There's a general store across the street for any snacks or convenience store items.

Would recommend bringing medication for the altitude sickness. We used Nyquil and Ibuprofen to get by, but consider getting legitimate medicine if you know you'll need it. Alma is very high elevation which can make it tough to sleep for some folks.

Stayed here for two nights while hiking the Colorado Trail. For a brief moment I thought I was going to stop hiking and move into the hostel. This is a special place filled with special people. Tim and Ryan are warm and friendly, they really care about their guest and the environment of the hostel.

Conveniently located right outside of Breck! Very clean rooms, friendly atmosphere! I would recommend this place to anyone looking to spend a few nights skiing without breaking the bank! Their private rooms are affordable and clean! The kitchen wasn’t as clean as the room and bathrooms, but the fridge was good to store our takeout food.

Max, Marshall and Ryan were outstanding hosts during my 2 night visit in mid-August. The facility had everything that a hostel needs. The commons area was inviting and comfortable making it a great place to mingle with other guests. The hosts also were very helpful in directing me to places to eat and hike that perfectly met my needs.

AND MOST IMPORTANT, THIS IS THE CLEANEST HOSTEL THAT I HAVE EVER STAYED IN (n~15).
Cheers,

Absolute best hostel !! Max and Tim the best. Super down to earth and friendly. They know the area extremely well and take care of the place meticulously. Beds are comfy, bathrooms are clean and the shared space on the main floor is really nice. Great space to hang out with friends. The back of the hostel has a really awesome hang out area with a propane fire pit and picnic tables. Kitchen and bathrooms were well equipped.
On top of that, it’s in the perfect location.
Short drive to Breckenridge, 14ers right down the road, access to backcountry skiing/boarding, restaurants and groceries literally right next door, a skatepark and a stream to fish right out back. Can’t get much better than that.
Definitely gonna make a point to stay there at least once a year!

Wow! What an incredible stay in Alma. Timothy and Ryan are so great, very generous, accommodating and go out of their way to make sure the guests are satisfied. Ryan was giving massages to guests, Timothy kept asking us if we needed anything (including laundry- what a great perk). One of the cleaner hostels I have stayed in. The bathrooms are updated and nice.

Loved our stay at Treeline! Perfect hostel experience. Rooms, bathrooms and kitchen were all clean. Best part is the atmosphere, it’s a smaller place so it felt very homey. We even had a movie night and Tim, the host, made everyone brownies and popcorn. Definitely recommend!

This has to be one of the best hostels in Colorado. Hosts were super nice and helpful. The bathrooms were the nicest in any hostel I’ve ever stayed at. Alma is further away from the resorts but if you want to enjoy the backcountry and not pay Breckenridge prices, stay here.

Thanks Max - 5 Stars!!!

I hadn't planned on being in Alma, and there was one room left in town. I got Max on the phone and he was very happy to get my call and I reserved the room. I'm not used to Hostels and so I swang by to see it and finish the reservation. Newly renovated with a lot of old world character, the open plan kitchen and lounge was great, sunny and bright and turned out to be the perfect place to enjoy wine that night with Max, a few locals, and some other guests, it was terrific!

The bedroom was tidy and clean and the bed was comfortable, and I actually slept in much later than normal. It was a good night of sleep! The bathrooms are private, very clean and wasn't any issue waiting, even though they are shared.

It was a perfect place and the opportunity to get to know Max and his local friends was so wonderful, with their helpful advice on what to do and where to go, plus hearing about the town and their lives was so interesting. I can't wait to go back.

The food in town, although limited was great. Starting with the fresh produce truck, next to the great food truck, Otto's, then next to Treeline is a new and super fab ice-cream truck and I had a delicious burger and great vegan carrot curry soup at the Salon on the other side. Check them all out, they are great people and great food and fun to chat with.

I'm excited to go back up and hang out with my new friends and get a great night of sleep at Treeline Hostel. Thanks!!!

I had the most perfect stay ever. I had no idea this place had JUST opened. Everything was so homey and squared away. I've never done a hostel before and I was super impressed. It was also very fitting for me just doing a simple little getaway by myself. I probably would have ended up kinda lonely if it weren't for the staff and the other welcoming guests. I plan on making this my main stay anytime I go snowboarding. It was a beautiful 30 minute drive to Breckenridge...perfect. I also appreciated the great communication prior to checking in...really helpful since it was my first time in the area. Definitely a great choice!!

I have been traveling wrong my whole life. This experience changed that. Place has got a great vibe to it. Clean historic building. Rockstar showers compared to what I have seen at hotels twice the money. Exactly the kind of place I needed after a long ride. Highly recommend coming. Inn keepers are fun, place is laid back. Negative reviewers are silly. Many thanks to my friendly Inn keepers!

We loved our stay at Treeline hostel. The bed was super comfy, the shower was powerful, the kitchen was well-equipped, it was clean and Timothy was a great host. We came to snowboard in Breckenridge but also enjoyed what the tiny town of Alma has to offer. We tried to book for a second stay but it was full for the dates we needed. Thanks Timothy :)
