On 8/1/23 I took my sons fly fishing and we had an exceptional guide Eric from Lost River. My sons 14 and 20 had never Gone flyfishing and I had no experience either, but Eric made it a memorable day as he got each of us 5-7 trout and patiently taught us the ins and outs so we could enjoy the experience. I will always remember seeing my boys’ excitement and Eric’s as they hooked yet another fish…you can’t buy those type of memories. -Trevor

Incredibly knowledgeable guide, and just an awesome person. Despite the cold temps we were catching trout all day on the Big Wood. Took a short break to enjoy a much needed homemade warm lunch that really hit the spot.

Everyone at the shop was super helpful, rental gear was great. Highly recommend to anyone looking to catch some fish!!

My girlfriend and I booked a trip with Amy at lost river and it was fantastic! Amy really went out of her way to put us on the fish! She was extremely knowledgeable and excited to show us a great time. Her knowledge was extensive, but beyond that and more importantly she really took the time to work with us and showed extreme patience and was an excellent instructor. I caught lots of fish and Lauren caught her first ever on the fly. 4 species total including a beast 18” wild rainbow trout!

My wife and I ended up spending the weekend in Ketchum for a much needed break from our busy lives. We brought the fly fishing gear thinking we might head out and explore the local rivers, as this was our first trip up this way.

We randomly met a guide from Lost River and thought it could be a good idea to have a local show us around. I’ve done deep see trips, but never a fly fishing guides trip. We called and got set up for a half day trip 2 days later.

Important to note, while we have been fly fishing for a few years, we are far from good at it and we know it. So we got set up with Eric, who took us on the best day on the water I’ve ever had.

The location was amazing, and the fishing was great. It was so nice to have an expert teach us how to be better anglers. Patient and encouraging, we got off the water feeling like we finally had an idea of what we were doing out there. Eric was committed to getting on some fish, and took the time to tell us why we were doing what we were doing, as well as making corrections when we did something wrong. We ended up in some great spots and caught some amazing trout. With Eric’s help, I feel like I worked for those fish, not just getting lucky.

The shop is great too, we ended up buying some gear that the guide was using, as it was a step up from what we had blindly purchased before. I honestly can’t wait to come back and go on another trip, maybe even come back for a bird trip this winter!

Brand new or new to the area, I can’t recommend this team enough. It will be worth your time and you’ll have a great time.

While passing through Ketchum this past Sunday (7-9-2023) I stopped in Lost River Outfitters to see if they sold fishing licenses. Thankfully they did, and their staff was very professional and supportive, especially Logan. Since moving to Idaho, I have found that the people here are genuinely nice, friendly, and courteous. Logan has all of those qualities and more; I plan to visit Lost River Outfitters again in the near future to spend a bit more time (and money) and to gain insight on fishing the waters in and around the area. The store's selection was amazing as was the decor. All in all, it was a good experience. Great service in an age when that seems to have diminished considerably over the past few years.

My wife, two sons in their 20s and I went out with accomplished fishing guides, Brett and Eric, on the Big Wood River and we all had a great time. They were extremely helpful to teach and guide my wife and sons who hadn’t ever fly fished before, and they made the experience terrific!

Scott and the crew at Lost River Outfitters were awesome!!! We were out here for a ski trip and couldn’t pass up the opportunity to fish in one of the most beautiful rivers (the wood). I hope I get back soon to fish when it’s a little warmer but despite the 20 degree temps, Scott took us to some amazing holes where we landed a bunch of rainbows and a brown. My friend hadn’t fly fished before, but Scott did a fantastic job teaching him, and he was catching fish on his first day out. Lunch was provided, smoked duck breast and an elk stew both dispatched and prepared by our guide. If you’re looking for an amazing experience, this is the shop! As someone who has spent countless days and hours walking my home waters to find the best holes and riffles I am grateful for your experience and knowledge. Scott, thank you for sharing you little patch of paradise with us!!

Was in Sun Valley a couple of weeks ago and had the amazing opportunity to be guided by Eric. Not only did we go to an absolutely stunning river, but we caught fish consistently the entire day. Additionally, Eric was kind enough to teach a couple of new techniques, including skating a crane fly for agressive cutthroat and grayling. I've fished with quite a few guides over the years, and Eric is at the top of the list. Would highly recommend!

I had an incredible experience on the river with Eric Campbell. First time fly fishing for me, so I didn’t have high expectations on landing a trout.

Eric was very patient and thorough in teaching me how to cast and handle the fly rod. I believe we had action at every spot that Eric showed me. Once I learned the basics of setting the hook, I started catching rainbow trout. Eric was very encouraging as he explained various techniques.

I would highly recommend Lost River Outfitters and especially Eric as an outstanding guide. I’m coming back and bringing friends next year.

I booked a guide for four days through this shop based on its reputation and the guide fees were slightly below the other alternatives. My son and I were matched up with Eric Campbell. I should say we fly fish quite a bit with guides and I have to say we had one of the best fly fishing experiences anywhere in the world this time around through Lost River.

Eric showed us water without other souls around and put us on fish did he ever. Over the four days we netted and released over 150 fish including nearly all trout species including a bull trout and a 25" rainbow. Sure, catching fish is the spoils of working with a great outfitter/guide, but that is not what makes a great guide. Eric was clearly passionate about his art, studied in his science and focused on his service. He was excellent at gauging expectations and then exceeding them.

The folks back a the shop who assisted in booking and handling were a pleasure to deal with too! Thank you to Lost River and especially Eric Campbell for making this summer fantastic!

Highly recommended the guided fishing trips here even for beginner anglers! 3 out of the 4 people in my group had never gone fly fishing before, and Clayton and Erik made sure we all learned the basics and had such a fun time! Definitely a highlight of my trip to Ketchum!

Absolutely wonderful day spent with Eric on the Big Wood. We had a class and a couple years under our belts but still felt like amateurs, but after our guide trip with LRO we left the river feeling like we gained so much experience in just a few hours. Eric was a phenomenal guide and had a great teaching method that made you feel like you were just fishing with a friend. Super encouraging and fun experience, can’t recommend it enough!

I have been fortunate to fish most of the United States and quite a bit internationally over the past 40 years. On October 7th, I had the pleasure of being guided by Suzanne on the Big Wood River. She was among the best guides I've had anywhere. She was knowledgeable about the water, informative as to where fish held, and helpful with the appropriate tackle. She also told me where to fish on my own later that week; she was correct. Just as important, she was an amiable companion with a wicked sense of humor who told great stories, some of which were likely true! If she's free when you're going to Sun Valley, book her. By the way, the store is well stocked with anything a fly fisherman might need. No need to go elsewhere.

The great fisherman's store. The staff is knowledgeable on fly fishing and spin fishing. They have an awesome men's and women's wear gear. Their guide services amongst the best in the valley.

Stopped in as my wife, daughter and I were in town for the weekend to do some fly fishing and Niko (possibly misspelled sorry!) had exceptionally great customer service and was very knowledgeable about flies this time of year and was even fantastic in interacting with my 5 year old daughter. Overall very welcome environment. Absolutely will be back again, Thank you for the hospitality!!

Wow. What a great day with Guy. He’s been in Ketchum for 30 years and has several techniques to put both experienced and novice fly fishers on the fish, including one productive technique I had never heard of. I’ve been fly fishing all over the country fo 25 years and my trip with Guy has to rank as one of my favorite trips ever. Not only was Guy engaging and pleasant, we caught plenty of trout in some beautiful water. He also pointed me to some water where guided trips are prohibited so that I could fish more on my own as my trip wound down. Great day in a stunningly beautiful place

This is a great store if you are going in for fishing. If you fly fish or know someone who does this store is for you. They carry everything you need for fly tying items to waders, boots, rods, reels, of course smith glasses (headquarters Ketchum Idaho) books, clothes, really everything you need to get back on the river. The staff is really nice and friendly. Stop in and say hi just to talk fishing. If you are looking for overpriced clothes that belong in a mall instead of a river than this is not for you. If you really love fishing than this is your stop in Ketchum. I will definitely be back when I return to Idaho. Thanks guys for the great experience. Tight lines, Andrew
