I highly recommend this store for a personal touch and advice from people who care. The family owners have been doing this for decades and will help you personally and give you advice. Starting out, you don't know what gear to buy, what's essential, what's optional. You don't know where to go or what to do. You need a boost. These people will help!

Don't be fooled by big box stores with a larger footprint. Smaller stores like this don't stock junk. They can't afford to. Avoid decision fatigue and just get the right gear from the right people.

I bought most of my essential gear here when planning a hike on the Appalachian Trail. The owners walked me through the considerations and gave me confidence to try it. I had a blast and started a hiking hobby that I still enjoy.

On a practical note, I value stores like this. They have helped me advance myself, so I want them to stay in business. So here's my practical request. When buying your gear, try to buy a few big ticket items in person. (Eg backpack, shoes, sleeping bag, tent). The price difference is negligible compared to online. (Also, do you really want to save a couple of bucks in the wilderness, when the stakes are higher, doing a hobby that is already cheap?) Then, while you're at the store, chat with the people. Ask for advice and opinions. Life will surprise you if you let people into it.

This store is better than REI. Wow!!! We were looking for new hiking shoes and the store had an excellent selection of different brands and styles. Sheila was very knowledgeable and patient with us to answer all our questions. She explained the pros/cons of each hiking shoe in terms of the fit, comfort, arch support, and whether it was waterproof. We also purchased hiking socks, pants, and other clothing. Environeers will be our main go-to store for hiking shoes and outdoor apparel going forward. Go to Environeers first!

These people are the best. Great knowledge and friendly customer service. Gear, clothing, whatever. If they don’t have it they’ll get it or tell you where to get it. I’m so glad I found them.

This amazing store never appeared on Google search for sporting goods- and it’s been here 30 years with good reviews. I only found it after researching the best water shoes after slipping on wet rocks in BVI, and found because the brand was in stock here. Professional, helpful service, and like a great waiter, anticipating but not too much. Smaller store with harder to find brands for travel and adventure. The best secret find in six years in the area. Google, amp up your search engine!

Wow, such a great experience. First, the store is awesome. Great selection and quality brands. Next, the service was fantastic. Sheila and Alejandro helped me find exactly what I needed. After, they gladly even helped me fix the draw string on my trekking backpack! Working for a company that thrives on excellent service to its customers I can tell you that this is the best you will find. For your adventure travel gear needs in the Sarasota/Tampa area I would only recommend Enviorneers.

We have been visiting this small business for about ten years now. The staff is friendly, helpful, and will help you get what you need. The prices are great and we love supporting local small businesses! The dogs in the shop are sweet and my kids really enjoyed our last visit.

On a recent vacation I stopped in to Environeers. What a place! They made me feel welcome and at home. I did some shopping for a very special friend and they were extremely helpful. They were not pushy but were there to help with any questions I had. Their inventory is top notch. I bought a pair of Destroyer pants and my boyfriend loves them. I have since ordered several items from them since I am 12 hours away and they are just as helpful. I wouldn't consider buying anywhere else. Cant wait to get back down there to visit the kind staff. They are fast becoming friends!

Environeers is the kind of place that makes me miss the mountains and reminds me I need to get outside more.I wanted to try on an Osprey backpack before buying and I'm so glad I didn't order it online! I was welcomed as soon as I walked into the store. The staff were helpful and friendly. They carry a nice selection of quality products. They even offer a military/veteran's discount, which I always appreciate, but it means more and feels more generous when it's offered by a locally-owned company. I'll be back any time I'm planning an outdoor adventure!

AMAZING SERVICE. My father bought me a gift certificate to this store back in Christmas of 2018, and I lost the dang thing. They searched two years of credit card receipts to find it and honor it.

Great place to get all kinds of outdoor gear. They only handle the best products. Helpful employees and a wide range of products for various outdoor activities. They have a great selection of repair items like silicone tape, glue, and waterproofing spray. They also have constant sales running on overstock items. The place you can count on for your quality outdoor needs✌

I'm so glad I was told about this place. So many varieties for campers and for those who love the outdoors. A bit pricey but worth it. Staff need to be more conscious of behavior when people of color enter their store. Very uptight and they were so obvious that they were watching us. My husband was in law enforcement before retirement.

I bought a beautiful pair of waterproof hiking boots. I have a wide foot and am difficult to fit because of a bunion. The staff person I worked with only showed me boots that fit my needs. I was thrilled with the service and selection.

I just made my first purchase from Environeers and it won't be my last. I normally like to shop without the help of a store employee, however I was not sure which product would work best for me. After originally declining help from the very polite staff, I asked for help. I am very glad I did. The very attentive staff member recommended a product/brand that I never would have tried otherwise. I could not believe how much I loved this product. I cannot thank Environeers enough for introducing me to a line of products that I absolutely love. If you have never been to Environeers, I highly recommend that you go. I could not have had a better experience!!!! By the way, in case you were wondering, Kuhl is the name of the brand. You should try it.

This is a fantastic store loaded with quality equipment for outdoor adventures. My son and I found everything we needed here for our backpacking trip along the Appalachian trail. The employees are knowledgeable and very helpful to make sure you have the right gear for your adventure.

A great local store for the hiker, backpacker and outdoor enthusiast. They have what you are looking for and you can actually see and touch gear and clothing before you buy it. Don't chance things buying online at amazon or REI. This store will advise and equip you

Thank the lord for Environeers! What would we hiking/camping/backpacking people do without these folks. There is nothing -- literally, no options -- for buying gear in Sarasota outside of this store. And now that REI has a store in Tampa, I will still go here. Super friendly and always ready to help.

Had to grab a few things before my winter trip to Iceland. The staff was extremely helpful, even pointed me in the direction of a few cheaper items since it would be for a one trip use and there isn’t much of a need for warm clothes here in Florida. Will definitely come back!

I read all the online reviews, and my big takeaway was that people were surprised and frustrated by the return policy. I initially researched and purchase a pair of hiking boots online, and was frustrated that they never broke in property, and I wasted almost $200 on a pair of boots that don't fit. So then
I came to a place where they know what they are doing. Phillip took the time, and helped me into the right hiking boots. I could not be more pleased the the level of service, and products they carry. And by the way, the return policy is very prominently displayed all over the place, so I'm not sure if the signs are new, or people just don't see what's around them. I attached photos.
