Mioko, the new manager for southwood apartments is amazing! We had some issues with the heaters but she really helped us to get the problem solved. We really appreciate having a great manager

Jane McCoy, for the southwood apartments is the Resident Manager and is an amazing manager. She is willing to work with you with your situations. We only had to get in contact with the maintenance crews a couple times and they are quick, professional, and through.
The apartment complex itself is a little old but still well priced for its location, Reason for losing one star: it can be a little cold during the winter and a little too hot during the summer, you just have to get extra stuff for it.Parking can be annoying sometimes, so if stuff like that bothers you, make sure you work something else out.

Wish I could give 0 stars. Do not rent with this company!! A TOTAL joke at best..
will scam and cheat you out of money for damages that were not done by you (and with documented proof it wasn’t you) even after sending in proof damages were there on MOVE IN day Beth is refusing to issue me my security deposit refund. After weeks of trying to contact her and her always having an excuse of why it was so long. Only time she was any help was leaving a message to call back as she had questions, called and emailed for weeks to answer those questions but she had made her decision already. After only speaking with my former property manager and never once speaking to me (other than her excuse of looking into it) NO HELP AT ALL please please find somewhere else!!!

I'm so sad to have lived here and lost so much. I have yet to receive any formal apology from NRE's owners/directors.

I lived in the Southwood Apartments.

Apartment was 90° to 99° in the summer. AC unit is not adequate for that apartment.

I had a horrible pest problem. NRE knew that they had to prevent the pests (long story) but didn't during the preventive time window. NRE refused to help me come up with a solution and refused to help me carry my stuff to the dumpster. I lost weight, sleep, sanity, personal time, and quality of life. NRE has not apologized to me formally or financially.

Utility bills are super high. Think $200+ for electric/gas each month.

Early on in my lease, I had rain damage on the ceiling. NRE's solution was to pull down the ceiling and not repair the ceiling. The hole was still there and falling apart when I moved out.

Overall, I'm so much healthier after leaving. I'm slowly beginning to feel like a human being again. My new landlord is wonderful and doesn't treat me like a cash cow.

After renting at the Oakland location for 2 years, our entire security deposit was withheld and we were charged an additional fee to replace the kitchen floor which they said was "destroyed" despite being in the same condition it was when we moved in. Shortly after we moved out, they replaced the kitchen floors of the other apartments. Seems like they were going to replace our floor anyway, they just wanted to take advantage of us and do it on our dime. Don't rent from these crooks!

This company has bad customer service the focal point is only to make money not to assist tenants with comfortable living.

These people will try to take every last dollar from you. They are highly incompetent and unethical.

This place is a scam!!! Do not believe anything they say!!!
