First appt completed. Felt listened to by Dr Alan. Wanna give shout out to sweet receptionist. She was very kind but I was able to catch her taking care of another patient and she went above and beyond when her driver from local nursing home dropped her off. He had poor attitude and ignored the wheelchair bound lady when she said multiple times she needed to use restroom.

Finding a doctor that listens is important to me, but my next important thing is a office staff that is kind and helpful. I found that here.

He's the best Neuro that I've had since my first one had to retire. He actually sits and talks and explains everything in detail. It's difficult to find any good honest docs these days. Dr. Alam is definitely one of them.

Dr. Alam and his staff are great. I’ve been seeing him since 2015 and he’s one of my favorite doctors. His staff is always quick to respond to the messages I leave and everyone is so friendly. I definitely would recommend him to anyone needing a neurologist.

I read these reviews and was a little nervous about going to the doctors office but it was nothing like everyone saying I’m not sure why they have said this about the doctor or the staff because everyone was super nice to me and acted like they cared about me getting better.

Very time efficient while being thorough, professional, and allowing the patient to address any concerns or questions.

Nice Staff and Dr Alam is nice. Just wish he had more respect for his patient's time. I hope he doesn't have that same respect for their health. Mercy Jefferson definitely needs another Neurologist in this area.

Seen Dr. Alam, for the first time in early March. After having a seizure. Staff is remarkable. Kind, hard working and seem to have genuine, Care and concern about the patient.
Dr. Alam came into the room, walked past me without any kind of introduction. Looked at the computer and said I needed surgery to remove scar tissue.
Then he told me he wanted to schedule a EMU. First. . I asked for a work release until the test and surgery are scheduled. He told he wouldn't do that. Then left the room telling me to wait. Then someone else came in the room said she would get me sched6for them EMU . And that someone would call with that info. It's been a month of me sitting around an waiting. These reviews should be for the staff seems like they are doing all the work

Worst experience with a medical professional ever. He and his staff were not only unprofessional, they were rude and condescending. Putting aside his lack of bedside matter, he and his staff behaved as though they had never dealt with anyone with neurological issues and were uncooperative In assisting me with necessary documents needed for work. The worst of it though was his inability to let me answer questions he had asked. I would begin to respond and he would finish the answer for me. He repeatedly said “you’re better, right” despite my continued assertion that I was not. It felt as though is was in the twilight zone. Had a friend not been with me to witness the “experience” I wouldn’t have believed it happened.

I would not even give Dr. Alam ONE star but I have to in order to post this review. My dad suffered sudden cardiac arrest on October 4th and was rushed to Mercy Jefferson. 3 stents were placed and my dad was put on full life support in the ICU. After the hypothermia treatment was completed and his heart was stable, the biggest concern we had was his neurological state. I was there on Oct. 8th, in the room with my dad when the nurse told Dr. Alam, the one and ONLY attending neurologist on staff at Mercy Jefferson, that I was in the room and wanted to speak with him. After waiting for over a half hour, the nurse came to tell me that he completely skipped over my dad and left the ICU. What responsible physician does that?! That next day on the 9th, I expressed my extreme frustration to the ICU nurses and doctors - we were there for 5 days and we still had not met or even heard from Dr. Alam! Again, his neurological state was the biggest concern. FINALLY on 10th, the 6th day, Dr. Alam came to my dad's room to speak with us. He informed us that he was seeing brain damage on the right side of the brain - my brother and I inquired into this - what are you looking at that is telling you this? We wanted to see what he was seeing. All he told us was that it is a very gray area but that we should pretty much be prepared for the worst - that my dad would most likely be in a vegetative state. Both he and the ICU physician, Dr. Oke, told us that day that within the next 24-48 hours, we needed to decide on whether we wanted our dad to have a tracheotomy and a feeding tube placed and they told us that we would not want to put my dad through that if we were not going to continue care...what?! Then we were told by a nurse that we had 10-14 days before they would have to remove the ventilator and do a tracheotomy. So why would Dr. Alam and Dr. Oke be rushing this and pretty much insinuating that we should give up on our father?! We even had a nurse ask us if we would want to resuscitate him if he would code again - he was not a DNR, so why would she even ask us that? Clearly these doctors were making everyone believe we had no hope. After insisting that we get another opinion from a different neurologist, we were told that we could video in a neurologist - on a video camera. Again, what?! Finally it was determined that my dad needed to be moved to a hospital (and another neurologist) that could handle his neurological needs. Before we left Mercy Jefferson, the palliative physician, Dr. Gaugh, came in to speak with us. She was amazing, by the way. She had asked Dr. Alam and Dr. Oke to come in and meet with us as well so that we could discuss what was going on and all of the possibilities we were facing. During our meeting with Dr. Gaugh, Dr. Alam was in the room next door and purposely never came in to meet with us. Again, what kind of responsible physician avoids family members like that? Dr. Gaugh decided to put in a complaint against Dr. Alam to the hospital administration. In her opinion, he was not practicing safe medicine at that point. We moved to Mercy St. Louis where NOT ONE doctor or nurse made us feel like we had no hope! In the end, we found out that my dad did not have brain damage AT ALL and would be making a FULL RECOVERY! On November 1st, my dad was released from the MoBap acute rehab unit and is now at home, recovering and getting stronger and stronger every day. If you want a family member to live, do not let Dr. Alam near them! If it was up to him, we would have pulled the cord long ago! Instead, my dad is LIVING and will recover fully!

I waited 4 months to have my appointment canceled. The VA gives better health care. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME HERE

He likes to make guesses instead of running tests to determine problems. He also likes to experiment with conditions using pharmaceuticals instead of determining the real cause if the problem.
