Marlena has been a lifesaver with my daughters hair!! She has done an excellent job at getting it healthy and I highly recommend her. Such a sweet and caring lady!

I am new to the area and hadn't had my hair professionally cut in almost three years. After doing extensive research on hair stylists in the area and resigning myself to the fact that I might have to drive to Greensboro, I found Marlena!

Her salon is so stylish, clean, and has plenty of parking. Booking an appointment is easy to do online and there is plenty of communication to know what to expect, including COVID-19 protocols.

Regarding my haircut experience, I was blown away. Marlena is a true artist who has spent many years fine tuning her craft and it definitely shows. She offers free consultations which I also loved because it gave me a chance to discuss my hair's current issues and what I would like it to look like in the future. I returned for my haircut after the consultation and the results were exactly what I wanted, especially after so long without a proper cut. I recently got my second cut from her and went shorter than I have in almost a decade and she knocked that out of the park too.

I can't say enough about how wonderful my experiences have been and I look forward to Marlena cutting my hair moving forward. The quality and efficiency she provides is truly insane, especially when compared to how reasonable her prices are. 10/10 would send my best friend here.

Marlena is an exceptional hairstylist and so is her mother, Flo. Not only do they use top quality hair products, but they also provide a plethora of resources and contact information for anything pertaining to event planning, catering, educational resources, career planning, spiritual counseling and the list goes on and on. Marlena has even encouraged me to try new styles to help me come out of my shell - as I often become complacent in a style and tend to wear it out. Lol. When I leave the salon, I feel not only pampered - but I feel uplifted. Their multifaceted services have been a life line for me as I grieve the passing of my mother. One of my last two-way conversations with my mom was in their salon photo studio so that I could have a private virtual chat with my mom when hospitals were not allowing visitors. I will never forget it. If that’s not going above and beyond, I don’t know what is. Pictured below is my flex-rod style from today. I wanted to cut my hair and after hearing so many good things about Marlena’s work I decided to give Hair Under Construction a go! If I could give my experience ten stars I would!! Everything was phenomenal from the service, the cleanliness of the salon and just the overall experience. I gave Marlena free range to do what she wanted and I Love my new cut!! She made me feel very comfortable and we had great conversation the whole time! I left the salon feeling pampered and like a new woman! She truly is a jewel and her work is amazing. I definitely will be a returning client and I am so excited that I was led to such a talented woman to help me on my healthy hair journey!

Look no further! Exceptional service! This a black owned salon operated by a mother, daughter duo. How cool! They were both super, super nice! Let me start by saying I reached out via phone and needed service the very next day and Marlena was fully booked but managed to squeeze me in.

Everything was handled so professionally from the booking, arrival and departure. I'm super big on ambiance. This place was super cute and clean! Everyone in the salon was very nice, I felt like I was a regular client and had been there before. Marlena was very gentle and patient with my hair texture.

I had a amazing experience! From the time that I walked through the door and even after I left! I just relocated to Reidsville, North Carolina from Connecticut and I thought it was going to be hard to find a hair salon. Through family, Hair Under Construction came highly recommended. The vibe was relaxing, I felt like I was at a spa. The individual attention was great ! Also, I was not over booked and I didn't have to wait hours like previous hair salon's that I have been to. I absolutely love Hair Under Construction! The salon is easy to find, well decorated, clean and has a very peaceful atmosphere. The co-owner/stylist, Marlena, is a gem! She is well worth the 2 1/2 hours (one-way) drive. Along with being able to give you a style that fits you, your own unique style and personality, she is all about healthy hair. Marlena has been doing my hair for a long time now. She is the only person who does my hair and cuts it the way I like it. She is a great stylist and very knowledgeable. She is more than a stylist. She is a friend who cares about her clients.
