Haw River Sp Summit

Awesome camping trip with the school…I’m excited to go again with my younger child in a few years. The guides and activities were fun. The cabins were adequate and comfortable. They hadn’t been cleaned well. We found food wrappers, socks, and other items when we arrived and had to sweep the floor before settling in.

The food was better than I expected, pretty good meals! There is coffee!

The staff is warm and friendly.

The evening/night hikes were so interesting. I do recommend staying overnight. Looking forward to the next time!

My daughter's 5th grade class went of a school field trip here. The kids had a blast. The instructor SHEP was amazing and had such patience with the 10 kids I had in my group. The kids loved the food and I thought it was pretty decent as well. The cabins were clean but it would be nice to offer something to put on the floor so it doesn't get so slippery. But they made a great schedule to keep the kids busy and entertained.

Very nice place and if you set up a session with Ranger Lindsey your child can earn a Jonior Ranger patch!

Such a pretty place to go exploreing/ hiking the trails were easily marked and the parking lot was simple and easy to find. The trails were kept in good shape and the trail markers were easy to spot so you don’t get lost. Overall if your looking for a good place to hike for the whole family then this is the place to go

I visited this park for the first time on New Year's Day as part of North Carolina's first day hike series. It's a lovely area, located at what used to be a church owned conference facility. The lodging facility appears to be quite nice, with a very large commercial kitchen. Unfortunately lodging Ken only be booked by groups of 10 or more at this time. The trails in the park are nicely laid out and marked, the paths are interesting, and there are lots of educational exhibits along the paths. The lake is large and fishing is allowed.

Very nice walk around the pond! Enjoyed the peace and quiet and all the nature. Saw couple massive fish I'm gonna guess were carp. Did come across an adult copperhead close to one of the benches on the west side of the pond near the office.

Short, easy trails make it great for kids. The covered picnic tables near the lake were a perfect, shady spot to eat lunch. Very peaceful spot. Camp was full and everyone seemed to be having a great time. My daughter enjoyed earning a jr.. Ranger badge here.

Nice place to take a walk. Office staffs are very kind and they guided me in a detailed manner. Note that the river is very narrow and shallow as this is the upper region of the Haw river.

Haw River State Park is different from most state parks. This park has a conference center and education center along with motel rooms and cabins that can be reserved for specials events. Overnight events that include rooms and meals from a working cafeteria. See website for details. They also have several hiking trails, disc ⛳, small lake for fishing and canoeing, events for kayaks, canoes on Haw River. They also have picnic areas, a gym, swimming pool. The Haw River Conference Center was a great place to have a retreat! The lodging was comfortable, the food was great, and the staff was very attentive to our needs. A great place to get away!

The park office worker who gave us our state parks stamp was super helpful and nice. The park has space for 180 people to sleep at in their cabins. Great place for family functions or to go for a nice walk around the lake. The park also offers disc golf.

Great hiking trails which are well marked. There a many park benches to sit and enjoy the view of the lake. When the facility is open, it is a great resource to the community. Hopefully they will be allowed to reopen soon.

The trail and office is open on the weekend, just not the conference center. Short trail around the park and when walked in conjunction with the lake trail is right at 2 miles. Nice elevation changes throughout the trail. After seeing the conference center, I want to schedule a meeting there so I can use the great facilities.

LOVED this place! Just went as a chaperone for a 5th grade overnight field trip and it was wonderful! Very organized, great staff, entertaining, learned so much! They are EXTREMELY accommodating regarding food allergies as well!! Highly recommend!!

Beautiful lakeside State Park with easy to moderate trails and water access.

Nice trails, easy hike

The conference center is super convenient and in a beautiful setting. The staff are always cheerful and helpful. Facilities are diverse and accommodate a variety of groups. A gem of a place right outside Greensboro. For anyone who has stayed here before, the rooms got new beds this year, and the lobby got a new look! Check it out.

This a great experience for children. I strongly urge elementary classes to add this venue to their field trip list. My husband and I went with our granddaughter and four 1st grade classes. We were more education once we left. We learned about owls, nature and bugs. The staff was friendly and helpful. They took care of us from the time our buses stopped until we drove down the winding road, as they waved goodbye. I thought it was awesome and the children loved it too.

A great facility with friendly and knowledgeable staff. NC has great state parks
