Eclectic Sun Paddlesports

Eclectic Sun was great to work with. We rented a canoe from them. We had it reserved for a Friday but it was too windy so they notified us the day before and moved our reservation to the day after. The whole process was really easy. We did the waivers online so we just showed up and they put us in the water and gave us a map with simple instructions on what to see. They took care of everything. We would definitely use them again.

Staff was nice and helpful. Prices were reasonable. The process of renting and returning was super easy. I was happy they had waterproof phone bags that came with the rental.

I’d had questions regarding scheduling prior to renting kayaks and they were very helpful over instagram. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable and I loved that they provide a wet dry bag for phones and keys. Equipment was in great shape and we can’t wait to go back!

AMAZING ALL AROUND. Absolute kindest staff members. I forgot a really sentimental shirt in the kayak, expecting it to be gone, but they had it waiting for me the next time I went!! Gorgeous waters, probably the clearest lake I’ve seen in this region. My partner and I had the most wonderful time on the kayak rentals. (These photos are unedited btw)

I love this place! One of the most beautiful lakes around! We rented the sup (stand up paddle board) it was soo much fun there is so much to see on the lake. They will even provide you with a map of the lake and a bunch of waterfall spots along the way or you can rent a pontoon boat or take a guided tour. Would love to go back and camp!

Wow what an experience! That was the most beautiful lake I’ve ever paddle boarded on. The process to reserve a board and getting there into the water was super easy. The young girls at the front desk were super sweet too. My brother and I had the absolute best time out on the water. We discovered little beaches within the lake that had little caves and clear water. Overall, I would go back in a heartbeat.

Easy rental process with online waivers to relieve in person paperwork. The single sit on top (SOT) kayaks can easily hold a medium size cooler on the back and the stretch cords hold it securely. These kayaks are extremely stable on the water. A couple things to note - if you are NOT staying at Devil's Fork Campgrounds, you can only choose an 8 am or 8:30 am start time and you will need to pay the state park entrance fee, adults were $8 each in 2023. The lake is gorgeous with extremely clear water and silver sand and rocks. The lake (reservoir) was extremely full last time we went which meant no dry beaches, everything was underwater. In October there were many, many exposed beaches. So do look up the water level if that is important to you. Have fun!

Best place I have ever rented kayaks from, they are so accommodating to any need you have and so nice! They always make sure you are safe before you even go out on the water. The lake is my favorite one in the area so beautiful and clean! I will be back every year!

We had a great experience booking tandem kayaks at Eclectic Sun! The staff was super friendly and helpful. The place overall is very clean and picturesque. The paddle out to a small waterfall is an easy adventure for small kids and there are opportunities to get out and explore. I highly recommend!

Would highly recommend! Booking a kayak online was easy, and everything went smoothly as I arrived to the lake. Do bear in mind I went on a random September Tuesday, so the lake/park was not busy at all, and also the parking fee was waived. I booked a 4hr paddle, and ended up using most of the time to explore the gorgeous lake! The farthest waterfall was not flowing very heavily this time of year, but still worth a peek. I also stopped at a beachy area with a tiny “Island” to take a swim and just take in the views. Had a fantastic day on the water!

Great Place to rent water toys when you're camping at Devils Fork state park or if you're just here for a day to Play in the water at the state parks swimming area. It's only a few miles down the road from me so just do day visits but glad it's here. About the only thing to do....

Super awesome experience! I rented a tandem sit-on-top kayak for 4 hours and it was well worth my $50. The crew goes above and beyond explaining the map of the lake and provided me with dry boxes and bags for smartphones, keys, etc. They were very kind and welcoming and willing to answer questions, and the gear rented was in great condition and well kept. I would definitely recommend them and would rent from them again.

The experience renting a kayak through eclectic was ridiculously easy and I was very happy with the employees when I was there to actually kayak. I do wish there was a 6 hour rental option instead of the options going from 4 hours to multiple days. Overall, I am still happy!

Edit: Have rented from here a few more times and they continue to be an excellent choice!

Rented a two person kayak for the morning. Made an online reservation the day before. Check in was easy, they helped put the boat in the water for us (great since it was just my 9 year old and me). Provided life vests and maps to use, as well as dry boxes if needed. Lake Jocassee was beautiful, and we had a great time. They didn't mark off on their board that we had returned and even called to check on us to make sure we were okay. We were already home, but it was nice to know that they would do that if you didn't show back up. Snacks we're totally reasonably priced (better than some gas stations) too, which is not that common at state parks and such.

The lake and surrounding undeveloped, natural panorama are beautiful from every viewpoint. Staff were great for input/takeput; clean bathrooms; and good coffee + chairs/patio space to enjoy it after the paddle.

Positive experience, it was easy to rent a kayk, we got clear instructions where is the best way to go, equipment is in a good condition, very friendly staff. We had great time exploring lake Jocassee.

Highly recommend this place. I brought my SUP but had hurt my lower back so I rented a single person sit on top kayak. They were very helpful. I’ll definitely rent from them again!

I came to Lake Jocassee for its clear water and found Eclectic Sun, which offers a great selection of water activity rentals. I rented a sit-on kayak, and this was my first time kayaking. Throughout the rental process, they were informative and explained the rules while in the water, and showed me on the map the places to see, such as the small island and the waterfalls. My first time, I selected the 2 hr rental and loved it!

I came back here another time, but I spent a few days at the Devil’s Fort Campground for a couple of nights. Although I showed up an hour before they closed, the staff remembered me and were kind enough to let me rent a kayak since I had been renting it for a few days. I enjoyed my time at the lake and I would highly recommend Eclectic Sun!

I went in October and it was chilly! Rented a kayak. The water was so clean & clear! Very smooth & hardly anyone there! Eclectic made it is to get in & out of the kayak. They had everything I needed. I am looking forward to returning.
