Jocassee Outdoor Center

Friendly staff and to kayak for a total of 4 hours roundtrip is about $40 something dollars ... but I enjoyed it....

We rented a pontoon boat on Labor Day weekend. It was out first time renting a pontoon boat and things went well. The boat itself was in excellent condition - clean, worked well, easy to use. I have some boating experience, but not a ton. The staff gave us a great overview of how to safely use the boat and answered all our questions (we had a lot). They were very safety oriented and patient.

The logistics of the actual rental did require some attentiveness on our part. For instance, every person who was going to be on the boat had to sign a paper waiver. For the 10 person boat we were going to take up to 25 people (adults and kids) in shifts. At first the staff wanted each person to come in person to sign. We convinced them we could follow directions well and get everyone to properly sign the waivers. We did, but I saw first hand how easy it is for people to not sign a waiver properly! Some people we had to take the waiver back a second time. If I were to recommend one change it would be to set up the option for electronic waivers so we could take care of it in advance of the vacation.

In looking at the other reviews, if you are going to rent from here (or anywhere) just be ready to follow their directions. We were happy to and had a blast!

Kelly was delightful. The pontoon she provided for my family was absolutely perfect. Having owned many vessels of all sizes, including a half dozen (or so) pontoons, this boat was impeccable.

The crew delivered the boat to my dock (for a reasonable fee), provided a thorough overview of proper operation with equipment checks. They gave me great advice on where to go and, importantly, what to look-out for around the waterfalls we were visiting. Their information was spot-on and very helpful.

I've spent my entire life on lakes (LOVE THEM) and Jocassee was the gem I'd always seemed to miss. I've heard about it all my life by never seemed to work it out. What a beautiful place! I strongly recommend it for anyone who loves unspoiled nature and unparalleled scenery.

Jocassee Outdoor Center gets my top rating because they know what they are doing. If you're a novice, be sure to listen to what they say and you'll be just fine. If you're an old-hand at boating, be sure to listen to what they say and you'll be just fine.

Just wanted to say that this is a beautiful place. And the people who work here are very nice. The other day, I witnessed a woman being very rude to the shuttle driver, who asked her to move out of the no parking zone which is for her loading and unloading. This woman has now left a nasty review. She believes she has the right to park wherever she wants and when asked to move was nasty to the shuttle driver who was perfectly pleasant until this woman got rude.Too many people these days believe they have the right to be nasty to whoever they want and do whatever they want.

Jocassee outdoor center makes it so easy, we don’t need to bring our family boat to Jocassee. Clean boat, very comfortable, in and out quickly, very kind staff. Highly recommend if you need a fun boating day on Jocassee.

Professional, courteous, staff with nice boats. They were a little late getting our boat in the water due to parties in front of us but told us to keep the boat an extra half hour to make up for it.

The most beautiful clear water lake I have ever seen.. Big rock u can jump off of when the water is up.. Nice sandy beaches and lots of fun things to do.. Perfect place to scuba dive..

I ran into a problem with my family on the 4th of July & wasn't able to make it to rent a pontoon from Jocasee Outdoor Center. Kelly was more than understanding & helped in every way possible. This was our 2nd time renting a pontoon from this location & I can't say it couldve went any smoother. They had everything waiting on us when we arrived. I will forever be a customer at JOC!

Rented Maxxum in late June. Last minute rental and still everything went smooth and perfect. The boat was great, the stuff was nice, made a real memorable experience. We will repeat in Aug when we will be back in SC.

Highly recommend JOC if you want to see everything Lake Jocassee has to offer . From pontoon boats to ski boats and kayaks , they offer a variety of packages . Friendly service from the store to the dock . The store has all your last minute camping and fishing needs plus some treats !

The staff was really nice. Pontoons were well taken care of. Lots of stuff in the store to buy. The lake was amazing. I will definitely use them more in the future.

Loved this boat rental on Lake Jocassee! Could not have been easier. We were worried about having so much stuff and being shuttled to the boat site, but it was not a problem at all, easier than if we had tried to park somewhere in the park. The staff were so friendly and helpful. Loved our day at the lake.

So let me tell you how amazing some folks are!! My boat trailer blew a bearing...Before I found The Jocassee Outdoor Center. I had multiple people stop to help us... My friends and family were 3hrs from home..we barely made it to the boat ramps. Once I found out from the Devil’s Fork Staff that The Outdoor Center could help I called Sunday and spoke to Kelly who took my info and told me she was pretty sure they could do the repairs. Monday morning I reached back. Charles (I think was the owner) met me at the boat ramp with one of his co workers. They were able to get my trailer towed and repaired in about 4 hours so we could get the boat back home. Truly some of the nicest people I’ve met. Thank you Kelly, Charles and the repair tech for making it happen!! Your customer service and hospitality was truly the best!! Hope to see you next time we visit!!

We had an absolutely wonderful time renting a ski boat. We took my son out skiing for the very first time and he’s almost 19 years old. The lake was absolutely perfect and the best part was dealing with Kylie who was an amazing, super customer service oriented and just a pleasure to work with young lady. We had the whole lake almost to ourselves. The mountains and the water were breathtaking. We will be back from Florida again. Thank you so much.

My family and I always rent from Jocassee Outdoor Center. They are incredibly professional and friendly. We recently had an issue arise out on the water, and between Kelly being so sweet to my son and Hunter helping my family load our vehicle, I was impressed. I recommend the Outdoor Center just for the way they treat you as a customer. I appreciate when a business truly values its customers in a time of need.

Rented a boat July 7th of Fourth of July week. With less than 24 hour notice, they were able to make it happen. Great staff that wants their customers to be happy with their rental experience. Beautiful lake, with amazingly clear water.

Today, we as a family...all rented and enjoyed a pontoon boat out on Lake Jocassee... We all signed the necessary paperwork, this was a little excessive but necessary I guess. Very nice outdoor center with very nice sandwich shop and gift store also. Very good instructions. You do also have to drive past the address on maps just keep going and you will see the outdoor center maybe a mile further on the right as well past the address on maps. Very good instructions on that as well. Then after paperwork is complete you proceed again further on the same road and arrive at the park and you also have to purchase for each adult and child entry into the park as well as parking. But excellent day and left the pontoon after we called them about 15 minutes before our time was up as we were arriving like they asked. We had a great time and everything went very well :-) ✔😎👌👍

We rented a tritoon last weekend. Great experience. We were a big family (8 adults and 4 small kids) and brought our own ski boat as well and they worked with us and helped us get to and from the lake with our big crew. It was great to have a boat for the rest of us while all the guys boarded. Also big enough kids could take naps. Thanks alot!
