My husband and I and out 4 kids stayed in one of the cabins. The cabins have a back room with 2 sets of bunk beds (sleeps 4) and the front room has a queen size bed. They have electricity and space to put your stuff and food inside. The bathhouse is right across the street from the cabins and is super super nice! Probably the best I have ever seen! There was firewood available at the campground for $8 a bundle and you can pay via PayPal which was nice. We hiked rainbow falls with our kids (ages 8,6,4, 2.5) and it was totally worth it, roaring waterfall. We are in decent shape so the hike was not what I would consider strenuous but it is more uphill coming back. The nature center is super nice with a great view, there isn't a kid playground but the roads in the campground were all well paved so the kids could ride and scooter around those, we will be back!

There's a reason why this hike consistently gets rated as one of the best in NC--with three waterfalls to checkout on this moderate out and back hike, it is a popular destination for families and hikers with pets.

There is ample parking, clean restrooms, and plenty of nice picnic areas.

We went again the other day and walked the easy trail below the park museum and info center. It has viewing platforms that I didn't know were there before. And in the fall just wow they are stunning. This is perfect trail for toddlers, littles learning to walk, strollers, etc. It's a pretty decent trail. My son was adequately worn out after and had fun exploring and reading the signs along the way. Very informative infographics too

The most perfect park to stay at. Pads are cemented with water, sewage and electricity. Off to the side is a gravel area with fire pit and picnic table. Restrooms have the most amazing showers. There are cabins for rent and an area for tents. Area is so clean and trash is picked up day a couple of times.

Beautiful area.. make sure to get a map at the visitors center.. it's nice that they mark out the trails with detail about how difficult or easy they are . Also elevation change

We briefly camped here in one of the tent camping spots. The site was large, clean, and had plenty of space from the other sites. The family bathroom was heated, clean, and looked so new! We camped here for travel, but we can’t wait to come back for a more leisurely visit.

We went on the trail to see rainbow falls. It was a very beautiful trail. There are some difficult spots towards the end that I could see an older person struggling with but overall a wonderful hike. The waterfalls were also beautiful.

We did the hike to Rainbow Falls. It was a strenous 3 mile round trip hike. But it is gorgeous. Good visitor center with excellent help planning your visit.

This place is awesome. We hiked the trail to Rainbow falls and Turtleback falls, then we hiked down to Bearwallow falls. This is probably an easy to moderate trail. Breathtaking view of the waterfalls.

Nicely maintained campground with gravel and concrete pads for tents and RVs. Cabins also available. Hiked the Rainbow Falls trail; a bit strenuous for little kids, but the waterfall was amazing!

The brand new RV campsite is as phenomenal as the park. Very easy access and luxuriously big RV sites with concrete pad, rock area with fire pit and picnic table. The bathrooms are shockingly nice, when you walk in it feels like you’re walking into a hotel bathroom, so well done. They can’t post is very friendly and there’s even firewood you can buy on site which is a lifesaver if you have kids and they start asking for a fire and you don’t have any firewood! From the RV site rainbow falls is but a short walk. I highly recommend this park and definitely this campground.

Gorges State Park is a family friendly Park with extremely clean restrooms, picnic areas, short hikes, or even long moderate challenging hikes. Beautiful waterfalls and scenery everywhere. I will be back for a longer hike.

This state park is worth a visit. No entrance fee. Solid visitor center. Great trails!

We did the hike to Rainbow Falls. The water was gushing. Trail not too muddy other than the area directly in front of the falls.

Fairly accessible trail that’s partly gravel for much of the way. You will have to climb about 800 ft in elevation to get back to your car.

This place is spectacular. So many little falls to see including Rainbow Falls and Turtleback Falls. Lots of hiking trails. If you stop by take the Rainbow Falls trail head which is a 4 mile round trip to see both Rainbow and Turtleback Falls. Plan to spend the day here with so many stunning views and breath taking moments.

What a beautiful, beautiful park! We visited to make the hike to Rainbow Falls on a gorgeous autumn day. It was a tough, 4 mile hike for this 70 year old but we made it! The falls are beautiful and well worth the effort. The park has other falls, picnic areas, camping and a beautiful visitor's center. Make the trip!

Who wouldn’t give this wild wonder a 5-star review? Majestic forest and waterway views gave me the wow-factor I was looking to inspire from our group of (5) forty-year old women looking to get away and be wow’d by the outdoors and a physical challenge.

We did this hike on a time-schedule which I totally do not recommend. We had bookings in Asheville at 1:30, but we couldn’t get to the city until 2 pm. We traveled here from our Airbnb town of Hot Springs, NC and got there by 10:30 a.m. after a sit-down breakfast and stop for ice and essentials - which was a major time push, making this hike much more strenuous for us. Be ready to sweat. Be prepared with a mini first aid kit for possible blisters. Wear good shoes. I wore a new pair of Keens hiking sandals. Wear a hydration pack and make sure you have water. This hike could be dangerous for pets and elderly or out of shape, so plan accordingly. Give yourselves plenty of time and take it slow so you have time to pace yourselves and play. Don’t book any other activities until 2 or 3 p.m. if you’ll be going to the city after like we did. In hindsight, if I’d gotten breakfast for our group on-the-go instead of sit-down breakfast, we would have been in much better shape. There are lots of hills. A walking stick or hiking stick is incredibly useful for balance and stability on the trails as there are lots of steps and uphill climbs.

I’m not going to lie, the trail was physically challenging. At the pace we had to go it was difficult to meet our time schedule, it was a definite push.

I wouldn’t change a thing because it was exactly what we were looking for with a huge reward at the end- those beautiful rainbow falls. Absolutely spectacular!
