Omg if you are a history buff AND a train lover this is the place for you. So many fun facts and not only engines and rail cars to tour but the actual round house from the late 1800s. It is hauntingly beautiful m, a little window through time

Authentic collection of train cars in various stages of restoration. The facility is a 19th century train depot where trains were maintained. It is really cool.
The conductor, Eric, is super knowledgeable and great with all groups of enthusiasts.
I totally recommend this historic museum!

I had a phenomenal first visit to the museum today while on a short visit to the city. The site is an incredible piece of history and it’s story is well worth knowing. The trains alone brought a wide smile to my face but the personal touch, knowledge and approachability of the staff will have me stopping by to support them every time I return to Savannah!

An amazing place of learning and history nestled in downtown Savannah. If your kids love trains they won’t be disappointed. The place was clean and the staff were very friendly. Worth every penny getting to travel back in time.

It's a beautiful historic place! We liked it so much! It's absolutely dog friendly, and it's five Stars from our family. The whole of our family enjoyed this place!!!

A warm welcome from the moment you walk in through the door. The museum is small in size but not in history. The times for each guided tour are displayed at the entrance. We did not take a guided tour, but it was offered. We enjoyed reading the signs for each train on exhibit, and the kids loved being able to walk around the trains, and some had platforms where they could take pictures. Overall, it was a pleasant experience for the entire family.

Beyond amazing. This museum is a wonderful piece of history! Highly recommend taking the guided tour, Jan’s tour is very informative. I’m not a guided tour person myself but this one was well worth it.
This place is loaded with history and it is so fascinating to be there, it’s like standing in a frozen piece of history.

I will definitely be back with friends, I hope to visit again when they have the trains running!

What an amazing place! So many trains! My son yelled that it looked just like Thomas. They had a turntable like the one in Thomas the Train engine. You can go on the empty trains if you take the tour. But it is nice to just walk around too.

This museum is included in the Coastal Heritage Museum package, where you get three adult tickets for applicable museums for a discounted price. It’s a small museum that has a train you can ride on, which goes to areas you probably can’t access without the ride. There are also train cars you can walk into and explore, but some of them are closed off and are only available during tours. Fun for kids! A nice walk if you don’t have kids. Everything is outside, so if it’s cold and windy on the day you go, definitely bundle up…

I'm a member of the California State Railroad Museum, visiting Savannah I looked forward to seeing Georgia's Railroad Museum, the docent lead tour was informative, moved at a good pace, answered all questions. Not as large as California's but still worth a visit, next door to Savannh's historic district, easy access 😀

Love the museum. Trains were great. The best part was the gift shop. Mason was an absolute charm! He helped my kids with the play sets and recommended and encouraged the trains that they wanted for a souvenir. Mason was professional and I’m glad he was there!

We visited the museum today and it was a fun experience. Don't miss the train ride that starts every hour. The guide and staff were so kind. They waited for us for an extra minute since we arrived late. The railway cars tell different stories and take you back in time. Don't want to give you any spoilers, but if you like to spend some me time in quiet place, you should definitely consider going there. Train ride comes with a small surprise.

A Great piece of History!! We visited the Georgia State Railroad museum in with high hopes of seeing some real history and boy we were not disappointed! If you are in Savannah, GA you really need to stop and visit here. They are continuously making improvements to open up more of the complex.

A definite must-see if you are in Savannah. As soom as you enter there is friendly staff. We enjoyed the train ride, the fuid was funny. We also enjoued walking into the old train cars, seeing the antique furniture, and the hand pumped railroad cart was loads of fun to ride on! 😀 Lots of history, so I loved it!! <3 ❤ Fun for the entire family. OH, lots of movies have been filmed on site, too. Really cool place.

I have children ranging in different ages and they had something for all of them. There is a play room but I did hear they were planning on removing it which is kind of a bummer since it's a neat place for the kids.

My oldest daughter loves the history of the place, my middle loves all the different sites, and my youngest of course loves the trains.

We came on the day that they had a train ride. It was short and we mostly just sat in 2 spots for a period of time BUT for young children I'd say it's a good ride to go on. As well as for anyone who loves to learn about history.

This is definitely a clean and family friendly place to visit and I recommend it to anyone who wants something to do with their family.

Got to ride in a train, unfortunately bad weather cut the ride short. Thank you for keeping us safe!

I grew up building model railroads and could safely be called a rail geek. I've been to a few rail museums and this was one of the best. Incredible to not only see such a variety of restored cars and equipment but to also see so much of the infrastructure. A great place to visit for kids and adults.
