Green chili pork stew is the Thursday special it's fantastic! Served with cornbread which to my taste is the perfect compliment. Spicy enough to get your attention but not so hot you regret the meal. The folks at Sweetwater are fun from the Owner that always seems to be chatting with a regular, to Farrah the nicest bartender in Denton and the Chef who always makes me laugh.

Shrimp sandwich perfection, Monday's prime rib sandwich and the fork tender chicken fried steak with jalapeno gravy every meal has been outstanding my normal desire to just repeat the same thing has been flummoxed by Farrah's recommendations about this thing I just have to try. She is always right. Love this place and can't wait to check out the live jazz.

Several visits since the grand reopening have all been fantastic. Looking forward to many more.

4/13/19 update the bar has added self serve oysters on the half shell for 75 cents each. The oysters were fantastic, fresh with just a briny hint of the sea. While my friends explored the menu finding the fried bologna sandwich and cheese burger superb. I stuck with the chicken fried steak which as usual was perfect. Another great time in a great place!

The manager James is amazing! He needs a raise and no, he didn’t pay me to say that! He’s a really good guy that really makes sure clients are happy and safe!

The food is amazing! I’ve eaten here a half dozen times and just finally did a review!

They have a large group room in the back that you can reserve for meetings or large families that has its own entrance and very private!

The staff only wants to see you smiling and full! Please go visit them and have so good food and enjoy the music!

Live music will return once covid is over! I can’t wait!

Awesome food recommended by the server. BBQ chicken with smashed potatoes was amazing. Great atmosphere and a lively feel. Would highly recommend a visit when stopping in the square. Can be a bit busy at times so probably should plan accordingly. Overall a great place. Don't miss out on an opportunity to try something different!

Went to the Grand reopening, it was fantastic, everyone was friendly and helpful. Farrah, my bartender especially stood out, very knowledgeable about the menu and the best things to try. She suggested the fried pickles as an appetizer and they were incredible. Perfectly battered and fried with a wonderful just spicy enough jalapeno dip. Going to try the ceviche the next time I come in. Watching it served nearby piqued my interest. Dinner was chicken fried steak, fork tender from locally sourced beef. Exceptional scratch gravy with a hint of jalapeno. Also got a chance to see the prime rib being served and that's going to be my choice the next time in for an entree.

Great time with the folks at the bar made me feel like a regular on my first visit. Even the bathroom was amusing with a pregnancy alcohol advisory over the urinal. I'm not sure how many pregnant women pee standing up in the men's restroom but if they do, all the information they need is right in front of them.

Edit 12/18/2018 - Some folks were concerned about prices and our friends at Sweetwater have been listening. New lunch specials and lower prices. Farrah behind the bar again made today's visit delightful. Chicken Fried Steak was comfort food perfection. Queso was as good as it gets, desire to explore the menu is being put on pause for maybe the best chicken fried steak I've had in years the jalapeno gravy is so damn good, I'm seriously considering it as a beverage.

Another visit mid January for a shrimp and bacon sandwich and it was sublime. This is the best restaurant I've been to in Denton. Great service again from Farrah and the Chef came out for a chat too. Shrimp are easy to cook right and even easier to cook wrong. These were huge perfect and exceptionally seasoned. Sweetwater has become a weekly ritual, it's a local treasure.

Great food and very friendly staff. New name Aqua Dulce. Yuca nachos are very awesome.

I had an event there a couple of days ago for my work and the staff was just outstanding! The patio space worked perfectly and the two waitresses that we had were SO helpful- even helping set up and take down the decorations. Eric the manager was just great! Also, the food was a big hit. We had the chicken and squash enchiladas, I highly recommend them.

The burgers are a masterpiece! The beef is locally sourced grass-fed from a ranch off the Red River, and cooked to perfection. The fries are seasoned in a way that tastes unlike anything else I've ever tried. The staff is super friendly and professional, the atmosphere is low-key and relaxed, but it's still swank enough that I wouldn't call this fast food by any stretch. This is fine dining at a reasonable price in a cozy little one-of-a-kind place in downtown Denton with a very authentic feel that is true to the town setting in which it's located. Came in for lunch on a weekday, found free, close parking, and plenty of seats to choose from. Great atmosphere. The bathroom was clean and wonderfully decorated.
Delicious iced tea, the onion rings were perfect. I didn't ask, but guessing the ketchup(?) was house made. My burger was cooked properly and nice and juicy. Toasted bun! My husband's salad looked good, was made with mixed greens, but I didn't see any "weeds." Definitely coming back!! (With my phone next time to take pics.)

Used to come here a lot with my family while I was growing up. I remember they changed the menu and it wasn’t the same. Soon after that they closed down. Now they are back and we ate there for the first time since they reopened. Well we were all very happy with the service and the food. They brought back the old menu and everything tasted great. It’s a great place to go eat. There are several options on the menu and the atmosphere is awesome. If you have never been to this place I highly recommend it.

We can’t thank James and the team at Sweetwater enough for hosting our rehearsal dinner. Accommodating is an understatement, the food was amazing and the staff was so friendly. Everyone from out of town loved the location and seeing the beautiful downtown Denton square as well. Great place to host an event!

Really cool old (new) bar and grill. Stopped by after a day walking around downtown Denton for a late lunch. It was too warm still to sit on the patio, but it looks like it would be great later in the evening when the temperatures cool. The food was good and reasonably priced. The service was on spot. I'll have to go back when there's a band playing on the stage outside.

Had the burger and as a burger lover it didn't disappoint. The others I was with had a beyond meat burger, veggie enchiladas, a Ruben, tortilla soup, and a chicken fried steak and everyone said the food was very good. This is a regular spot for my daughter and it's a Denton staple.

This is one of my favorite spots in Denton. Really, it's one of those places that makes Denton what it is. The food is good and the service is super friendly, but it's really the atmosphere that makes it an incomparable place. I've seen more amazing music on this patio than I've seen in concert halls. It's unpretentious and locally owned.

Love this place. Back to the former owner/chef and the food is great! My friends and I love to sit in open air seating and have a few drinks. Only wish they would have a classic rock cover band occasionally

Great margaritas, awesome patio setup, and some of the best food in town! It is usually a full house but the wait staff is very fast and efficient. The chef is always cooking up something different for the special and he never does a bad job. This place is a must visit if you are in denton

I haven't been here before, so I thought I'd stop by. I had the Enchilada Plate today for lunch. It came with rice, enchiladas, and black beans. That was the best Enchilada Plate I've had in a very long time. The tea was awesome too.

Place was empty abt 5:30 pm on Monday. Had a very nice waitress. Had grilled salmon with steak butter, cheese and squash enchallads, and a burger. Raves all around table for food. Two guys had oak barrel aged Manhattan cocktails...they were incredible. The authentic Italian cherries were special. Now want to go back for drink, food, and MUSIC !

The food is delicious and the employees are super friendly. Happy hour everyday from 4-7 and some days they have live music. Good place to watch a game too.

Nice place good food and atmosphere. Wouldn't recommend it if you're in a hurry it's a place to chill and eat. Happy customers all around as well.
