Rockford Corner Bar

Fantastic spot and the history is fun as well! We had the cauliflower bites and pretzel bites for appetizers. Then the Mahi Mahi tacos, Michigan Craft Burger and the famous chili dogs with fries. We enjoyed all we had and will be back the next time we visit from Montana!

Came in yesterday with my sister and her wife for a late lunch and we had such great service! We were at a booth with Keith and HE WAS A KING!!!!!! I GM a restaurant, so I just really really appreciated how communicative and attentive he was. and he made us laugh!!! We will totally be back to request him, give him the good shifts

We have been here numerous times and have yet to have a bad experience. We have gone with both friends and family. The place has a nice family atmosphere and has seating available for larger crowds. They even have a bar inside if you prefer to belly up and enjoy some beverages. The assortment of hot dogs are plentiful and you will not be disappointed with any of them. We do prefer the Chicago dog and burrito dog. The Chicago dog comes with some great toppings to include tomato, peppers, relish, and others toppings. The burrito dog comes with a hot sauce packet and tastes just like a burrito with a hot dog twist. So good! I have included dogs from several different stops. They also have an assortment of other foods there such as the Reuben sandwich, which is really good as well.

If you can eat a dozen of their dogs, you can be immortalized on their wall. There are names of people from all over the globe. We took a pic and I have posted them on this review. If you can zoom in, you will see the various places represented.

The service has always been friendly and professional. The waitress made a mistake on our recent order in our favor and thus we got two dogs on the house. Service can make or break a place and they have great service. Definitely worth a stop if you are anywhere near and are hungry for some great hot dogs.

We worked with John to have a gathering after my dad's funeral right before New Years in the upstairs gathering room. What a great guy! He helped with everything! Accommodated food allergy needs as well as special food for the younger great grandchildren that would be there. What a busy time of year for him, and he never made us feel like we were a bother or he didn't have all the time we needed with him. I HIGHLY recommend the Corner Bar for a night out, a family dinner, or better yet, rent out the upstairs room and have a wonderful time. The chefs, servers, and John are by far the finest around!

I hosted a surprise party this weekend in the upstairs portion of the restaurant. The space was beautiful and the staff did a great job. There are “extra” parts of the space that make it more fun such as a microphone, darts, ms Pac-Man, and more. I want to give a HUGE thank you to John who helped me plan the event and was SO helpful and understanding through all the changes in numbers of people. I know they could have made more money on another event I’m sure, but I’m so grateful they let me hold mine here. I would recommend for anyone to use the event space at corner bar. Thanks to you all!

Excellent food, just really really good. We were a table of nine and everybody cleaned their plate, everybody raved about the food and we had a variety of dishes ordered. So props to the cooks props to the kitchen.

Service wasn't terrible but just okay, some items were forgot and and we were slow to get some refills. I only knocked one star off because it's always a busy place and we were a large party. But our waitress in particular was just a little extra absent-minded.

Overall though a great meal, with great atmosphere, and at a great location.

Pricing is as expected, this is not a place to get a super cheap meal necessarily, but it's not outrageous. Chili dogs were, as reported, 👌

It’s not very often that I crave hot dogs, but when I do, The Corner Bar hits the nail on the head! I ordered chili cheese dogs in a basket with a tequila sunrise, and it was delicious from start to finish. The dogs had a perfect balance, not messy either, and fries were amazing!

This is my favorite spot to dine downtown Rockford. The menu has something for everyone, they have a full bar and the service is always great. We love the burgers and sandwiches. The pretzel bites were very good. The wall is covered with plaques from the famous hotdog challenge. Our server told us the record was 55 hotdogs in four hours! Would be really entertaining to watch someone try to complete the challenge. I also felt that the prices were very reasonable especially for downtown Rockford. Other restaurants down the street do not compare in terms of quality of food.

I rate this place five stars for tradition and atmosphere. I remember going to the takeout window with my dad at the Corner for dogs back in the early 1980’s and now I take my son to the Corner for the same dogs....in a few years, my boy will take his kids to the Corner for a dog :) Beautiful downtown Rockford wouldn't be the same without the Corner Bar.

I went to the Corner Bar with a buddy of mine for lunch. The waitress was friendly and the place looks really nice after the fire a few years back. I got the regular chili dog meal (plus one extra), one draught beer, and a shared order of the fried pickles. The food was all excellent, and they had a good selection of drinks on tap. The fried pickles were an especially good example of that appetizer, and the chili dogs were very easy to down. I don’t think I could do the challenge and eat 12, but they were delicious.

Finally found the Best burrito! The sauce is absolutely delicious. Nice size, well worth the price. Very nice inside, including another dining area upstairs. Also, Hot Dog Wall of Fame for those who can down 12 or more hot dogs! Service was wonderful, fast and polite. Definitely recommend everyone to come try the great tasting food and take the hot dog challenge to get your name on the Wall of Fame.

When your in Rockford you have to visit the Rockford Corner Bar. They have salads and burgers, but you really want the hot dogs! They even have Vegetarian hot dogs. I've had the Polish Basket, the Kraut Basket and the Chili Cheese Basket. All are insanely good. Well worth straying from a sensible diet. The Crispy Cauliflower is a good starting point.

Went for the October meeting of the Old Speckled Hen MG Car Club. It was my first visit. Had a great time, good food and a nice cocktail. Will be back.

The Corner Bar has been completely renovated since it was on fire a few years ago and especially ever since I've been there as a kid. The restaurant is modern inspired, has a nice new elevator, and a very open space upstairs with gorgeous views over Rockford. The food is good and fairly priced. There's also a lovely large beer menu from local draft breweries which is awesome. The staff was friendly and I was proud to have a family reunion there because we haven't been there in years.

Great place to stop in for a hotdog and a drink. Parking is easy and free. Plenty of beers on tap. The staff is super friendly. Definitely worth a trip to try the hotdog eat challenge.

Amazing restaurant with a great atmosphere and friendly staff. I really enjoyed the garlic cheese curds, onion rings, and chili dogs. As someone who has moved south from Michigan, this was just the taste of home I needed.

Fabulous service. They were busy and short staffed. We had the bartender as our waitress. She was on top of her game.
The food was excellent as always.

Had a large group and they were very accommodating. Food was good as usual. Service was wonderful, especially given how busy our server was.
