We found ourselves at Alamode after leaving Bob Evans due to too long of a wait. When we pulled up we were slightly discouraged to see a packed parking lot but as soon as we caught whiff of the incredible smells coming from the restaurant we all decided this might just be worth the wait. I cannot emphasize enough how incredible this place is. Well worth the crazy long wait on a Sunday afternoon.

This is by far the best food in Big Rapids and the surrounding areas. We ordered the red, white, and blue waffles, the beef pasty, the house omelette, corned beef hash, and veggie quiche. I will review each of those below in addition to the pictures attached.

I love the eclectic choice of the decor and the wait staff was incredibly friendly and efficient despite being absolutely packed to capacity from open to close.

My first impression when they brought out the food was how beautiful the dishes looked. The food looked fresh and everything was hot and smelled delicious.

The red, white and blue waffles are two homemade waffles with strawberries, blueberries, and cream. They were served with a copious amount of bacon, and two eggs served to preference (my daughter chose egg whites). My daughter ate nearly the entire plate and she is one of my pickiest eaters. She stated over and over how delicious everything was. I snuck a bite of her waffle (for the review, obviously) and it was perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The strawberries were sweet and delicious.

My mom ordered the beef pasty which was filled with veggies, beef, and came with a hamburger gravy. This was huge and she couldn't finish it but was very happy with the flavor, the crust on the pasty, and the gravy. The crust was very flakey and cooked to a proper crisp, the insides were perfectly soft and well-seasoned. This was simply an all around great choice. If you've never had a pasty before, this is a great place to try something new.

My son ordered the house omelette and I'm glad I was able to grab a picture beforehand because he scarfed down the entire plate before I had a chance to ask him how it was. This came with an omelette, diced potatoes, and toast with fresh raspberry jam. The eggs were cooked perfectly and added to a generous portioned omelette filled with meat and veggies. He wanted a hot sauce to go with it and they provided him with Tabasco so if you're looking for some salsa with heat you may want to just sneak some in to add yourself.

My two youngest shared a corned beef hash plate which were paired with white toast, raspberry jam, and two fried egg whites. They also devoured their entire plates and my younger son even scoured the table for anyone's leftovers. The corned beef was fabulous, fresh corned beef and potatoes- you just can't beat it.

I ordered the veggie quiche which had deliciously cooked portobello mushrooms, fresh slices of tomatoes, and veggies covering the slice of quiche. The sides were sliced (or diced) potatoes with grilled onions, and a biscuit and gravy (in lieu of toast). The quiche was perfect, I was so happy with the amount of veggies that were served and I had to take a to-go box from the amount of food.

I have to note how impressed I was with how well equipped the restaurant was to cater to families. There were available high chairs and boosters, as well as a box of fidget toys, books, and coloring crayons. This is such a lifesaver for those who don't want to pack in entertainment for the kids or shove their faces into electronics during the wait. Despite how ravenous my little hellions were they were so excited by the atmosphere that they were distractible and patient. This alone deserves a five star rating from those of us with children.

We were left feeling satiated and satisfied. We will definitely be coming back here again and telling all of our friends about this place.

Absolutely phenomenal job Alamode, I hope to see you remain in business for many many years to come!

We were visiting from out of town and found this place, it was pretty busy on a Sunday morning so we had a short wait. The waitresses were all running crazy but service was still very timely despite our waitress seeming a little frazzled. The menu had several items that you don't find on every other breakfast menu which was nice. I tried the Hollandaise French Toast, something I'd never even heard of. Highly recommend!

I was in the area visiting family from California and wanted to find a local spot for breakfast and I found it!The service was awesome and food was amazing! Angie is an excellent waitress and made great suggestions and knew the menu very well. I wish I would have found this place earlier in my trip but I will make sure to make this a regular breakfast and lunch spot when I come back. If you're a foodie like myself and love breakfast you NEED to make your way down. You won't regret it.

Great little place to eat. Dont blink you may miss it. Best breakfast I've had in a minute.
Not your average restaurants as it's inside a house, put your name on a piece of paper, and they'll call ya when they're ready. Quaint and Cozy with a great atmosphere.

As soon as I saw the Benedict French toast I knew I had to try it and wow was it good! I thought I couldn’t finish it all but it was a perfect portion size and so delicious. I highly recommend!!

When we came in my kids and I got a very warm welcome and were seated immediately with no wait and got our order taken. It only took them about 5 minutes to get our food. The food was EXCELLENT, the homemade jam and the toast and just everything that we ordered was perfect. Everything was very clean and the temperature was not too cold but not too hot.

The structure of this restaurant is made in a old house.Nice artwork on the inside of the restaurant. I like the way they have the structure of the building laid out. Very friendly staff. The food is great. Our plates came full. Great tasting coffee. Not syrupy tasting like most restaurants. The only disadvantage I think is the parking lot is small. They also charge a convenience fee ( 2.75% ) if you use a card.

This is one of the best restaurants I have ever been to. You feel like you are dining at a friend's house. Maybe that is because the restaurant used to be a house many years ago. The building has a rich history as it has been many things over the years. The staff are super friendly and the food is wonderful.

This place was packed! We waited for an hour to get in because we had a group of 6. The hostess and wait staff were friendly and kept us updated on when our table would be ready. I do wish there was more seating in the waiting area, though. The waitress who helped us was great, super friendly, helpful and patient, since we had 3 small children and a teenager with us. I got the pasties and it was worth the wait! My grandkids, who can be picky, ate just about everything on their plate! The portions were also very generous. I will honestly be visiting again when I am back in the area! Thank you for the great food and service!

Very cozy, friendly atmosphere.
I was pleasantly surprised by how well the sausage gravy and gravy for the fried steak tasted.
Thank you for a great breakfast and service.

The food is great, your average breakfast food with a bit more intention and care for the plate! I loved it, happy to have made our breakfast stop here. Destiny, our server, was super kind and helpful!

Greta homey breakfast joint, will be back if I end up in Big Rapids again!

Oh and the coffee, simple but perfect

I used to visit Alamode Café in their old location. The food and service were always very good, the seating was a bit cramped.

When they moved to their new location on State St it wasn't as convenient for me so I had not been there yet. Yesterday, I was on that side of town and stopped in for breakfast.

The exterior and interior are colorful, fun and nicely done. There is much more seating and it's much easier to get around.

The servers were very attentive and made sure I had plenty of coffee. My meal showed up as ordered. I had the breakfast special and everything was delicious. A small cup of the homemade jam was included and was also very good. My only small error was mistaking the homemade jam for some sort of artisanal ketchup and putting it on my potatoes. It wasn't bad but it was much better on toast.

I did take some pictures but most of them were of poor quality. I'll take some more next I visit as I will certainly be back.

The first time I came to alamode I was amazed by how adorable they had set up the building with decorations. It was very clean and inviting. My waitress was a nice young lady that was very helpful. I had ordered the quiche and to my surprise it came out very quickly. Seemed to be like around a 5 minute wait. The coffee was the best served coffee I've ever tasted. I will definitely be coming back.

The food was really good. The service was great. The prices were reasonable too! $9.99 on special for the quiche meal pictured! A beautiful old house was tastefully converted into a unique restaurant! We will be going back!

I have been here twice now. Both times were awesome for breakfast.
Large portions appropriately priced. I get pasties to go(frozen). They are super. AND! Rather than hip hop or some annoying music, they actually played Johnny Mathis and anumber of soothing breakfast worthy music. Like I was at home with a great meal. Oh yeah, the homemade raspberry jam is super good.

This is a quaint little place that is definitely bigger on the inside than it appears. The food is out of this world and the service is just as good. If you’re looking for a place that is not the same ole “chain restaurant” food but is instead, quality home cooked style food, this is the place for you. You will NOT regret it.

Outstanding Sunday morning breakfast. All around very good. The stand out was the snow shoe waffles. There were sugar crystals in them and were surprisingly stellar!

If I could eat here daily for breakfast I most definitely would! The service was great and the food was delicious!! I ordered the breakfast special which included 2 eggs, sausage patty, potatoes, toast, homemade raspberry jam and your drink for $8.99. I was there even during their Sunday morning busy time and still received great service. I noticed several items on the menu that I want to go back to try. 🙂

Food and service was great! So many great options for breakfast. Only bad thing is to decide what deliciousness to order. 😋
