It’s uncommon these days to get a good value for your money, but A Taste Of Island Spice does just that! The food is flavorful, the portions are great, and the price is affordable. The seafood is made to order, so you’re guaranteed to get a fresh meal. I had the catfish dinner and it was delicious! My sister had the stew chicken which she said was very good. Highly recommend.

Island Spice place wins the race. Not many good places to eat in this area. Island Spice is on point. Great portion sizes and the jerk is done on a grill. Authentic jerk. Any other way is blasphemous. The chicken soup is delicious too. I will definitely be back again, again and again. Thank you for doing it RIGHT Island Spice.💖💖💖💖💖

Excellent Jerk Chicken as always. Portion size is good. Although there is complaint about customer service. I don’t come to restaurants like this for customer service. I come, pay, get my food and leave. The business model is not complicated. If you want customer service go somewhere else. I come for authentic Jamaican food. At least as close to it as possible.

As the proud owner of El Rio Nilo Restaurant in Hackensack, an establishment showcasing the richness of Dominican (Afro~ Latin Cuisine), I’ve found myself magnetically drawn to ‘A Taste of Island Spice.’ This Jamaican haven for exceptional flavors has left an indelible mark on my culinary journey.

The veggie patties, a delightful symphony of flavors and textures, are an absolute delight—one bite, and you’re transported to a realm of ecstasy. And let’s talk about their crowning glory: the jerk chicken. It’s not just good; it’s extraordinary and inspiring, earning its place as the unrivaled champion of New Jersey. #WordUp!

‘A Taste of Island Spice’ isn’t just a hidden gem; it’s an ode to the vibrant and soulful Jamaican food. Each dish is a testament to the culinary expertise and dedication of the team, showcasing a harmonious blend of spices and flavors that evoke the essence of the island.

Stepping into this culinary haven feels like a celebration—a celebration of the rich heritage and bold flavors that define Jamaican gastronomy. For anyone seeking an unparalleled experience that elevates Jamaican cuisine to an art form, ‘A Taste of Island Spice’ is an absolute must.

The food here is great! We originally were going somewhere else which was closed and remembered driving past this spot so we headed back. No regrets! Recommend using the lot next to the shop or staying in the road with hazards, we thought there was a lot behind up the drive but it was probably employee parking with only two tight spots.

The jerk chicken and oxtail were fantastic, along with the supplemental rice and beans/gravy. Great portion sizes for the price! No issues with service, woman at the counter was polite.

I also enjoyed the sweet hot sauce provided, it has a pleasant mild kick.

The food is outstanding. As good as Scotchies. Jerk chicken, perfectly seasoned and moist. The goat, tender and flavorful. Rice, nice and spicey. All dishes are great. The only dish I have never ordered is the tilapia. I very much appreciate the relaxed atmosphere without all those annoying pleasantries. There is a sense of family at this restaurant and I never feel out of place even though my skin is designed to a absorb more vitamin d in a cold environment. The food will warm your spirit.

Never disappointed! When i am tired of cooking and i need a taste of great flavorful food from the Caribbean- this is the place to go! My kids and husband love their food (especially the jerk pork). They tend to get packed on Saturday nights but i can see why. Hopefully business is so good for them that they can expand and get a larger place in the neighborhood. Oh, the homemade icecream is pretty good too.

Low key, but very accommodating. When card didn't go through, the lady (who sees me weekly) was kind to let me pay at a later time. Food very good. Stew peas and jerk chicken are best in town! Oh, and their soups are great, especially the goat head soup.

Hands down top 3 Jamaican restaurant in all of NJ. Amazing menu choices, specials change daily and breakfast is one of my favorite meals to have here. Definitely try the Jerk Chicken, Fried Chicken, Curry Goat, or any Fish Dish. Their rice and peas is superb! Flavorful choices topped off with service with a smile. Stereotypically we all know Jamaican restaurants aren't known for quality customer service, Island Spice isn't one of these places. The servers are always helpful and smiling. God Bless the entire staff, they are fantastic!

The parking for this restaurant is a bit complicated but the food is so good I've never once given up on finding a spot. Heck I've even come here on Mondays (when they are closed) cause I like it so much. The ladies who work the front counter are always smiling and sweet and the whole atmosphere of the place is great. The food is off the hook, I've tried quite a bit of the menu and haven't been disappointed yet.

P.S. The lunch specials are super good.

The best Jamican food in Jersey and I eat everywhere. Thw oxtails is great, jerk Chicken have you licking your fingers. I personally eat 2 lbs of Jerk Chicken from here by my self, they are that good. The curry goat is also one of my favorites n they do it right here. Owned by a real Jamican family, and cooked by real Jamicans. The oxtail prices are crazy but if u can, u must because thats the lobster of red meat. 😋😋😋 menu is very diverse have even offering like bbq ribs, home made fried chicken, mac n cheese. Definitely stop here for Jamican take out.

I am always traveling for my job, so I stop in to different towns to try their highest reviewed restaurants. Well, I stopped by Island Spice today and I was pleasantly surprise on how good their food was. They didnt know that this critic was on the job. Thus, they definitely get 5 stars from me. Keep up the good work!

The food is great balance between healthy and maintaining that authentic flavor. I usually don’t like everyone’s jerk chicken, but I took a chance and tried it here. It was delicious!
