High Peaks Cyclery Mountain Adventures

While in Lake Placid to do some hiking and get engaged, my girl and I decided to take advantage of the location and buy new skis. We are currently based in Florida and there is a lack of ski shops that sell/set up equipment. After asking around town for a place that could provide a touring set up, another ski shop recommended we go to High Peaks Cyclery. The experience was excellent. Derek helped us find what we were looking for, explained about the brands they had on offer, and got us fitted properly. He also helped us out with our being far from home situation. We were assured that they would be able to ship the skis to us in Florida, as we had not planned ahead and brought our ski bag. The skis arrived in perfect condition soon after we got back. Lake Placid is our favorite place to visit, and we now have a new favorite ski shop!

Great staff! I stopped in during the eclipse weekend and snagged a couple deals. While I was checking out I was chatting about trail conditions and did not notice that the discount was not applied to my purchase. I called the store a few days later and they saw the mistake and fixed it over the phone. I enjoy talking with all the staff and customers. Great place!

This is the place, to find some adventure! Originally we were searching 4 bikes to rent, and we wanted two bikes for kids (small frame size). Not many options in Lake Placid, but if you need smaller bike for 10-11y old, this is the place to get one. Also we met true adventure soul Brian (common friends, world is so small). Despite fact that local trails were closed, we found some good ones around Saranac Lake, and at the end of the day we had BIG smile on our faces :)

They have helped me out multiple times through buying and renting at the store itself and at Scott's Cobble, the best cross country skiing you haven't heard about. Even when I have forgotten gear, they have been helpful in renting it at no charge. This is and will continue to be my primary store in NY for anything ski related

I came in to rent a pair of skis for ski touring. The staff asked me some great questions so they could set me up for my needs.

I will be coming back to use them for a guided tour/ lesson in Backcountry skiing.

The next day I bought a pair of touring skis that will also be good for the resort. I was able to use my rental towards the price of a new set.

We had a very memorable experience this weekend thanks to Brian and everyone at the shop. If you’re looking for a fun adventure, Brian recommended the perfect spot to canoe and camp out in Lake Placid. We rented a canoe for the full day and they went above and beyond giving us everything we needed for the trip.

The techs mounted touring bindings on two pairs of skis using Quiver Killers, something that's fairly hard to find a shop for, compared to regular AT binding mounts. They worked with me to get it done while I was in the area for a ski trip, in between time on the mountain.

This place was reccommended by another bike shop (Syrcuse Bike), Derek, and all the staff were especially engaging and very knowledgeable. Many choices, lots of gear, worked on my FTB without appointment (gratitude). Very knowledgeable about all local sports and locations. Lots of good energy here.

Our group stayed in one of the guest rooms for 4 nights. Accommodations are excellent. Clean comfortable. Well furnished kitchen and clothes washer and dryer. Nice deck with gas grill

We rented e-bikes by the day. High quality well maintained bikes. Staff took their time to explain operation and ensure fit

This is by far the best ski and snow sports store that you will ever drop into. Super knowledge and friendly staff make this place exceptional. I was having some trouble with my backcountry ski setup, and Derrek took the time to talk with me, listen to what kind of skier I was and what I was looking for in a new ski, and helped me find something that I would be happy in.

I took my new skis out that same day and they were EXACTLY what I was looking for. I won't buy skis from anywhere else ever again! Thank you!!

I went to High Peaks Cyclery Mountain Adventures during a bike trip of several days. I had problems with a tire and a brake disk that needed some adjustments. Everyone there was very helpful. They worked very fast and solved my problem. They literally went the extra mile to help me when I called them a bit later. I strongly recommend them and thank them again for their precious help.

Super Friendly and Helpful Staff! They took the time to ensure the mountain bikes we rented fit well and were in good working order.

We were given directions on where to head to enjoy some local trails which were a short ride away and we had a blast. Great spot to go for beginners as well as intermediate and advanced riders.

I was a brand new cyclist. I called ahead of time and spoke with Derrek. I told him I was interested in getting into bikepacking. After a series of questions and narrowing down our options, I settled on a sick custom Salsa Cutthroat Apex 1. We set up an appointment & the rest is history.
From the front desk, to the bike shop in the back, and the side connected backpacking shop, High Peaks Cyclery hooked it up. Such awesome people in every department. From the ground up they put together this custom Salsa Cutthroat together specific to my hight, weight, and reach. Souped up with a bike computer, 250 lumen tail light, taped orange drop handlebars, and packs to go along with.
I’m ready!

My weekend was saved!! During a weekend getaway over Mother’s Day, I brought in my new Trek Supercaliber that had some shifting issues completely unannounced. Matt in service was quick to diagnose the problem, fix it in less than 30 minutes and provide some education on how I can solve it myself moving forward. Now I’m back up and running to enjoy the rest of my time here! Thank you Matt! HPC is a wonderful store that provides a great experience

I needed a dropper post installed on my new Giant Stance 29 and the team at High Peaks did a fantastic job! I called and spoke with Gray first thing in the morning, and not only did he have the part but he was able to quickly install it for me that day. Great experience and top quality service. I would not bring my bikes anywhere else.
