Lots of cool artifacts from the 1932 and 1980 Olympics. We especially enjoyed the immersive experiences in the museum, and watching skaters and hockey players on the Olympic rinks!

This was a very cool place to spend time learning about the Olympic experiences from Lake Placid. Do not miss the short film about the men's hockey team beating the Soviets. Pretty incredible that such a compact area could pull off the Games, twice! Loved it. Nice gift shop, too

My grandson got to play in a youth ice hockey jamboree on the 1932 ice rink in the Olympic Arena and we also got to see the famous 1980 rink where the Miracle ON Ice occurred with the American Olympic Ice Hockey team defeating the Russians! This entire facility is amazing!

Such a great museum!!! So detailed but not so much information that you felt overwhelmed or bogged down. Everything written was interesting and attention grabbing. Lots of great facts about the athletes and Lake Placid itself! There are some kid friendly items (virtual bobsled, virtual ski jump, speed skating test, hockey video) but I wouldn’t quantify it as an overall kid entertaining venue. I would recommend it for kids 10 years old and up. We also loved going to the Herb Brooks arena and watching the Can/Am hockey practice going on. Would absolutely come back again!

Well worth the visit. Much to see in the museum not only about the Olympics but also local ties and history as well as design progress on graphics. Great display on pins and don't miss the Miracle on Ice video presentation. We were there the day after the 40th anniversary of that game.

As a family we really enjoyed this museum. My kids 14, 10 were not too familiar with what took place and the significance of 1980 Lake Placid. After visiting the museum though it sparked an interest and they both were eager to learn about it. We also enjoyed all the torches, medals, and Olympic garments. Overall we enjoyed our experience and if you are interested in sports or American history this a nice little place to visit.

In 1981, the New York State Legislature created the NYS Olympic Regional Development Authority (ORDA) to manage the 1980 Olympic venues and to ensure their use by the public for sporting, recreational, and educational purposes.

Enjoyed visiting this Olympic museum. It’s also a great opportunity to see the stadium’s that were part of US Olympic history.
Totally worth it. Recommend it to anyone visiting Lake Placid.

The rinks were so nice, and I think they had the 1932 and 1980 Olympics here. One of my favorite parts there is when you enter and you could see the scoreboard from the game in 1980 where Soviet Union lost to the US with about 5 second left, and the score was 4-3, which was also really cool to see. We played games in the USA rink, the 1932 rink, and my favorite the 1980 rink. It was also really crowded there during hockey tournaments which is cool to see because you just like the whole entire town just full of hockey players. Overall, great experience and had a lot of fun playing some games there. It felt magical stepping on the 1980 rink just knowing that you’re stepping on the ice of one of the greatest hockey comebacks in history. Also how ironic of my team to score with like 5 secs left to win 3-2!! It was great and we made it to the championship but it our championship was for 3rd or 4th place, but we still one third because we lost 2 games before that, but thats still fine, i’m still really happy we won third, I would’ve never expected us to ever even make it on the podium there. I would love to go there again and play and visit the rink again!!

"Do you believe in Miracles? YES!" Fun place to relive the miracle on ice. Fun museum with some simple interactive exhibits. Skating oval adds to the town's charm. Nice break from the shopping on Main St. When we were there the Can-Am hockey tourney was going on and created a good buzz of activity.

Do you believe in miracles? Do you love ice hockey? The Olympics? Winter Olympics? Love the USA? Then the Olympic Museum is a must visit!!! It will take under 2 hours to fully enjoy the museum. It begins with the story of the 1932 Olympics and continues through the 1980 Olympics. Lots of historical information. There's a great gift shop too.

Not a national historic landmark but worth visiting to see where the American hockey team defeated the Soviet team. Circa 1980.

Amazing historic place, you can learn so much and it's fun too. Take a few more minutes and go see the 1932 and 1980 skating arena.

More of an anticipatory 5-star rating than a current 5-star. I imagine that this museum will be something else when they finish, and I look forward to coming back. In the meantime, you can still see some pretty cool artifacts in the free exhibit they have open until construction is finished later this year.

A real close look at the miracle on ice. Historic sports equipment. The ability to see various arenas. Lots to see.
There is an excellent cafeteria that is reasonably priced.

This museum was awesome! It had tons of cool pictures and items. They had the goalie gear from the Olympics. Also, you are able to hold the Olympic torch from the 1980 Olympics. I would recomend.

We visited Lake Saranac for a hockey tournament. We went to the museum with most of the team and my sons absolutely loved it. Personally I loved seeing all the medals on display.

Great place to visit on a raining day. We came to here while whiteface is closed due to the bad weather, very nice little local museum with history of Winter Olympics hosted twice here, 1932 and 1980. Highly recommended if you have couple hours stay on Main Street area.
