Excellent collection of Remington's work.

The volunteer staff are extremely professional and knowledgeable about Remington and are excited to share their knowledge. As a bonus they are super nice too

The museum 's architecture and fine wood craftsmanship is stunning.

Plan on spending a few hours exploring the displays, sculptures and drawings.

Definitely well worth the trip to Ogdensburg to go see it.

Wonderfully kept museum. Elevator is installed or you can climb the beautiful grand staircase. I highly recommend checking it out on your next visit to town.

Beautiful house with a stunning collection of original paintings, sketches, sculptures, and artifacts & stories from the artist! Staff are knowledgeable and friendly. Gift shop has many prints (paper or canvas) and other art available. I was able to purchase a copy of one of only 3 images in existence of an Indigenous relative.

#Frédéric Remington Art Museum#Must visit. Amazing Art ❤🎨

The Frederic Remington Art Museum, located at 303 Washington Street in Ogdensburg, New York, houses a comprehensive collection of original Remington paintings, sketches and sculptures, as well as a broad array of personal effects and correspondence that serve to bring the artist and his vision to life.

Many of Remington's best-known sculptures and oil paintings can be found in the Albert Priest Newell Gallery. Changing exhibits of his North Country and Canadian watercolors, sketches, and illustrations hang in the Addie Priest Newell Gallery. Personal possessions, studio equipment, and memorabilia are displayed throughout the museum.

Worth the long drive to get here. The finest collection of Remington sculpture in the world along with a significant holding of his paintings mixed in with paintings by other artists donated by the widow's estate. Museum employees were friendly and helpful, which makes tired travelers feel right at home.

We had a guided visit to the main gallery of Remington's work. The room had been closed during a local garden club show, but the docent got the key and showed us in. She knew a lot of background information about the artist and his work.
There was also a resident artist with work on display in the separate space. The large portraits were very colorful and full of life, and the artist was happy to talk about the works. This artist was also preparing an exhibit using sketches that Remington made. That will be interesting.
We have free entrance with a Reciprocal membership, and the gallery gave us tickets to get into the antique boat museum at Clayton too.

A true treasure, well worth the visit.  The Frederic Remington Museum is rather small, but, unlike many museums, contains many original paintings and sculptures by Remington.  I like Western Art, and have visited a few of the museums dedicated to Charlie Russell, but none has as complete and comprehensive collection as does the Frederic Remington Museum.

I would particularly like to acknowledge the depth of knowledge and enthusiasm for the lady who took our admission and gave us an overview of the museum. I learned a lot, and certainly more than I expected given that I have admired Remington for some time.  It was particularly gratifying that our guide imparted the enthusiasm for Remington's work, and, more importantly, pointed out Remington's unique contributions to Western Art to my wife.

Take the time to visit the Frederic Remington Museum.  It is well worth the time, and the staff will insure a memorable visit.

This is a very interesting, specialized museum and worth a visit if you're in the area. Besides multiple bronzes by Remington, they also have a gallery dedicated to different phases of his painting and sketch art and helpful docents who can answer your questions about it. In the main house, you'll get to see some of the art that Remington and his wife collected, as well as some of the Tiffany glass work in the windows of the historic building. Upstairs, there is a nice exhibit of some of the bronze work of Sally James Farnham, who was inspired by (and friends with) Remington and a talented and successful artist in her own right. Farnham's sculptures tend towards the more massive size, but the museum showcases some of the smaller pieces and one large sculpture on the main floor of the museum when you first walk in.

We dropped in on a whim and had a great time. The staff was chatty and attentive, happily talking about a wide range of topics in relation to to the various exhibits. The house is beautifully maintained with the main entrance as a centerpiece of period woodwork done almost entirely in tigered maples. The bronze castings are exquisite and well presented, as are all of the flat works. A relatively modest museum and mansion, it only takes about an hour to walk thru or a couple hours to study and enjoy. A true gem hidden in a small historic town.

Such history is displayed and a beautiful art exhibit for all to enjoy. I'm from CO, and Remington is well known for his bronze statues. The museum itself is a treasure, I love the old home & it's history. If in Ogdensburg you must visit if you love art and a history of the wild west.

Wonderful collection of works by one of my favorite artists. This Remington collection surpasses any I've seen in western galleries and museums in Texas, Oklahoma, Wyoming, Arizona, or elsewhere. The friendly staff members were pleased to answer questions about the man and his art.

Ogdensburg is a richer place thanks to the Frederic Remington Art Museum. High-quality exhibits, knowledgeable staff, and a community-orientated calendar of events make this museum a treasure which the North Country should be more proud of.

The museum is absolutely worth going out of your way to check out. You won't be disappointed.
