We booked a weekend company retreat for our bartending staff and we stayed at the Richmond. What an amazing cabin!! Very spacious and clean. Downstairs, there was foosball table & a hot tub (outside), which was a bonus! There was a nice grill & fire pit to roast up some tasty s'mores, which definitely pared very well with some Maple-Bourbon cocktails. ; ) Overall, great experience in a large cozy cabin in Hocking Hills!

This was our second stay in the Pioneer. Both times the cabin was very clean and well maintained. Beautiful on the inside and a new hot tub on the back deck! The owner is easy to work with. Will definitely be staying again!

Great experience! The owners are super nice and take great pride in their property, and it shows! The amenities are great and the cabins are very nice and we'll kept. I would highly recommend these cabins if you are looking for a nice relaxing get-away. The cabins are also only a short drive away from many caves and hiking trails. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our visit!

Awesome cabin. The owner is very particular and takes great care of the cabins. He checks the hot tub levels every day at noon. He was also extremely nice. The cabin had decent wifi and Direct TV with a lot of channels. One of the best vacation rental experiences I've had. The location was relatively secluded but there are 2 cabins on the property that are relatively close. Out back of the smaller cabin where the hot tub and fire pit are, you can't see the other cabin or any other houses. It appeared this was also the case for the larger cabin. The location is about 15 minutes north of downtown Logan. You definitely need a 4 wheel drive vehicle to get to the cabin if there's any snow or ice. The driveway was gravel and quite steep.

We had a wonderful stay in The Richmond. The cabin was beautiful, clean and well maintained. The grounds and scenery were peaceful and picturesque. An easy 20 minute drive to Logan or 30 minutes to Hocking State Park for other activities. Highly recommended.

My husband and I come here every year! Amazing customer service. You can tell the owners take pride in their cabins and property. So clean, cozy, and AMAZING. Between the hot tub, stone electric fireplace, the firepit, the kitchen fully stocked with utensils, the trails, or the grill ( propane provided) I don't know what's best!!! The last three years of us being here, there has been an on going game of "finding the dollars"! I love riddles, solving puzzles, and games. I look forward every year to FIND THEM! I can't rave enough about the owners and this property. Worth every penny!!!

Had a great weekend with friends here! Cabin is in immaculate condition and we loved unplugging with beautiful scenery! Touchpad lock system was very easy to use which made check in and departure a breeze! Will absolutely be staying again as we can’t wait to see the view when the leaves change!

Spent a weekend here with friends and the cabin could not have been cleaner, more well appointed or in a lovelier setting. Already looking forward to our next stay. Would definitely recommend!

Just wrapped up an overall great stay at The Richmond. Here are my overall thoughts:
WHAT WORKED WELL:
1. Great location- secluded yet within 20 minutes or so of most Hocking Hills attractions.
2. Hot tub and fire pit were so enjoyable after a long day out hiking.
3. Back and front porch with lovely views for relaxing.
4. Good lodging set up for extended family- each party could have a fairly private area.
5. Cute cabin decor.
6. Pretty accurate communication about details of stay and logistics.

SOME RECOMMENDATIONS:
1. Silverware was missing what seemed the correct number of butter knives. We were always short.
2. Hot water heater capacity was too small- the cabin description says accommodates up to 7 people. We had 6 and every night we had to stagger showers/baths and someone still ran out of hot water. The hot water heater capacity was 40 gallons and should have been at least 80.
3. Repairs needed- holes in some lawn furniture and main floor toilet seat completely detached from bowl.
4. Cleanliness- bedroom ceiling fan on second floor coated with dust. Mouse poop in silverware drawer. German cockroaches in kitchen.

Quiet, peaceful setting. Beautiful cabin inside with a nice patio on the front to enjoy your morning coffee. The hot tub and grill on the back deck were a nice bonus. I do not understand why the basement was locked and we did not have access to it. The cabin is advertised as having beds in the basement. We did lose electricity twice during our three-day stay, not the fault of the owner.

House is great peaceful quiet but one issue I have is the kitchen table is sticky even after I wash it

The beds are too small & pillows are all worn out. Bathtub & the stairs need some anti slippery stripes on them.

Owner way too particular. Constant bombardment of communiques ahead of time, often covering the same stuff over and over regarding rental arrangments. Kind of drove me nuts before I even left my home to come that way. 😒 Every property I have stayed at in Hocking Hills and the Logan area in the last 10 years and also every cabin and chalet I have stayed in at Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge during the 10 years before that either allowed you to pick up keys at management office within a time 'frame' or simply use a keypad to unlock your door. Regardless of which, the office or owners were 'available' for their 'customers'. Also, every cabin posts house rules and instructions for use of equipment. I hate to say that my experience here was not enjoyable and here is why... The owner actually expected me to arrive at a particular time (4 pm), which wouldn't have been so bad had I not had to double back and go to my family doctor for a walk in visit and immediate issue that needed attention. I was an hour late and this apparently 'put the owner behind'. I was sent a message explaining that he 'had things to do' and the would probably have to "delay our check in" if he had to wait much longer! I didn't receive any messages anyway due lack of service where we were as we traveled, until I was around 20 minutes away. Once we arrived, the owner had us follow him (not necessary as you can see the property from the main road), and performed a physical room by room walk thru. This took away from discovering a new property together which is something we always look forward to as a family. Although on the surface it appeared that the owner simply wanted to help, I got the feeling that he didn't trust us with his stuff. Cabin was well stocked which was nice and couches were nice. The beds, on the other hand, were the worst I have ever slept on. I was actually amazed that with such a nice cabin the mattresses and box springs were so awful. If you don't believe me and you rent the larger cabin, you will find out soon enough. My son has a queen bed from Big Lots that we paid maybe $200 for, and I would consider it to be superior (LOL), than what was at this property and that is no joke. And ALL of the beds were this uncomfortable. Owner was nice enough to change chemicals in hot tub around noon each of the few days we were there, sure, but I have a sneaking suspicion that he was probably checking up on his property more than anything. I have to say one thing here. Can you imagine getting romantic with your significant other and skinny dipping when someone creeps up on you at the noon hour? Yikes! Luckily, this was a family trip and this wasn't an issue, but still... Also, the ceiling of the downstairs ceiling was covered in hunting camo material. The kind you would use as a deer or turkey blind canopy! It was stapled all over the ceiling downstairs which is where you may decide to dress/undress before/after you are done with hot tub which is right outside on that floor. ??? I'm wondering in the back of mind if there were hidden cameras in the place. Kind of a creepy vibe going if you ask me. Also, other than the camo, no decor whatsoever on the interior. Place needs a woman's touch. Sure it was a nice cabin but no window treatments, no welcome signs or the typical decor that says welcome or provides a cozy and warm atmosphere, just walls to look at. Hot tub nice but not covered. I'm okay with covered or not but just something to be aware of. To wrap things up, I just feel that there are much nicer properties available all over the area and without all the strings attached and a more welcoming and personal touch. If you are considering staying at this property, please consider RILEY RIDGE cabins (Lonestar). Service great and properties extremely nice, quiet settings with privacy and no walk thrus and rule explanations from your daddy. If you are just wanting a super nice cabin made for two, please check out Wade with a Rose. They also have two cabins on their farm but always delightful experience.
