I used to WALK to Putz’s when I was a kid. Sweltering summer days were spent wondering the woods or playing on I-74 before it opened to traffic, and then straight to Putz’s for the kind of creamy treat that would fill your soul. I moved out of state in 1981, but every time I visited Cincinnati in the summer, Putz’s was on my MUST VISIT list. And when I’d go back to California, it was so much fun when strangers would recognize my Putz’s t-shirt and nod and smile like “Hey- I know that place!”

They have a wide selection of soft serve ice cream concoctions; banana splits, sundaes, parfaits, cones, shakes and malts. They are consistently delicious and fairly priced. I love that it’s still the same friendly, family-run business I remember as a kid. Pull up, order a chocolate dipped cone or a strawberry sundae, look at the old pictures in the window, sit at a picnic table and make some memories for the kids in your family, or better still - tie a first date to this ice cream. I know after 40 years, you’ll still be enjoying the ice cream and the memories crafted at Putz’s through the years.

What can you say about this little treasure ! The footlong chili dogs, root beer floats , red cows, (cream soda floats)
Many various other goodies.
It just takes you back to your childhood in the days of Frosty and soft serve. Love this place

Outdoor seating which they have added more picnic tables and there's some space that the kids can run around while the parents relax and enjoy their ice cream. This place has been my childhood favorite and now I still take my grown children there

We went there for a soft serve. I tried the strawberry shortcake, and it was good with real stawberries in the jam. It's CASH ONLY. Also, given the neighborhood, I would not go there after dark, based on what I saw in the gas station across the road. Overall, great place, they have picnic benches on the side.

Perfect spot for family ice cream in the summer. Lots of choices, ranging from simple soft serve to sundaes and shakes. Try the banana split! Reasonable prices but they are CASH only. There is a gas station with an ATM right across the street.

I travelled there twice in a week's time and it was well worth the 40 minute for just one way to get there. The food, ice cream and great customer service means so much

Ice cream was great. Servers knew what they were doing. You can eat in your car or the parking lot.

Amazing! Went to the seasonal opening even though it was so cold out. My mom used to go all the time growing up so we went to see if it was the same.
Family owned and operated as far as I know and it shows! They are so sweet, patient and even though there was a constant line theyhelped with suggestions without making you feel rushed.
Now the ice cream is worth the drive (I live 25 mins away) and prices are perfect! Wish I brought a cooler to take one home haha.

This is one of Cincinnati's Premier ice cream creamy whip locations that's has a historic ice cream machine that you cannot get anywhere else due to the machine is no longer made they have great ice cream as well as great footlong cheese coneys. I would love to see a 3-way on the menu with there chili and cheese. I highly recommend you stop by this iconic ice cream shop.

This place is awesome. A family favorite. Hit an ATM if you're wanting to check it out because they only take cash.

Just the best soft serve ice cream in the tristate. And a great variety of things to put it in. Yes they have good hamburgers, hot dogs, etc, but why waste room in your stomach when you can have a second ice cream treat? Only a short time left until they are closed again, so get here and enjoy.

I just love this place. Their ice cream treats are excellent, but what I really love is their footlong coney with cheese, mustard, and onions. Prices are fair, and service is always good. This place gets busy in the evenings, can also get busy during the lunch hour (frequently see Cincinnati Police stop in). I saw about 5 EMTs and 15+ firefighters enjoying a snack one recent evening. Don't let the location fool you. This place may be in a slightly tough neighborhood (Mt Airy) but that does not keep couples, families from visiting this long-time Cincinnati icon. Some visit for the ice cream, but I contend this establishment that serves great food just happens to serve great ice cream, too. Check it out!

I took my daughter to Putz’s yesterday. She’s 9. She was so excited to go. Had never been! The young lady taking our order helped her through the ordering process and somehow demonstrated characteristics of warmth, meaningful eye-contact, patience, friendly professionalism and a bunch of other things that I’m working on with my daughter. It was a master class in customer service, from what seemed like a very young lady herself. Her composure in such a brief moment was so exemplary it bears mentioning. Not to mention walking tacos, hot dogs, ice creams and malts are a blast from my past from this long-standing neighborhood gem.
