Tequila Mexican Restaurant

I visited Tequila Mexican Restaurant for the very first time this evening and was abundantly pleased..

I didn't know what to expect, really, but shared photos convinced me to give them a shot..

I would describe this restaurant as a "hybrid" sit down place.. What do I mean?? So, you enter and order at the counter, and then your food is delivered to your table..

I ordered two, a la carte al pastor street tacos and a margarita.. The street tacos were divine, and despite my late visit, the ingredients (pork, onions, cilantro, and tortillas) were pleasantly fresh and packed with flavor..

The accompanying chips and salsa were a nice touch, and the margarita was quite flavorful..

Every member of the staff I interacted with was wonderfully pleasant, and the generous military discount on the food was a nice touch, too!!

I will certainly revisit this venue the very next time I visit the Columbia area.. A very clean and niche restaurant with great eats and service!! 👏

Honestly, we’re didn’t know what to expect as this was our first visit. We were delighted with the entire experience. First of all, upon entry it was obvious that the team there works hard to maintain a clean restaurant - very nice. Also, it was well-staffed and everyone was very pleasant and outgoing. We ordered three separate dishes and the young lady working with us was very careful to be sure that our special requests were understood, communicating with the kitchen manager in real time. Our order was served quickly and was hot and delicious. Highly recommended!

This place doesn't really need my review it speaks for itself, but I'm going to make one anyway.

Firstly we were thrown off when we walked in and you order fast food style, even though that was different and unexpected we loved it. You order, get your number, pick your table (inside or out) and wait for them to bring your food.

From there it's like a typical casual restaurant except you get your own soda refills... Which I loved. Alcohol is served to the table.

The food was amazing and took only 5 minutes to arrive hot and fresh.

Restrooms were decorated nice and very clean.

If you like Mexican food this stop is a must. I recommend the monster burrito, it is truly enormous. Almost a foot long.

Great food. I like the ability to order when you're ready at the front. It allowed us to work at our own pace. Made it a great experience. The paella was delicious!

Came for lunch on a work day. Food was excellent. The service was so fast. They gave us extra chips and salsa when we were done to take home.

The food was so good that I really want to go back and try something else. Everyone that worked there was so nice. We had great service and our food came out fast, hot, and delicious.

At first, when you walk in, you think it is just another fast food restaurant.
So you place your order, they give you a number, you can leave your tab open and tip at the end, and then you pick your table. Then you realize it is not a fast good restaurant because a server immediately greets you at your table with chips and salsa. They come by and make sure you are ok and can add you can add to your order with any server that passes by or you can go back up to the counter. The staff is is friendly and always seem happy to be there, which is not something you see as much anymore. The only thing that is just like fast food there is the service, which is another thing you don’t see quite as much anymore. So, if you are in Columbia, IL, and you are pressed on time, or you have a hankering for Mexican food, or you want a margarita, or maybe it’s all three? Go over to Tequila’s in Columbia! They will not disappoint!

This place was great. The food tasted so delicious and the portions were huge. I ordered a steak chimichanga and a lime margarita. The chimichanga had sauteed onions and bell peppers. There was a ton of meat in this. Almost too great of a deal. I give this a two thumbs up!

Very good food with some vegetarian options

This location is awesome! They just recently changed their format on ordering and seating and I love it. The food is great, the atmosphere is relaxing and its very clean. The new format let's you choose your own seats and puts less stress on staff. The menu seems smaller, but still has all the favorites. This is always my go to place when I visit IL. Love the cheese dip and taco salad!

Seen they completely remodeled and looks amazing and menu too its very open and nice atmosphere! Food was amazing and delicious! We will be back soon!!

I wasn’t sure how I was going to like the ordering system after our first visit on opening night. We returned tonight snd we’re very happy with the service. Food was great (as always) and paying after lacing order was great! No waiting for check, food and drink delivered quickly and rather than wait for a server to come by so I could ask for a “go box”, they were available by the drink station. All in all, a great experience!

The friendliness and customer service is unlike any we’ve had anywhere else and consistently exceptional. Restaurant is always clean and food is served quickly…and those margaritas are THE BEST I’ve had anywhere.

I was staying in Columbia for business and decided to give this restaurant a shot and it did not disappoint. Upon visiting I didn’t really know what I wanted and one of the employees JB picked up on that and was quick to direct me to some of their favorites among customers and himself. The staff was super helpful and consistently cared about how I was doing as a customer. On top of that I had a minute to talk with JB who served me so quickly and helpfully and we quickly hit it off with a conversation about our personal lives. As someone who is often on the road alone coming here to eat made me feel like I was home eating among friends and family. I highly suggest this place for their customer service alone. In regards to food they have a very wide array of traditional Mexican dishes that offer a lot of variety for whatever your pallet may be wanting and just like their customer service it does not disappoint. I deeply appreciate the way I was treated by the staff and will be coming here any chance I get when passing through or near Columbia.
