The Lab by Alchemy Coffee

Amazing local coffee shop. Service was amazing, the decor and theme is on point. They serve a delicious chai. It’s authentic, spicy (I’m tasting some ginger), and flavorful. There’s some couches and a lot of tables/chairs for studying or lounging. I wish they had a cup sleeve lol.

Subtle jazz music showers this sunny coffee shop on Broad. We were welcomed in with a smile, the register attendant was eager to offer suggestions and explain any menu options. We selected a Dirty Chai and a Lord Bergamond British Brunch tea which came out quickly, the warmed cinnamon bun soon followed, it's interior was flaky, buttery, and the frosting provided a balanced sweetness, simply delectable!

Absolutely delicious pastries, we had one apple and one cheese Danish. My caramel latte was hot and very tasty. I love how the had hot chocolate for my 10 year old daughter. They made the foam on top beautiful! The service was good and they were very knowledgeable about their menu items. I had never been there before so I asked a lot of questions. They happily answered them. I will definitely be visiting again.

Just tried the Rose Latte and it was delicious. My wife got the tumeric latte and burrito and enjoyed both. Very friendly barista! Highly recommend it.

Wonderful place to grab some coffee and snacks. The staff is really friendly and awesome! Alchemy manages to be upscale, welcoming and a little cozy at the same time. The coffee is delicious. Definitely a place that you wish you had in your area.

Atmosphere is wonderful. Employees were both very kind and polite. The cafe itself is very clean and tidy and I always find new things to look at! The caramel latte was amazing! A really great treat to come by and visit.

I always am careful if I am traveling I visit this place. The best pour-over I’ve tried in the USA. I recommend anyone who loves coffee try the Ethiopian beans for pour-over here :)

Incredible Richmond coffee shop! They love their fruity coffees, and have a variety of in coffees on rotation so that in season coffee is served year round. Alchemy offers a Yama tower cold brew, which is a very strong, very caffeinated cold brew coffee that is perfect for college students who need to stay awake the morning after an all-nighter. For non-coffee drinkers, they have some of the best chai in the area. The shop is very aesthetically pleasing, making it a great meeting spot for VCU students or others in the area.

I am in Richmond from out of town for the next 5 weeks during the week & was looking for a place that had a great latte in a mug with the cute designs(mostly because that’s how I know that the maker has great latte-making skills). This place is GREAT! Really friendly person working/making the drinks. Cute atmosphere. Overall perfect experience! I will for SURE be back!!! Highly recommend!

10/10. The barista was so kind and really informative, and I would highly recommend checking it out. I tried the turmeric latte, and it was actually quite yummy!

The Lab has captured my heart! Love the coffee and location . . . and the staff is ALWAYS wonderful! That’s why I sometimes get in my car and drive to Alchemy instead of walking to a spot closer to home! Thanks guys 😘

Delicious! I was looking for great coffee and atmosphere and this place exceeded my expectations! The service was above exceptional thanks to Brandy, not only was her attitude and energy amazing her recommendations and service was outstanding!
I tried their cold drip, espresso, cappuccino and regular coffee, and walked away with a danish yum yum!
The cappuccino was my favorite!
I came looking for a cup of good coffee, and am leaving feeling the warm & fuzzy happiness after a crazy day/week of work.

Delicious AND beautiful cappuccino. Barista was really sweet and the atmosphere inside was really nice. Good pricing as well. One of the better coffee spots in RVA❤

Super solid coffee shop in Richmond. I got a flat white and an apple danish. I only tasted a scrap of the danish because my teenager ate it so fast - they said it was excellent and showed me the butter on their fingers from the crust. The flat white wasn’t on the menu, but the barista said he could make it and he made it right. Super friendly guy. The foam was tight and the espresso was strong and smooth. All around would recommend.

My boyfriend and I got cold press lattes that were fantastic. The flavors are kind of limited (vanilla, caramel, and mocha) but that's not too big of a drawback in my opinion. The shop itself is modern & minimalistic, and the service was great. We will definitely be back!

Delicious coffee sourced from Richmond roasters. Yay for oat milk. The Baristas are super friendly. Emma is the best!

Delicious Mocha. Coffee is delicious and made well. Staff is very friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is fairly talkative and chatty. The decorations all help the lab atmosphere. Dessert looked delicious will be trying another time. Good place for a coffee and doing some work.

My americano was delicious. Good rich espresso and two friendly lady baristas made for a great experience. The laboratory based theme is super awesome as well and the space is open and welcoming. You can either sit at the bar while your coffee is made, it at a large shared table facing the street or against the wall at individual tables. I’ll definitely be back!

Love the concept. Coffee was great.

As far as location, be prepared for a busy street and limited parking.

Other than that, it’s a fun place.
