The Berkeley Hotel

Absolutely amazing experience! Hands down the nicest hotel and room I’ve stayed in. Front desk was very friendly, polite and a joy to speak with. The room was impeccable and newly renovated. We loved everything about it! Alfreda was a joy to work with and Valet was great too. The beds are extremely comfortable and so are the sheets, pillows, comforter and the robes! The bathroom and stand-in shower was perfect and exactly what we needed. 10/10 highly recommend! Will certainly be returning!

Wedding weekend so we had many guests at the hotel. Staff was very accommodating and service was great. Great location.
A special shout out to TC with valet. It was a very busy weekend and he did an excellent job for us.

I didn’t stay at the hotel, I only visited the bar.
Chris was our bartender and he did a fantastic job with drinks at the bar and serving the dine in customers. There was no host or actual server, just the Chris the bartender. I appreciated his ability to stay attentive, courteous, and efficient. Thanks Chris!

A friendly, cozy experience with a vintage feel, located next to a lot of what I needed to get done in Richmond.

The rooms, while dated, with visible repairs, were perfectly serviceable and clean, with an abundance of pillows and lamps and a good writing desk. The upcoming renovation will fix a lot of that - but I fear it'll also strip some of the cozy charm out too.

The walls are thiiiin, so if you're a light sleeper, bring earplugs.

The staff was friendly and efficient, and had good food recommendations. The restaurant is open now, though we didn't get to try it.

Don't hesitate to book.

This hotel is a hidden Gem. Imagine the Jefferson, but you pay 299ish instead of 600+. For the price of a standard Marriott, I got a king size suite, living room, bathroom with separate shower and tub. Absolutely nothing bad to say.

Management is fantastic, location is primo if you're looking to stay in Richmond. I don't know what else to say. Book and you won't regret it.

Found The Berkeley because our flight was cancelled and so fortunate that we did. It is a lovely hotel with generous sized rooms and high ceilings and beautiful decor. The staff is amazingly friendly w accommodating. The valets were sooo kind and attentive - and they kept our belongings safe as we toured another campus and waited for out late replacement flight. Wonderful experience!!

Really cute hotel! Staff were very friendly and it’s on the cutest street. Affordable price. Would definitely stay here again! As a solo traveler I felt very safe too.

I'm really enjoying this hotel. Decided to book another night. The hot water for the bathttub is consistently piping hot. Hard to find that in hotels these days. And hard to find a bathtub. Had a room with a balcony. Big and spacious with a beautiful view. Convenient neighborhood to walk to restaurants and make friends while enjoying the nightlife. Everything is right outside your door. Friendly staff and permits pets. Hope to stay again down the road.

Awesome place and staff. Personally, I hate people so being at a smaller and nice hotel that’s not the same as every other hotel is fab. They’re renovating too. Food was also good.

I am so impressed by the customer service at the Berkeley Hotel. In particular, Sarah was very accommodating when I needed to switch a reservation that I had mistakenly booked for the wrong date, and helped smooth out the details after the fact. And the hotel staff was so kind on my arrival, especially Alfreda. I would definitely recommend staying at this hotel.

The hotel was nice, & staff did an amazing job of making sure we was comfortable. They gave good dining recommendations & kept me updated on tab when I requested. Valet was always on time with my vehicle, I wasn’t late for a business day the whole week I was here. Thank you to valet staff & hotel staff. Will return.

Eric and TC were amazing valets and gave us great recommendations for restaurants in the area. Hotel was beautiful; great location and a great view from the balcony. Came down for Richmond marathon and was really pleased with the stay. Definitely recommend.

Spacious and cozy rooms with walkability to just about anywhere. Want to give a special shout out to Starlett (front desk) for making our experience great.

Everything was perfect. The hotel, the location, the staff. Everyone was really helpful, friendly and eager to help. Loads of love especially to Yoshua, as he was the one to support us even more. We will definitely come back!

The Berkeley Hotel is marvelous place to stay. The staff was warm and welcoming. The decor is reminiscent of days gone by. No, there is no in-room refrigerator, pool or gym, but if you want a unique stay in a beautiful older building located next to good coffee shops, excellent restaurants and bakeries, in a great part of town, try the Berkeley. The breakfast was fine. Many of these reviewers sound as if they should have stayed at the residence inn down the block.

I had a lovely brief stay here! Special shoutout to Starlet (if I read that nametag correctly?) at the front desk--super helpful and friendly! Cozy, clean, and located on such a lovely little street with good resturants and shops.

August 11&13 - Richmond visit for a convention center event (couple) - Arrived by car with perfect placement for the valet from the left to the immediate corner, set on a one way street. Valet team was very professional and attentive to our needs for a trolley and quickly offloaded us and provided guidance to the front desk. Valet 5-Star Highly Recommend. Front Desk was Welcoming, Attentive and Spot-On to our needs in answering our questions about the local amenities. The front desk check-in was both personal and efficient. Hotel Staff 5 Star, highly recommend. The balcony room we were assigned was spacious, comfortable and very well appointed with furnishings being much better than expected. We will definitely return.

Located in the Shockoe Slip area. Beautiful cobble stone streets with fantastic dining options close by. The Tobacco Factory is located right across the street. Small quaint historic hotel with reasonable rates.

Plenty of on street parking or a parking garage is 1 block away.
