Capital Ale House

This was my first time eating at this establishment. I chose the dessert pretzel for dinner, lol !
The price was reasonable. The flavor was incredible! The pretzel was soft and very delicious. The additional cup of half caramel and half chocolate sauce was so tasty, too.

CAH was a quick walk from our hotel. Wait was a bit long, but we just went back to our room and waited. The atmosphere was welcoming - there is music hall next door and a concert was going so it kind of felt like we were there too lol but it was not bothersome. The service was great! Our waitress was really friendly and answered our tourists question. Food was on point. Would def recommend.

Fabulous meal here tonight. Laid back vibe, easy to spend lots of time with friends. There are some Polish selections on the menu and I had to try the pierogi. They did not disappoint. There is a music venue next door and this is the perfect spot for before or after the show snacks.

We booked their Game Room for an engagement party. I cannot tell you how pleased I am with the decision. Clean and spacious for our 50 guests. The large side patio was a plus. Hard working employees. Very good food. Generous portions. An excellent value overall. This is one place to strongly consider when looking for venues to host an event.

Visited this fine establishment to satisfy our late night munchies after hitting some breweries pretty hard first day in town. It came recommended from a friend and did not disappoint.

I don't recall our bartenders name but we could tell he was well experienced. Just the perfect amount of conversation and kept our cold, fermented beverages coming. The dry rub wings were as good as I've had anywhere. Would definitely return my next trip to RVA.

Amber, Allison, & Brian were absolutely phenomenal!! My boyfriend and I are visiting from Charlotte and had the best time because of these 3! Very personable, attentive, and helpful. I would come back to Richmond just to have these three as my bartenders again. The best thing Carolina Ale House has ever done was hire these three wonderful people on their staff. I guarantee you will get nothing but the best service from this bartending staff!

They have really improved the food here since a few years ago. They have good gluten free options and if course a huge beer selection. They also have a good amount of TV's and they'll find your game if you ask, so it's a pretty good place for watching sports

As a burger lover I have to tell this Burger was really good. A good American burger.
The fries were also good, Im glad they make them themselves. The sauce was also perfect.
I had the burger with a few selections of lager and wheat beers, perfect accompaniments. Excellent pub👌👍
Fast and good service

Plenty of beer options, with great descriptions on their menu. Ordered a margarita flat bread, it wasn't terrible but also not amazing. Service was good. Chill atmosphere.

We were in Richmond for a Graduation from VCU. We had a total of 17 in our party and the Capital Ale House accommodated us with no problems. The food was great and our server (Jay C) was attentive, courteous, and helpful with what to order. I had the Wurst Platter (Bratwurst, Knockwurst, and Polish Sausage), it was amazing. I also took a slice of Apple pie to go. I wish I would’ve tasted it there, I would have tried to buy a whole pie. It was the best I have ever had. And unfortunately I live about an hour and a half away so I can’t get it all the time. Definitely recommend it when you go.

I had the Crispy Fish Tacos with sweet potato fries and one of their famous pretzel. The food was really good. The service was pretty good, I was stuck in a corner and was kind of forgotten about. Not that this was a bad thing. My drink was filled every time it got close to empty. Took some time to get my check, which was good because I wasn’t ready to leave when I was done eating. I will be coming back on my next visit to Richmond.

Came to see a show at the music hall and grabbed some drinks and grub before the festivities started. Great selection of brews, my wife ordered a cilantro mango rango and loved it. I munched some pierogies and she had a Bacon black and blue burger. She said it was a bit dry but she was the one who done ordered it cooked well. I had a bite and the taste was on point.

We came in after a concert. Everything hit the spot. Our server handled her business. That spinach artichoke shrimp dip is damn good. I do miss coming for burger night. I meant to ask if they still do it.

This place honestly surprised me. I was expecting “bar food” but they gave me old fashion meets unique chef in a chill bar on a Saturday night feel, if that make sense 😂😂. Our waitress was pretty dope and very knowledgeable of the menu (because I always have a question 🙄) and her drink recommendation was PERFECT!!! We had the Peach Margarita. Delicious. Just enough “ooo weeee” and peaches. Awesome atmosphere. Will I return? Sure.

I ordered on-line and my order was ready within 8 minutes! The Cuban taco was unbelievable. Staff was very friendly and helpful. I highly recommend Capital Ale House.

Like the menu says, they own late night if you're looking for food or live music past 9pm. Our server was incredibly helpful to three out-of-towners, happily offering up fantastic drink recommendations based on what we liked. The food isn't just a "well this is the only option" either, and was delicious. Very cool vibes and will certainly visit again when coming back for work.

Excellent burger. Good gluten free bun.

Limited gluten free beer options (one Glutenberg), would be nice to see more selection (even just more of the Glutenberg - Double IPA, say?)

Had a quick lunch here while walking around town. Great beer selection and food menu.

Besides a great selection of draft and bottled beer - coming from Berlin my favorite is the Berliner Weisse they serve - they also have great brunch dishes! And a good selection of hot sauces for those who like spicy food! So a great place around the clock.
