This is my go-to REI. Staff are always friendly and super helpful. Their ski tuning and wax service is pretty limited in availability tho. Never had a problem taking returns here, and I've found some great deals on garage sale items here.

The building has impressive design from façade to the interior, spacious and comfortable at the same time. All sections, rows and shelves locations are very informative, and the staffs are friendly to make sure you get the perfect service that you need. Awesome! 👍👍

Genevieve installed rigid fork, stem, and handlebar on my mtb and she did an excellent job. She’s very courteous, knowledgeable, and very professional. She also answered all of my emails in a timely manner. If you ever need anything bike related, I highly recommend her. She’s awesome! I’m very satisfied with the result.

This store is the best! Great quality merchandise and a wonderful selection. And anytime you want to return something, no questions asked, and the process is simple. The people who work there are upbeat, friendly, and helpful. Everyone is so polite and diligent .Even my dog is welcomed.

This is the best REI ! HUGE shout out to Tiffany for her knowledge, troubleshooting and real world application skills. This will be the only REI I go to anymore!

I purchased a bike from them with amazing service and attention as I worked through adjusting to a new bike. I went from a Mt bike with a straight handle bar to a gravel bike with a drop bar. The personalized attention enabled me to keep moving despite some medical issues I was having. It’s been over 2 years and 3000 miles on the bike now and they are always ready to assist in any way they can. Thanks REI!!!

What an amazing outdoor store!! You definitely are at the perfect place should you require camping gear, hiking boots, clothes etc that are of the best quality. I did buy quite a lot of items for camping and hiking activities. Not once I have been disappointed. They also have a bunch of experts who will help you choose the most appropriate equipment matching your needs. In addition you can bring or exchange your gear at no charge. You can’t go wrong with REI !

A two floor location with a great selection of running trail shoes and hiking shoes. We tried on several pairs and the sales representatives were not only friendly but introduced us to water repellant sticks which we're looking to try out this spring. We found the Salomon X Ultra 3 Low GTX to be too tight around the mid foot and the Merrell Moab 2 had to be sized up by half

Honestly, shopping at this REI has been one of the best retail experiences I have ever had. All of the staff members I interacted with were very knowledgeable about all the gear I was buying. They were all personable and kind. That’s hard to come by nowadays. I also decided to buy the REI membership. Excellent job, REI Rockville!

My husband's bike broke while we were on vacation. The technicians were extremely helpful and fixed the bike immediately. The customer service and friendly attitude made our day! Thank you.

Very helpful staff! Becky was very helpful when I was trying to buy a cycling shoes. She explained to me on how to use the cleats and what types of bike pedals to use, she even gave me instructions on how to find them in the REI online shop.

Overall: Very friendly, attentive to needs, great value, not pushy. On busy days, may be difficult/slow to get service but understandable.

Extremely pleased with this spot! It was really my first time with REI and I didn’t know what to expect. My bike tech was amazing (sorry, I don’t remember their name!), they made great recommendations without feeling pushy, and even helped fit our son for a bike. They showed me how to max out my savings, which made me feel valued!

What really sets them apart is their commitment to the community. Shortly after having my bike serviced, they participated in MoCo’s bike to work day and provided tuning, bottles, and snacks. Additionally, they provided great trail advice and maps.

Very friendly staff that is willing to make you feel comfortable in their co op. Store is really beautiful and easy to shop. Favorite part of our trip was watching the master technicians work their craft on bikes, boards and some really cool gear. Thank you for making a late night trip not feel rushed nor a burden on your store. Bravo to this team. Our family had a blast during our visit.

Great selection of outdoor gear. The parking situation isn’t optimal (in a public garage across the street) but the first two hours are free, so that makes up for the crowding on weekends.

My husband and I went into this store today to look for a Thule roof box. We had the pleasure of dealing with one of the managers, Chris. He was great. He found the box we needed, pulled it up front and even helped us carry it out to the vehicle. He was pleasant and helpful. Today, he made a positive impact on our day, and we appreciate him.

James in footwear was fantastic. He went above and beyond helping me pick out better running shoes. Everyone else in the store is helpful and kind. Bought my mountain bike here, and will be buying more from this REI. They are helpful, knowledgeable and one of the best outdoor stores this side of the Mississippi. Anyone who says otherwise is just a grumpy customer. Thanks again James!

Shout out to Jimmy at the bike department who went above and beyond to help me set up my new bike even their schedule is super packed for the day! No wonder their bike service is ranked top in the nation! We also appreciate the professional help from Henry when choosing our bikes. He is so informative and patient which made the process much easier. We end up purchasing two bikes from the store! Other staffs are also friendly. A few guys at the bike shop seemed impatient to other staffs though, maybe they’re overworked and tired. Overall the folks at this location definitely deserve a raise for their hard work!

Very huge store with exceptional customer service. Went there for the first time looking for a backpack that opens like a suitcase. They were expensive but Patrick who worked on the lower level backpack section was awesome. He helped me found something in my price range. Even during COVID he accepted my hand shake I offered to show my appreciation. Had a lovely just because conversation with the lady who worked on the sleeping bag section. While I was chatting with her I noticed some pictures hanging on multiple boards and I admired them thinking they were customers but she said they were R.E.I employees with their outdoor events they went. Thought it was pretty cool makes R.E.I employees feel like a family

The salesperson working in the shoe department was very conscientious and knowledgeable about their products. She spent a lot of time with me and made sure that I could get the best price for my boots.
